I am not a huge fan of Brian whatshisname but Jim Davidson is being at total tosser to him and I am disappointed with Paul Young for standing there and saying nothing.

oh he has always been a c**t tho hasnt he

he could only have been put on a show like that because that's exactly the kind of display they wanted him to put on

Peachy · 13/09/2007 11:11

My BF at school (and a close mate stull), her Dad was JD's joke writer

Some of the stuff he used to try out on us- we thought we were way cool but SO inappropriate! Lovely man her Dad, died way too young but the jokes were completely unacceptable, certainly now if not then (1980's)

There's a whole generation of comedians he used to write for that are now no longer considered acceptable- and its no bloody wonder! Strangly though, I never knew the man himself to be nasty or intolerant of anyone, he realised I had a rough time at home and really helped more than anyone else- always taking me off at weekends etc. REALLY miss him

No idea how that humour came from that source, friend really didn't like JD though- nothing nice to say about him AT ALL

smeeinit · 13/09/2007 11:16

blimey peachy even his friends thought he was a twat!

VladimireIlychUlyanovPan · 13/09/2007 11:32

morning eckstardelux, and welcolme.

crossma · 13/09/2007 11:49

I wish tv would stop scrapping the barrel with the likes of JDavidson but he must be cheep and so must the greater majority of the new lot who appear on tv. I have switched off/over the tv when just one person appears on a programme I like because I cannot bare the thought of them making money for talent they don't have. Yep I watch little tv these days.

DaisyMOO · 13/09/2007 11:53

I saw Hell's Kitchen last week and could belieeeeve JD. I can't believe there hasn't been an outcry like there was with Jade Goody and Shilpa.

I don't think MN Towers should worry too much about libel wrt the thread title - surely libellous statements have to be untrue?!

hatwoman · 13/09/2007 12:09

I haven't seen this program but how come JD isn;t being subject to Big Brother-style bollockings? Is he "clever" (I hesitate to use that word in the context of Jim Davidson)enough to stay just about on the right side of "acceptable" or is it that it's ok because it's "funny"?

hatwoman · 13/09/2007 12:10

cross-posted daisy!

hatwoman · 13/09/2007 12:10

actually, looking at the times we didn;t "cross post" I just didn;t read properly

Carmenere · 13/09/2007 12:12

I suspect they got rid of him just before he said anything too offensive or indeed he may have done already and they just didn't show it. It is a heavily edited programme after all.

hatwoman - he was asked to leave so he has been "told off" by ITV.

He made me furious when he said he was "normal"

How many wives has he been through?: That's "normal" is it?

Not sure if it will boost his ratings - I guess those who like him will still like him and those (sensible and decent) people will still think he's a k**b and not go anywhere near him.

I though Angus' comment about him going back to where he lives - in the 1970s was pretty good

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 13/09/2007 13:56

When all the friends and family came to the restaurant Jim had no-one turn up for him and said he was a loner.

I think the no friends and family is a bit telling so (and don't shout me down for this) I actually pity the man.

I know a lot of people, family included, who have really screwed up views/opinions of things and in truth it's their problem, they are the ones with issues and although what they say can be hurtful at the heart of it I pity them because they really don't know any better.

mylastrolo · 13/09/2007 14:03

jje it was a bit odd!!! he has issues as barry says needs sorting.

Tommy · 13/09/2007 14:25

I think you're right judgejudy. did you see him after he was chucked out? whining about "who looks out for me?"

lou33 · 13/09/2007 14:31

wasnt he a bit of a shit to his wives? or am i imagining that?

UnquietDad · 13/09/2007 14:32

He's had several wives, hasn't he? I wonder if they shared his views?

Hurlyburly · 13/09/2007 14:34

Come the Hurly revolution, Jim will be the first against the wall.

Or maybe the second .

Okay maybe the third

Anyhow he's in my top three. Definitely.

LIZS · 13/09/2007 14:34

think he has admitted domestic violence , possibly alcohol induced, in the past . Wikipedia mentions "substance abuse" too

lou33 · 13/09/2007 14:35

i thought i read some article years ago saying he had knocked one or more of htem about, and was a drinker, or maybe i was wrong?

Boco · 13/09/2007 14:38

There is something about Jim Davidson - he looks like he'd smell of very concentrated urine.

LIZS · 13/09/2007 14:39

He went bankrupt last year over a tax bill.

lou33 · 13/09/2007 14:43

probably why he is on telly then, needs cash

missgriss · 13/09/2007 15:04

I saw him once in Jenners in Edinburgh. He was very scruffy and loud. He was revelling in the attention people were giving him (we are talking 10 years ago here)

I think he has to be pitied too tbh. I can't condone his views at all but he is a very sad figure.

Thanks, Pruners, I am now going to be thinking about a soiled Davidson all day. And I was just about to have a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Some images just stay with you and won't go away no matter how much you'd like them to. The last one to have that effect on me was the rat swimming round in the overflowing toilet from the last series of "Sea of Souls".
