Starts on monday, I don't want to say anything about Jacks personality and get the thread deleted but I'm going to be interested to see how it goes. Jamie's show has been great even now he's just filming on his phone and I've picked up lots of tips - like the roasting of veg then blending to make a pasta sauce. After all of Jacks deleted tweets she's set the bar very high for herself and I'm hoping she does smash it

OP posts:

Love that this thread hasn’t been deleted Grin

SplatPancake · 22/04/2020 23:11

Don’t jinx it Wotno

WotnoPasta · 22/04/2020 23:16

Soz!!

@WickedlyPetite

sorry my mistake, didn't realise JM didn't have an interview. But she must have known all about the programme from her partner who is a Channel 4 executive.

I like that Jamie Oliver has given it no oxygen, no acknowledgement at all, despite her multiple tagging of him on Twitter

Let's face it he does not want to get involved. He has not had a good year, so does not need any more criticism or bad press. Last Summer, his restaurant business failed spectacularly , over a thousand people lost their jobs mostly by email! He is probably still licking his wounds.
He is probably so happy do be doing another cookery programme, who knows maybe this will be his last, he HAS DONE EVERYTHING ELSE. I predict it will be the Oliver Family Cooking programme next, where all his kids actually do the cooking. Remember you heard it heard it here first!

By the way, I viewed a couple of episodes yesterday of JO's programme. They were beautifully produced and filmed. Does he have lots of cameras in his "fake family tv kitchen" as he had shots from all sorts of angles and close ups. I thought they were "simply" being filmed on their phones??????? Really????

#freeMatt

Nice forearms. I am just going to read back through this thread because I don’t want to post anything that will get the thread deleted but just to say I am pleased to see that we are actually allowed to discuss this now.

WickedlyPetite · 23/04/2020 12:22

I only had today’s episode on in the background while I was doing other stuff, because I heard Nadia had had a power cut and couldn’t be there. So I only caught a couple of bits of it... I saw the dishing up of yet another pan of brown slop (she herself called it “sloppy”). Not quite sure what it was.

And an absolutely corking question/answer session from Twitter...

Question: “Why does mince come with different amounts of fat?”

JM: “It just does, doesn’t it... some of it has it taken out, some of it has it added in”.

Matt: “Well, it depends on the cut, minced fillet will have less fat than shoulder or belly”.

JM (talking over Matt): “Yeah, yeah it depends on the cut”.
...Awkward Silence...

Reading it can’t even do the sheer level of cringe justice. If anyone wants to catch it on IPlayer it’s probably about just under 40 minutes in. Grin

Bagelsforbrains · 23/04/2020 12:33

I am torn because I don’t want to give her the viewing figures. I wish there was a hatewatch button.

JemimaTab · 23/04/2020 12:46

WickedlyPetite I cringed just reading that.

WotnoPasta · 23/04/2020 13:09

What’s with the thesaurus every time she describes food - lovely, succulent, delicious blah blah blah.

SplatPancake · 23/04/2020 13:36

Like the mince (5%, 10%, etc) she just DOES,WotNo

KaronAVyrus · 23/04/2020 14:01

I find it very interesting that she’s written so many cook books but seems to be very ignorant about a lot of food. No real in-depth knowledge or understanding.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 23/04/2020 14:46

I often cringe myself to a size 8 on the inside @WickedlyPetite

That might just be enough to sook in my quite frankly galumphing outsides to match.

I shall watch it later.

Love twiggy x

I am much more than 10% fat. I’m not sure why. I just am. Grin

JemimaTab · 23/04/2020 17:03

I am finding the obsession with tinned food (especially bloody chickpeas) a bit baffling. Where I shop, tins are mostly sold out but there is plenty of fresh stuff. Why not do an item on what to do with particular veggies you may not have used much before, e.g. something you find in a veg box? And if we’re still (apparently) obsessed with lentils/legumes, why not an item on using the dry rather than tinned ones (much cheaper and they keep forever)?

Handiies · 23/04/2020 17:26

This feels like I'm walking into tattle. Confused

Very mean considering jack is on MN.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 23/04/2020 17:30

Amen @JemimaTab

If I wanted to eat gloop like some of what has been served, I’d be doing me a mischief so that I could go into the Hilton. The Bangkok one.

I don’t, so I won’t.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 23/04/2020 19:04

Tattle is like the little fish that nibbles dead skin off your toes on holiday whereas MN is land of the piranha.

Don’t kid on this is some compassionate nirvana.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/04/2020 19:12

Very mean considering jack is on MN.

I'm on MN too. Does that mean everyone should stop criticising me when I post 'humour' that no-one else finds funny?

Does this apply in RL too? Can I tell DW to stop moaning about how shit I am in bed? At the very least can I stop her complaining to my Mum about it?

TofutiKline · 23/04/2020 21:04

I’m cringing just reading the mince bit 😳

Janaih · 23/04/2020 21:27

Me too, I was thinking I'll have to watch it but not sure I could handle the cringe Confused

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 23/04/2020 21:52

About 4 minutes in did anyone else see a big fidgety jump and then hear a slightly panicky ‘I don’t have my cards’?

Cards with facts about mince?’

Anyway I think I managed the physical impossibility of cringing to a size 8 (inside and out).

However I did that big of a sigh of relief when it finished that I breathed myself back out to my large normality.

And I defy her to laugh continually at that.

I wasn’t laughing. Her oft mentioned underpinning was no longer underpinning anything for me.

Claim for beetroot hummus.

Tomorrow she will be cooking a wheel.

TofutiKline · 23/04/2020 22:37

Just watched a few random snippets.

Well for starters she comes across as absolutely terrified. Stiff and ill at ease which is uncomfortable to watch. She’s also got an unfortunate speaking voice; nasal and unpleasant.

The male presenter doesn’t like her much does he.

WotnoPasta · 23/04/2020 23:12

I don’t even think the beetroot hummus was a good recipe. You can’t use the stuff in jars? So you have to go buy beetroot.
Surely making some normal hummus (with the 4 million tins of chickpeas she has) and then suggesting some store cupboard flavours might have been more useful.
I myself am making hummus with peanut butter tomorrow thanks to this thread (chickpeas are 2 years out of date but I don’t care). Y’know, to use stuff in cupboards up.

I actually worked briefly for a food business. The owner/cook was a bit like this. She was obsessed with copyrighting her recipes, everything came from the fucking BBC food website. She also acted like she was the only person who had ever made food. Also untrained.

Handiies · 23/04/2020 23:35

Mn is about helping and supporting women. Not tearing down someone that's a mum trying to work.

I'm shocked this thread has not been deleted yet.

MN is sinking to the same levels as tattle. It's grim

BillieEilish · 23/04/2020 23:52

skippingmatt Grin

OK, I've now gone off all things pulsey.

The mince convo was amazing and I am glad I had had the heads up for that.

I am sad tomorrow is the last one. It is rare to find such a car crash TV programme.

The PP that said Matt had nice forearms is a PP totally after my own heart.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/04/2020 23:52

Mn is about helping and supporting women.

As you are new to MN, may I suggest avoiding the AIBU forum?
