this is really good minimal sewing no pleats and my favourite I'd you aren't going to use a filter then top stitch the top seam The complex face mask on here (scroll down) is actually not complicated but better for smaller faces, and the Juliet Uzoor one is good. www.bigcommunitysew.co.uk/

That looks doable, even for me Smile And I have a tea towel which has never been used, with a nice pattern on it.

LIZS · 19/05/2020 10:11

have made 3 of the shaped masks so far. Not hard as long as you can follow the curve. Is the pleated version on better for larger heads/wider faces though?! dh's seemed a bit tight.

You can make the shaped version bigger by adding a quarter or half inch onto the outside edge of the pattern. Or just make it bigger by 10% or whatever when you print it.

I find the pleated version more comfortable to wear, but I'll make a few shaped ones too in case my family prefer them.

thanks will give it a try.

I have some pieces cut out to try the shaped ones. If this lasts for months I found some lovely holly-printed cotton I have no memory of buying, so could do festive ones (top seller at a socially-distanced school fair maybe?).

I think we're going to need a new thread for tomorrow night!

GrandAltogetherSo · 19/05/2020 16:26

Is there a new thread yet? This one is pretty full and it's Tuesday, and less than 30 hours until the next episode. Shock

LIZS · 19/05/2020 16:56

Feel free to start one. Running low on elastic now here.

I inserted my first zip today. Made a little make up bag for a friend. I've put sweets and a mini Prosecco in it and will leave it on her doorstep tomorrow Grin

TheSparklyPussycat · 19/05/2020 19:18

That sounds delightful!

TheSparklyPussycat · 19/05/2020 19:21

Back in the 70s I got quite good at replacing zips in trousers. Apart from the legs, trousers were skin tight over the lower torso. It was a fairly common occurance to suddenly feel an unusual freedom all of a sudden, as a zip gave way under the strain!

GeraltOfRivia · 19/05/2020 19:33

I'm an 80s baby but do am dram and have dressed in several 70s outfits. I know the feeling Grin
