Great British Sewing Bee 2020 part 2

Hope I haven’t jumped the gun, but the old thread was getting quite full.

I’ve just been browsing the
www.bigcommunitysew.co.uk/
and trying to work out what sewing machines they were using at home. I always do that when a magazine has a feature about one if the contestants. Blush
I think Therese has the same Juki machine as I have and she’s also got the mini quilter too. Lucky lass.

Also, do you think that maybe either Therese or that slightly annoying bloke Peter might have won this year as they also have Juliet, the winner from the last series in this group?

Evening all! This will either go very well or very badly.

Roussette · 27/05/2020 21:02

Here we go!

HMSSophie · 27/05/2020 21:02

Evening!

dillite · 27/05/2020 21:04

Evening all! How is everyone?

Remember I told you of having bought some of that Frida Kahlo fabric from episode one? Well, it became a shirt for my brother rather than a dress for my SIL. I fucked up pattern matching, of course. I decapitated Frida by forgetting to cut 2 separate pieces for the back- instead I cut one whole piece and instead of just sewing the back yoke from the inside and having a seam on the outside with Frida intact. Hindsight is a massive bitch. I also had to use an existing shirt to draft the pattern as it's ridiculously hard to buy a men's shirt pattern that comes in sizes rather that by neck sizing. Anyway, here's the outcome. In true Bee fashion, it's pinned closed as the buttons are yet to arrive. Also, what is it with there never being enough buttons in a pack? I am always 1 short.

Checking in for another episode. I like the recycle, reuse theme. And I like Bomber jackets though the idea of making one blows my mind.

Jellykat · 27/05/2020 21:06

HMSSophie · 27/05/2020 21:12

SHIFT not shit!

RomaineCalm · 27/05/2020 21:13

Dillite that looks fabulous.

I know they don't have much time and I may have missed a bit but are those jackets lined? Can't imagine them being particularly useful if they're not.

dillite · 27/05/2020 21:13

I wonder why we no longer make paper out of rags? It would be a great way to recycle unwanted clothes. I always feel dreadful about binning clothes that aren't in a condition to charity shop.

dillite · 27/05/2020 21:14

Mark has done quite well.

HMSSophie · 27/05/2020 21:15

Marks is lovely - for a blouson

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/05/2020 21:15

Not sure I'd wear any of them but they don't look too bad.
