I'm slightly surprised no-one has commented on the clip of Patrick playing rugby. So cute. But maybe sewers are too serious to notice....😉

AravisTarkheena · 13/05/2020 23:15

Oh I noticed the rugby!

SoupDragon · 13/05/2020 23:18

I commented on the rugby!

SoupDragon · 13/05/2020 23:19

Liz saved herself with an excellent garment in the last challenge.

AravisTarkheena · 13/05/2020 23:20

I juts want Patrick to take me out for dinner. And then we call Joe and Esme and all go out for a knees up.

Roussette · 14/05/2020 08:14

Enjoyed that one, and next week I think is lingerie which will be great!

GeraltOfRivia · 14/05/2020 09:49

I thought a lot of the rugby tips looked off. Just a bit wonky.

Haggisfish · 14/05/2020 10:37

I know what you mean. I think it’s a very difficult garment and material.

SoupDragon · 14/05/2020 11:08

I think it would be really difficult to get a perfect garment in the time given. There is very little chance to go back and correct an error .

GeraltOfRivia · 14/05/2020 11:54

Plackets look a nightmare. I'm a newbie sewer and could see that taking all my time on it's own Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/05/2020 12:33

I thought I had the bearded men sussed out because one didn't wear glasses. Now they're all wearing glasses...

I have come to the opinion that there is, in fact, only one male contestant, and they make it look like three by filming them from different angles, and by utilising the skills of clever people in the make-up room.

I love the impractical grey dress

Same here. I had a dress similar to that (same colour, but no lime green on it) - it was Italian. It was lovely, and a joy to wear, but you couldn't play tennis in it. TBH - he should have gone because he didn't full the remit for a tennis dress.

T'wasn't fair.

I loved the one that won garment of the week!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/05/2020 12:35

*fulfill, not full

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/05/2020 20:53

Have you seen this? Various people, including Patrick, Esme and some of the Sewing Bee contestants, making face coverings. I should probably make a few for my family, I'm not sure whether it's going to be recommended here but it would probably be good to have a few on hand just in case.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/05/2020 20:54

I notice Joe Lycett isn't on there, perhaps Patrick or Esme will send him a few since I really doubt he can make one of his own. Grin

lovinglavidaloca · 14/05/2020 20:56

The racerback looked so complicated! I couldn’t work out what they were doing.

PenguinsRule · 15/05/2020 01:08

Oh thanks for the link with the various people making face masks - just watched Patrick and Esme’s ones. I’m not a sewer at all (a button is enough challenge for me Blush) do you think it would be easier to do P or E video or another one? I’m in quite a low infection area but see the odd mask in shops so maybe would attempt.

I’m love sewing bee even though I don’t have first clue about sewing I just trying it’s amazing to watch what they come up with. I liked the shorts and blue T-shirt combo the best tonight for M2M. I liked the toddler puddlesuits but Some just couldn’t for over a toddlers normal clothing! I didn’t really like the Velcro up the back either. That would just keep coming undone as they played and you couldn’t change a nappy that way so seemed pointless.

IntermittentParps · 15/05/2020 12:34

I think Liz should have gone. She mucked up royally twice. And I'm really tired of her 'everything's got to be punky' schtick. Not as tired as I am of 'ooh, I'm so hipster/wacky' bloke in the fucking fez though.

Patrick's ex was a stylist or somesuch. Katy someone? I wonder if there isn't a new Ms Patrick by now.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/05/2020 13:04

Loving, you basically sew the entire thing inside it, apart from one small gap, then pull it all through.

Imagine a lined coat - you sew it wrong sides together all the way around, apart from a small gap, then pull everything you've done through the gap, and sew that up when it's the right way around. Did that help? It's harder to imagine it with a racer back because it's a funny shape!

Willowmartha1 · 15/05/2020 15:58

Not sure how a toddler onesie fitted the sports theme !

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 15/05/2020 16:09

For anyone making face masks, the standard to aim for is not to have gaps at the sides, top or bottom. I have found the best way to do this is to use elastic and pull it tight through the sides so that is gathered before adding a few stitches to hold in place.

lovinglavidaloca · 15/05/2020 16:12

Ahh yes that makes sense! Thanks Polka :)

IntermittentParps · 15/05/2020 16:47

I guess the toddler onesie was a kind of 'activewear' if not specifically sportswear. And it was made from technical-ish fabric.

Iwantacampervan · 16/05/2020 08:58

Not according to the article in 'The Times' the other week (although I expect there's a long queue!)

I also think there's only one male contestant - have we ever seen them standing together?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/05/2020 11:32

Excellent point campervan. The answer has to be "No!"

TheSparklyPussycat · 16/05/2020 19:51

I would also like to know which pattern is simplest. I can hand stitch (slowly) but sewing is something I try to avoid!
