Hope I haven’t jumped the gun, but the old thread was getting quite full.

I’ve just been browsing the
www.bigcommunitysew.co.uk/
and trying to work out what sewing machines they were using at home. I always do that when a magazine has a feature about one if the contestants. Blush
I think Therese has the same Juki machine as I have and she’s also got the mini quilter too. Lucky lass.

Also, do you think that maybe either Therese or that slightly annoying bloke Peter might have won this year as they also have Juliet, the winner from the last series in this group?

Peter is a bit of a darling so I can't see him going next. Matt's coat is on a shoogly peg though. Shame, as I prefer Matt to Peter.

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/05/2020 21:59

Next week looks good and Peter is wearing another strange garment.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2020 22:00

I love re-using stuff but those bags??

ScarfLadysBag · 20/05/2020 22:00

Next week looks bizarre. The made to measure looks like another transformation challenge!

Wonder what Peter will be wearing ...

dillite · 20/05/2020 22:04

Those bags are giving me flashbacks of when my parents would travel to Lithuanian markets to buy us clothes. They would come back with massive bags like those filled with new/ nearly new clothes and you had to pretend to like them.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2020 22:08

Presumably you didn't have to wear the bags though!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 20/05/2020 22:11

Wow Therese saved her own skin there.

dillite · 20/05/2020 22:11

SoupDragon sometimes bags would have made a better outfit than what was inside the bags.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2020 22:23

😂😂

HotCrossBungle · 20/05/2020 23:31

Lagging behind tonight, just caught up. Loved the corset history bit, especially the carvings.

Getting a bit bored of smutty inuendos now - boning etc., It's all a bit Carry on.

Loved Esme's dress.

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/05/2020 07:33

Did anyone else like Clare's skirt last night. I've got some tartan fabric but I'm not sure there's enough to do that. I might have a go but a wooly skirt doesn't seem like a priority at the moment. I loved her shoes too.

Roussette · 21/05/2020 07:41

Perhaps next week will be like this from RuPaul's drag race Grin

I loved Claire's shoes Captain.

My mouth practically watered at the sight of them.

RomaineCalm · 21/05/2020 10:06

I loved Claire's shoes too.

Actually I love her style full stop - it always makes me think that once she's finished the sewing challenge she's going to pop down and do a shift code-breaking at Bletchley Park.

Halsall · 21/05/2020 11:28

These are slightly reminiscent of Clare’s shoes, I thought . Don’t know if hers were perhaps vintage, though.

I wonder whether she also knits her splendid jumpers?

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/05/2020 11:35

Those shoes are lovely @Halsall

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/05/2020 11:38

And, yes, she knitted that jumper. I've just checked her Instagram.

Halsall · 21/05/2020 11:53

Ha, I thought she might have! Could you point me in the direction of her Instagram, Captain? Smile

longtompot · 21/05/2020 11:58

Just found Clare on insta. She makes shoes! Well, she makes lots of different things. Clever lady, I think I am rooting for her to win.

It did make me giggle when Joe and Matt were giggling about the boning, and then realised they were being like school boys and giggled even more!

I loved Lizs sleep set. Hated the wincyette one. Fuggly. I wouldn't mind something like the one Therese made, well deserved to win. Just very classy looking.
Sad Ali went, but she did keep running out of time. I think she did the same last week?
I hate silky fabrics, they get all rucked up. Much prefer a nice cotton number. I have some old duvets I want to turn into pj bottoms. I think I shall do that today.

longtompot · 21/05/2020 11:59

@Halsall it's clare.bradders

Halsall · 21/05/2020 12:05

Thanks longtom. Maybe she made those shoes, then? She's clearly a massively talented woman. Respect.

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/05/2020 12:11

Claire quietly gets on with it. I'm rooting for her.

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/05/2020 12:12

It's Clare but my auto correct insists on Claire.

Halsall · 21/05/2020 12:15

I'd like her to win, too.

JudyCoolibar · 21/05/2020 12:32

I wish they wouldn't do stupid challenges like the laundry bag one. It's just stupid and bears no relationship to anything anyone would ever want to do out in the real world.
