Apologies if there's already a thread, but I couldn't see one. Anyone watching? Apparently this is a new series.

I'm waiting for the bench seats to make their inevitable appearance......Grin

Or excellent episode even!🙄

BlueCowWonders · 20/06/2020 14:31

And that almost ended up as excellent 'epipen'
Just like Robert, autocorrect assumes too much...

TreeTopTim · 21/06/2020 11:08

This couple wanted to change their hallway and he changed their whole downstairs. NOT what they asked for. I am glad that they tried it and showed that it wouldn't work. How many people don't try and then regret it. I don't think I could live in an open plan house. The smells from the kitchen, the sound of the washing machine, having nowhere to go when you want a bit of peace from others.

runningon · 21/06/2020 19:28

They never seem to have single clients on this show? Or have I missed them? Surely not everyone who has building work is in a couple or a family?

The architects do seem to hate each other...to be fair I think I would end up hating them both if I had to work with them, they are both arrogant and annoying, but in different ways!

LadyEloise · 21/06/2020 19:32

I thought they were a bit daft. There was a perfectly good size area to the right hand side of the house ( looking at it). They could have easily extended to there.

MrsJamin · 21/06/2020 20:58

Listening to Laura's live chat she did on Instagram, I think Angela, Robert and Laura get on really well actually.

CoolShoeshine · 21/06/2020 22:03

It was good this week, I was gobsmacked when they picked Robert’s design but I think that was a fib to shock the viewers. They were always going to pick Laura’s.
It seems that Robert is getting more and more outlandish, I don’t think he wants his designs in ‘ordinary’ houses and is using the programme to get publicity among the ‘Grand Designs’ type clientele.

MrsJamin · 22/06/2020 06:51

It's quite striking Laura won 6 out of 7 on this series, that's not really a very balanced competition is it? I wonder how many people do this process up to the VR design and then don't pick either design, I mean they don't have to do one of the two designs in their house!

LadyEloise · 22/06/2020 09:20

Laura won 6 out of 7.
Having heard Robert being interviewed on radio, he really is passionate about design and the environment.
It must be really frustrating if you have a vision or dream but very few people "get it".

icelolly99 · 22/06/2020 09:53

runningon I presume they use couples because the premise is that they can't decide between themselves what to do to make the house right.

Brillig · 23/06/2020 20:04

Ah dammit - I thought tonight's was new but it's a repeat. Booooo!

I'm really confused. Isn't series 2, episode 7 on tonight? Or have I gotten muddled??

FeltCarrot · 23/06/2020 20:16

According to the Instagram page, episode 6 was the finale of series 2.
I really don’t understand why they have messed the episodes around, showing 5/6 then waiting a few weeks, showing 6/6 then the following week the last episode of series 1. It’s really annoying.

BitOfFun · 23/06/2020 20:36

But this is the infamous Temple On The Hill episode!

Notmyrealname855 · 23/06/2020 20:45

Oh my gosh I have wondered if there was MN thread on this for ages!!

Omg Robert, try a little!! This temple on a hill... what about the neighbours and right to light etc? Bloody crazy!

The presenter reminds me of someone in real life who’s quite aggressive but think I’m projecting!

WhenPushComesToShove · 23/06/2020 20:57

Robert's teeth though.... sorry but someone needed to say it 😆

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 23/06/2020 21:25

Whenpushcomestoshove
Actually people have already been unnecessarily rude about the architects’ appearance and I don’t think it went down that well. Because why would it?

Cruddles · 23/06/2020 21:26

I missed this first time round, was quite shocked by the temple on the hill, even for Robert that was quite out there

HotFlower26 · 23/06/2020 22:30

I also missed this 1st time round, temple on the hill Confused

LadyEloise · 24/06/2020 17:50

The temple on the hill in the small garden of a lovely Victorian terrace. Shock
The neighbours would go apesh*t.
Bad enough to have drums being played beside you but all your privacy and light taken too.

Does he think things through?

Does he think the problem is 'them not me' re his designs not being chosen.

The temple on the hill would suit a home with large gardens and a quirky owner or an owner who likes quirky things.

Cruddles · 24/06/2020 19:31

I think he using it as an advertising platform rather than trying to win the bid

Tablefor4 · 26/06/2020 22:32

aahhh... which is the temple on the hill programme? I thought I;d watched them all and on iPlayer (those that are up)

LadyEloise · 28/06/2020 09:27

It was on last Tuesday or Wednesday but it was a repeat I think.

googledontknow · 30/06/2020 15:45

The temple on the hill was so funny, yeah right you could get planning permission for that! Your neighbours could probably murder you if you built that, and be let off by any judge in the land Grin

Nith · 08/04/2021 17:55

This has turned up on BBC2 and I watched it for the first time last night. I must say, I did wonder who the programme makers were bribing in local planning departments to get these fairly hefty extension plans through so quickly, let alone where the owners were finding the magic money trees to enable them to come very close to rebuilding their entire house. Wouldn't it have been easier just to move?

I see from this thread that the airport-style bench seating is a bit of a regular Thing with Robert: as soon as I saw it I hated it. I wonder what would happen if someone cut the entire presentation short by turning to him as soon as they appeared and saying "I'm sorry, I hate those seats, if you can't think of an alternative you may as well give up now".

Also from last night: what on earth was the point of the upside down house? I know people do that sort of thing when they have a lovely view that can be appreciated from the first floor, but why would you bother when the only view is of a fairly unexciting suburban garden?
