I'm up for a new thread each week! I get lost when it's just one thread per series.

I have a terrible habit of buying fabric and being too scared to cut into it in case I ruin it. I'm trying to just cut it now rather than save - I had some in my stash for 3 years before I made a skirt with it!

I've bought fabric from myfabrics.com before - it's not particularly cheap postage and it takes forEVAH to arrive but the range is astounding and reasonably priced. Quality is fine too.

I bought some from Dalston Mill in mid March (panic bought fabric!) And their service was great. Good fabric too!

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 08:34

Yesterday I spent the entire afternoon Trying to make "3 yards of bias continuous bias binding in 5 minutes". I haven't even got to the stage if using the gadgets for making it that I bought during the very first series.

I suspect that 3.5 hours for a wrap skirt would be beyond me 😂😂

I consider myself to be pretty competent at sewing too.

Here are the contestants' profiles: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/Kg6CCXH0bTFC0GqnyKYjlG/meet-the-sewers

Sorry, I'm an idiot, they are last year's. I'll find the right link 😳

fei0131 · 29/04/2020 08:56

What I was trying to do there was post a link to the contestants' profiles. Making a mess of it, sorry. I'll stick to lurking. I love the programme and enjoy reading all your comments about it.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/04/2020 08:59

Thanks, that's helpful although I know I'll find the bearded men confusing until a few episodes in.

Ulysses · 29/04/2020 09:07

I loved the 90s tea-dress and the mustard and black one but without the belt. I'm not a fan of the refashioning round in general. It's rare that anyone makes anything that's remotely wearable. I know it's about being creative but c'mon.

I like it when one of the darker horses in the race pulls through. I ended up wanting Rifallo to win last year, although his finale piece was awful.

I'm trying to support my local fabric shop. It's moved a lot of it's stock on line and I've picked up a few pieces as I'd hate it to go under because of CV. It's a little haven for me.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/04/2020 09:12

I ended up wanting Rifallo to win last year, although his finale piece was awful. It's almost as if he did that on purpose, I thought. If you look at his stuff on Instagram he's incredibly talented.

Ulysses · 29/04/2020 09:37

It was such a disappointment. I've just realised his name is Riccardo and Rifallo is his Instagram name! He's such a cool guy but I barely noticed him in the earlier rounds. I recall he always interacted so well with his models.

Ulysses · 29/04/2020 09:39

(His silk patchwork dressing robe on instagram is glorious.)

donkeyoatey · 29/04/2020 09:45

I love the Great British Seeing Bee, but I do think it should be called the Great British Dressmaking Bee or Tailoring Bee instead.
They are never asked to do other types of sewing such as home furnishings like making curtains and blinds, or skills like hand or machine embroidery.

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 09:52

They made bags one year and had to embroider them I think. A series that still had May as presenter.

GoldenKelpie · 29/04/2020 10:26

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar "I find it really hard to tell Ali and Fiona apart, they have the same hair which isn't helpful to someone with a bit of face blindness". I have that difficulty too Sad.

Frenchfancy · 29/04/2020 10:53

For the blokes with beards - Peter has tattoos and likes faces, Matt has no visible tattoos and sews for drag queens. I'm no good at inventing nicknames though.

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 11:10

Peter has glasses, Matt does not.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/04/2020 11:24

Who is the one with a funny tie who is a banker (not rhyming slang).

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 11:26

He is Mark according to my crib sheet.

I was transfixed by Mark's collar to his shirt last week. It was extremely weird. Like two spaniel ears Shock

SoupDragon · 29/04/2020 11:46

Are you sure that's what they looked like?

Roussette · 29/04/2020 12:35

Not sure no Grin

Sorry it's The Sun but here is Mark with the weird shirt collar

Haggisfish · 29/04/2020 13:38

I thought he had accidentally cut his tie offGrin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/04/2020 14:22

Wow, Liz is 37? She looks early 20s.

Binglebong · 29/04/2020 14:33

Glad you enjoyed it Romaine. Just the right level of fluff. Grin
