I keep finding stuff that’s ok but not that memorable.

Can be anything - comedy/drama/thriller. Open to subtitles.

Thanks!

upright on Sky

barcodescanner · 06/06/2020 19:41

Unorthodox, now watching Shtisel

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 07/06/2020 20:11

Dirty John on Netflix

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 07/06/2020 20:11

Dead to me , Netflix

VideographybyLouBloom · 07/06/2020 22:58

After Life
Gangs of London
White Lines
My favourite recent programme was probably Defending Jacob - superb story and acting. It’s on Apple TV though but well worth paying £5 for a month to binge watch.

pmk!

stormsurfer · 08/06/2020 01:39

This is Us
New Amsterdam
Life in Pieces
Little fires everywhere
Normal people
Cardinal
Outlander
Atypical
Modern Family
Derry Girls

Autumnchill · 08/06/2020 20:44

@stormsurfer I'm binge watching Cardinal. Don't know how I missed it first time round

stormsurfer · 08/06/2020 21:40

Yes me too! I saw the one episode of series 4 last week on BBC2 and then realised there were a previous 3 series and all on iPlayer. So I've gone back to the start. Very gripping.

PickUpThePieces · 08/06/2020 21:43

Unorthodox

rooarsome · 08/06/2020 21:44

Another vote for Unorthodox here. Only 4 episodes but fascinating and heartbreaking

TheCanterburyWhales · 08/06/2020 21:47

Money Heist (ignore stupid title) is the best series I've ever seen, ever.

P1ece0fTheWorld · 08/06/2020 22:15

Schitt’s Creek

Gunpowder · 08/06/2020 22:20

Another vote for Dark on Netflix. You have to watch in German with subtitles though.

reginafalange2020 · 08/06/2020 22:59

Afterlife
Killing eve
Three girls
Breaking bad (bit old but still brill)
Normal people

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/06/2020 23:24

Tbh, as much as I love TV shows and movies in general, I think its only really based on real life / documentaries that "blow me away"
When they see us
Making a murderer
Evil genius
That sort of thing.
Things like "When They See Us"

gutentag1 · 08/06/2020 23:27

Normal People. The only series I've watched in years that really gripped me, I watched all 12 episodes in 2 days. It's filmed so beautifully and the acting is brilliant.

Userzzz · 09/06/2020 01:29

When They See US - blew me away. I cried so hard.
Caliphate is great too.

superoz · 09/06/2020 11:10

Girl/Haji which was on BBC a while ago but also is on Netflix. So original and not what you think it’ll be.

Panticus · 09/06/2020 12:01

@Gunpowder

Another vote for Dark on Netflix. You have to watch in German with subtitles though.
Dark gets yet another vote from me, and yes totally agree re subtitles. It is one of the best shows I've seen in years.
Gunpowder · 09/06/2020 15:49

Yes Panticus! It’s so good. Only a couple of weeks till season 3.

Thisismynewname123 · 09/06/2020 17:55

I just binge watched Normal People on iplayer. It was amazing. Can't think of anything else that's better than the book.

Thisismynewname123 · 09/06/2020 17:57

I also binge watched Unorthodox recently which was also amazing. Are any of these other recommendations anything like as exceptional as Normal people and Unorthodox?

ilovecardigans · 10/06/2020 18:40

Gameface on channel four. It’s a lesser known comedy gem.
I second this. Absolutely brilliant (think Fleabag, but better and more relatable IMHO). Roisin Connaty is a massive talent and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Also:

BBC
I May Destroy You (series) - 1st episode of 12 aired Monday - exceptional!
www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-52976989
Normal People (limited series) - sexiest but most heartbreaking thing I've ever watched
Killing Eve (series) - series 1 was amazing, but series 2 & 3 not so much

Netflix
Better Call Saul (series) - best thing on Netflix IMHO
The Crown (series) - second best thing on Netflix
Orange is the New Black - third best thing on Netflix
Afterlife (series) - brilliant, even for non-Ricky Gervais fans
Uncut Gems (film) - Adam Sandler shows real acting talent - who knew!
Godless (limited series) - Wow, just WOW!

I have loads more, but these are the ones which really stand out.

TazSyd · 10/06/2020 18:45

@Sharpandshineyteeth

Yes, Gameface is excellent. I’m surprised it doesn’t get mentioned more often. The same actress is in Afterlife (Netflix) which is also fab.

The Witcher - Netflix (the new Game if Thrones apparently. Very good if you like that sort of thing).

Britannia - Sky / Now TV
Mind Hunters - Netflix
White Lines - Netflix
Chernobyl- Sky / Now TV
