Finally watched finale. Disappointed. Series 3 was poor. You could tell it was new writer and producer.
Eve was barely there. Her development and how she felt about villanelle was totally missing this series. They were barely together, or interacted, or linked, for a few minutes, in the whole of s3. Very poor.

Never mind.

On the Bafta Facebook page there's a discussion hosted by Miranda Sawyer (I think) where she's talking to, discussing Series 3 with Fiona S, Jodie C, Sandra O and the series 'over' writer (rubbish with names and positions...)

Here's the link... If it works

m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=587277252176222&id=6830739009&sfnsn=scwspmo&extid=gW1YMJxURyL8f5pn&d=n&vh=e

It's a really good discussion and gives greater insight into the whole development of Series 3.

I wonder, now, about the editing of some scenes. It's a difficult balance between saying too much but also needing to 'round' out the characters more.

On a completely different note, I also wonder if Rhian will be back. That tube train took a long time to get to her. Enough time to squeeze into the space between the rails?

Also, if V 'reforms' won't she be less appealing to Eve who was always most fascinated by her behaviour as an assassin? And if Eve were to become more malicious, would that be not what V wants anymore (unlike the end of S2) as she attempts the transition to the 'straight and narrow'?

OMG cashew I knew Jodie was from Liverpool but had no idea that Fiona was Irish!
Thanks for that link Flowers

Cat, I didn't mean it in a dismissive way at all No, I know, I didn't mean to imply you were being dismissive.

I agree that it's a high-concept idea and has limitations built into it by its own premise. It's like the TV version of The Handmaid's Tale in that respect; go beyond the original scenario and the internal logic starts to creak.
I'm concerned about how the next series will go too.

Susiesoap7 · 07/06/2020 22:05

I love villenelle! Going to miss it Sunday nights,
Bring on the next series!

CatAndHisKit · 08/06/2020 01:02

Intermittent thanks, and yes, limited by its premise. No idea what to expect now, but will still enjoy the characters (at least), let's hope someone will think of an interesting twist.

had no idea that Fiona was Irish! I've only recently learned that too but not surprised as such - the looks and the certain depth is 'rather Irish'.
I've also found out that Fiona directs opera - no doubt the love of opera by the character, and the choice of music (incl the Purcell in her car afetr K's death) was her contribution!

Have just finished series 3 and whilst I'm still confused I really enjoyed it.
And Fiona Shaw is just outstanding!

Dear Geraldine,
I think it's time you left.

I didn't realise there was going to be series 4. I really wish programmes would not be dragged out for series after series when they just go downhill after the first one.

The Affair was good for the first series then rubbish. Homeland was the same. I found this series of Killing Eve boring and really could not wait for the end. I don't think I will waste any more of my time watching another series

Blobby10 · 17/06/2020 14:02

Watched the final episode last night and agree with many of you that it was boring compared to the others. It would have been so much better if it had ended with E and V just keeping walking but that stupid turning around? Bleeuurggh. It felt totally wrong - on the other hand JC facial expressions as she was walking away were outstanding as they were when Carolyn shot the Michael Gove lookalike.
