Starts on monday, I don't want to say anything about Jacks personality and get the thread deleted but I'm going to be interested to see how it goes. Jamie's show has been great even now he's just filming on his phone and I've picked up lots of tips - like the roasting of veg then blending to make a pasta sauce. After all of Jacks deleted tweets she's set the bar very high for herself and I'm hoping she does smash it

@SunshineCake

No worries flower. Enjoy. Grin

I so totally agree with you! It's grim. Do people not have more important things to worry about at the moment?

Surely this question applies to almost all of MN? Seems a bit strange to complain that a thread on the TV section of a discussion forum is discussing a TV program.

You mean the Dad who is a multi multi millionaire chef who really needs the work? The one who made over a 1,000 jobless last year when his restaurant business failed? The one who tells us to make fresh pasta if you can't find the dried stuff! Because finding 00 flour is so easy.

FWIW, I'm absolutely fine with you criticising Jamie Oliver. I agree that we should be able to moan about wealthy celebrities.

No one has made threats against JM, talked about her kid or been abusive towards her. The main criticisms have been:

  • Her recipies are poor.
  • Her cookery knowlege seems terrible for a TV cook.
  • She's a poor presenter.
  • She seems to make contradictory statements about her past and her health.
  • She very emotively asks for money from her (on average) working class fan base.
  • She is a bit of a SM bully.

All of those seem fair game to me, they all have a reasonable basis, even if you disagree.

Great that you like her but it seems very odd to come and tell people not to criticise her. The same thing seems to happen on Twitter- I saw a tweeter claiming to have had death threats because he said he didn't like the show. That's not a healthy fandom.

Loving the ladies saying Wales invented lamb.

All the money saved by the thrifty cooking might mean that new trainers can be bought?

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/04/2020 14:55

Just seen on twitter there's an announcement coming this evening about something new next week..

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 24/04/2020 14:57

Is it a programme about MT running for the hills, foraging as he goes?

And lobbing a pair of trainers in the nearest reservoir?

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 24/04/2020 15:00

Is she going to be in health check live?

Or are the trainers?

BillieEilish · 24/04/2020 15:02

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 24/04/2020 15:02

Are they growing lentils or chickpeas in them?

BillieEilish · 24/04/2020 15:03

Hours of fun if she is somehow presenting again.

DameXanaduBramble · 24/04/2020 15:07

I’ve only recently discovered Jack M. So far all I’ll say is when she comes on my TV it goes off.

Crismelissarose · 24/04/2020 15:11

Announcement this evening about next week:

  1. I bet JM has been given her own show !

Or

  1. Daily Kitchen Live will continue next week as people love it so much!

Or

  1. JM and JO (or Jack and Jamie) will do a show together!

Grin Smile Grin Smile

@chrismelissarose

  1. Hell no.
  2. With just MT? I’m ok with that.
  3. Hell no.

Maybe 4. What not to wear? (Really just don’t wear that)

  1. The daily bulletin for cv19? All that gurning and giggling will make it all sound positively cheery.
  1. A programme dedicated to the canning process/chickpeas/lentils?
  1. How I invented the ... show? Like a new tomorrow’s world?
mogloveseggs · 24/04/2020 16:53

Had a quick watch of this yesterday.

It's just so clunky and awkward.
Nothing like Saturday kitchen which I love.

Janaih · 24/04/2020 16:57

JM and Gregg Wallace do a show together Grin

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/04/2020 17:04

Did anyone else see the tweet about the announcement this evening? It appears to have now been deleted! I'm sure I didn't dream it Hmm

Though another tweet seems to hint at it being her own YouTube Channel?

Also, now tweeting about how she's turned these types of jobs down forever..

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/04/2020 17:05

Also, now tweeting about how she's turned these types of jobs down forever..*

I meant jobs like Daily Kitchen Live not YouTube channels. I'd be interested to know which shows she's turned down over the years.

MrsEsss · 24/04/2020 17:08

I'm guessing this is one of Jack's very angry fans? I don't think Jack is a natural presenter which isn't a criticism; presenting isn't for everyone. Seeing someone so stilted and awkward makes me realise how talented those presenters are (such as Matt T) who make it look effortless. Many times Jack would be completely silent when making food and Matt would have to fill in. She also also seemed to to have strange reactions and looks to the camera and her little comments seemed to have something else behind them.

Didn't Ruby Tandoh win Bake Off one year? And there was some scandal about her but can't remember what.

JellyfishandShells · 24/04/2020 17:13

Ruby was forever making passive aggressive remarks and sighing.

SunshineCake · 24/04/2020 17:16

And was accused of being all doe eyed towards Paul Hollywood.

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/04/2020 17:21

I'm going to have to watch it now.Wink

MrsEsss · 24/04/2020 17:41

Ah, I wondered why she had a blue tick next to her name.

Janaih · 24/04/2020 17:47

Matt very quickly learned to deal with difficult and awkward guests on Saturday kitchen, and had very big shoes to fill. He has made the show his own, as they say. Good to see him handling the trolls with aplomb.
