Apologies if there's already a thread, but I couldn't see one. Anyone watching? Apparently this is a new series.

I'm waiting for the bench seats to make their inevitable appearance......Grin

Robert Jamison was interviewed on RTE Radio 1 ( Irish state radio) by Brendan O'Connor last weekend.
Interesting insight.
Sorry I can't do links - perhaps somebody could link it for me. It's The Weekend on One show. RTE Sat 2nd May Part Two

BitOfFun · 08/05/2020 21:45

@covetingthepreciousthings, I'm a total instanovice- can you (or anybody) show me what to click on to actually view the video?

Ah, it's ok, I've worked it out on my slightly less ancient phone!

LadyEloise · 08/05/2020 23:58

Thank you fascinated

rosegoldwatcher · 09/05/2020 10:13

For the PP who enquired, upthread, about The Great Interior Design Challenge - series 2, 3 and 4 are on Amazon Prime.

JellyTotsGrewTooBig · 09/05/2020 10:19

Thanks @LadyEloise & @fascinated.

That interview was really good. I don’t always love his plans (although I often do) but I absolutely agree with Robert’s premise. Our last house had been designed by the previous owners when they renovated and extended it. The style would blow you away at first, but actually living in it was a different matter. The biggest most “wow” room was the huge kitchen/diner/living space. It looked amazing and I will admit that it had loads of storage and work surface which I loved, but it was a cold, dark room because of the location within the house and it actually wasn’t that nice a room to be in. The room we spent most of the time in was actually the small front room because it had the most light, but equally, I hated that we were permanently on show because we were all of 3m from the road.

I loved what he said about how we should care less about what other people think, and make our homes more playful spaces.

It’s well worth a listen - start at 15.30min in and his segment lasts around 15min

LadyEloise · 09/05/2020 10:22

Glad you enjoyed it,JellyTotsGrowTooBig

LadyEloise · 09/05/2020 10:31

The interview does give you an insight into his beliefs re design.
Personally his designs are not for me.
However another Northern Irish architect, Jane Burnside, would be one I'd consider if I ever won the lottery Smile
I saw an example of her work on another tv show called Home of the Year on RTE 1 tv.
It was fab.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 10/05/2020 13:23

Thanks for that fascinated that was really interesting listening to him.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/05/2020 13:33

Thank you for the link, that was really interesting. I like his beliefs too but I don't think his designs are for me either. Not that I'd ever be able to afford an architect.

SecondaryBurnzzz · 12/05/2020 00:05

I really like the show, and love Robert's visions. (Not so keen on the bench seats either tbh). Don't think the Brighton one is on catchup, but will see if I can find it elsewhere.

covetingthepreciousthings · 12/05/2020 10:34

Thanks for the podcast link, very interesting, and I think he raised some good points. A lot of renovations does seem to be for the benefit of estate agents down the line opposed to actual living.

I also agree we need to care less what people think.

Looking forward to tonight's show!

BlueCowWonders · 12/05/2020 14:24

I think they've shuffled the schedule and it's not on tonight ☹️

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/05/2020 15:05

What? Why isn't it on. I want normal things to watch.
I don't want stuff that is about Covid

covetingthepreciousthings · 12/05/2020 16:55

Yep just seen Angela Scanlon has confirmed it's not on tonight due to weird scheduling, should be back in a few weeks! Which is frustrating as it's the last in the series.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/05/2020 16:57

BOOO this has ruined my evening! And it's my wedding anniversary as well. In the absence of being able to go out this was my plan, with a glass of champagne!

covetingthepreciousthings · 12/05/2020 17:28

@chocolatesaltyballs22 happy anniversary ThanksWine

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/05/2020 17:30

Thank you 😊

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 12/05/2020 19:13

Happy anniversary 🥂

Not happy - I love this programme.

MrsJamin · 12/05/2020 19:54

@FlamingoAndJohn same, I just want frivolous entertaining distraction!

CoolCarrie · 12/05/2020 20:21

Happy anniversary chocolate, have your champagne anyway.

CoolCarrie · 12/05/2020 20:24

I am disappointed too,fed up of the virus and want to watch something interesting and entertaining.
The BBC better not mess with the sewing bee tomorrow!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/05/2020 20:29

Champagne - done! Great British Menu is a good alternative if you're a foodie.

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/05/2020 21:09

I’m watching Life Drawing Live.
My drawings have been dreadful though.
