I so totally agree with you! It's grim. Do people not have more important things to worry about at the moment?
Surely this question applies to almost all of MN? Seems a bit strange to complain that a thread on the TV section of a discussion forum is discussing a TV program.
You mean the Dad who is a multi multi millionaire chef who really needs the work? The one who made over a 1,000 jobless last year when his restaurant business failed? The one who tells us to make fresh pasta if you can't find the dried stuff! Because finding 00 flour is so easy.
FWIW, I'm absolutely fine with you criticising Jamie Oliver. I agree that we should be able to moan about wealthy celebrities.
No one has made threats against JM, talked about her kid or been abusive towards her. The main criticisms have been:
- Her recipies are poor.
- Her cookery knowlege seems terrible for a TV cook.
- She's a poor presenter.
- She seems to make contradictory statements about her past and her health.
- She very emotively asks for money from her (on average) working class fan base.
- She is a bit of a SM bully.
All of those seem fair game to me, they all have a reasonable basis, even if you disagree.
Great that you like her but it seems very odd to come and tell people not to criticise her. The same thing seems to happen on Twitter- I saw a tweeter claiming to have had death threats because he said he didn't like the show. That's not a healthy fandom.
