Starts on monday, I don't want to say anything about Jacks personality and get the thread deleted but I'm going to be interested to see how it goes. Jamie's show has been great even now he's just filming on his phone and I've picked up lots of tips - like the roasting of veg then blending to make a pasta sauce. After all of Jacks deleted tweets she's set the bar very high for herself and I'm hoping she does smash it

The Guardian loved JM because she was one of the 'deserving poor ' and, fortuitously, rather photogenic, and not bloated through years of poor diet and with missing teeth because the impossibility of finding an NHS dentist.

She won't care about my opinion, but I think she is attractive, intelligent, articulate and ambitious, just not a very nice or honest person, and is mediocre presenter.

She is awkward, gabbles her lines, loses her place in the script, doesn't explain what she is doing, fidgets like a toddler, and freezes then gives weird answers to basic questions.

Smellbellina · 24/04/2020 18:04

Did anyone catch the awkward look between them this morning when she said ‘you can easily find us in Twitter’ 😂

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 24/04/2020 18:38

Yup. And when she spoke over him (robbed his lines) just before the pea shoot growing bit.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 24/04/2020 18:40

Sorry that was robbed his lines ? Note question mark.

Something happened. He muttered. Her eyes went as wide as a plate of chickpeas.

Deleting tweets? Surely not HmmGrin

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 25/04/2020 13:52

No announcement apart from a note to treat yourself? to what? a tin of chickpeas?

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/04/2020 14:20

Chickpeas are fine but butter beans make far superior hummus. Try it.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 25/04/2020 15:38

I give it 3 days.

JemimaTab · 25/04/2020 16:30

I think her best plan at this point would be to do lots of YouTube recipes - then she can build up some presentation experience (assuming she wants to get more TV work). I’m not sure why she’s resisted this before.

TofutiKline · 25/04/2020 17:14

Ruby Tandoh was on Bake Off. She was the queen of faux modesty - she’d stand there shuffling her feet, eyes downcast, seemingly close to tears, muttering “Oh my god don’t even look at it. It’s disgusting. I’m so sorry. It’ll probably poison you. I hate myself” and then when the judges said that actually it was very good she’d sigh and roll her eyes and blow her hair off her forehead like someone who’d just narrowly avoided stepping in front of a bus.

Rather earnest and humourless and took herself way too seriously.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 25/04/2020 17:51

The social media break didn’t even last 3 hours let alone 3 days. Hmm

Still now it would appear that the shed is being cleared out. You may be right @JemimaTab

I’ll be happy enough if it is a YouTube production. Only people who want to see her can seek her out. I just don’t want her foisted onto me on normal tv thanks.

If I wanted to pay a licence to watch gurning I’d watch Les Dawson re-runs. Although to be fair, she is better at gurning and inadvertently funnier.

The mighty Les is better all round.

And less said about MST the better.

She bloody ruined that season of gbbo for me. Another one with an eye for presenting stardom methinks instead of getting on with the job at hand.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 25/04/2020 17:58

MST =ms t

JemimaTab · 25/04/2020 18:03

At least you wouldn’t catch Cissie & Ada anywhere near a chick pea.

Grin

They’d be hoiking their bosoms right up at the very thought Jem

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/04/2020 20:48

Jamie’s cooking show on the other hand, at least he has a personality and I love his wife and dc are involved now filling it for him.

I never particularly warmed to Jamie (as a person vs as a chef) but in this "what have you got in your fridge" programme, with his wife and family he comes across as lovely!

A really loving dad and husband. I like him (but wish he wouldn't shovel a gobful of food in and then moan "Ooooh -that's sooo good!")

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/04/2020 21:00

It must have been heartbreaking to have gone for an interview, believed that with all your experience of books/blogs/newspaper articles about using store cupboard ingredients you were perfect for the job only to see it go to someone else

Most of us have experienced not getting a job at some time in our lives - and often to someone less qualified. It's life. It's a bugger but you just get on with it.

I like that Jamie Oliver has given it no oxygen, no acknowledgement at all, despite her multiple tagging of him on Twitter, he hasn't responded at all to the pack of wolves she set on him. Now that's professional.

I agree. He has had more sense than to get dragged into her drama.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 30/04/2020 22:03

Well it didn’t take long for the beeb persona to disappear and the real one to take its place... again.

JemimaTab · 30/04/2020 22:15

She’s been having a (well, yet another) right old meltdown over on Twitter/Insta today. The usual threats of legal action bandied about, reference to feeling suicidal, and general ranting and raving. A lot of it already deleted, as per her usual style. Although only last night she was posting about how happy she was in her new homemade studio/shed. I’m not sure what kicked it all off but I really don’t think she’s well. This veering from one extreme to another is concerning.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 30/04/2020 22:33

Tweet delete is pretty much par for the course so I’m not surprised.

I am surprised that she is saying she is a tv presenter. No denying she was on tv but I personally think presenter is somewhat over reaching.

I am famous. I was on page 4 of our local paper. I believe I may over egg puddings.

I don’t over egg chickpeas much.

KaronAVyrus · 30/04/2020 22:56

Somebody really needs to take her phone off her (and smash it with a hammer)

JemimaTab · 30/04/2020 23:23

She’s not doing herself any favours if she wants to maintain a media career. She’s just too volatile.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 01/05/2020 14:10

If she carries on with her frothing (and bloody rich that they chutter on about others spending all their time frothing) I doubt that auntie beeb will come a knocking again. And you would wonder if anyone else would fancy a shot either.

I’m torn. Sometimes mostly I’m thinking she gets right on my chebs.

Im wondering if I should feel pity now. But then off she goes again and I think not.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/05/2020 07:55

I missed all this, but I hope she can seek some form of help, this isn't healthy and I think it would do her career if not just her mental health the world of good to come off social media for a while.

Who was she threatening legal action against?

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 02/05/2020 11:21

Have to say that I’m loving MT on his own again. He seems positively chirpy.

JemimaTab · 02/05/2020 12:30

Agreed - it must help that he’s just able to get on and do his job without having to prompt and handhold someone else as well.
