OMG!

What did I watch?

The music videos absolutely floored me! Grin how amazing were they? Cat lady and her husband sitting gushing over their video while the film maker was sitting trying to hold in all the cringe Grin

That funeral speech! Shock who the hell jokes about their husbands testicles at their funeral??? With his mum there? And why wasn’t his mum appalled? (Was she high? She looked high) and then the singing? It was at this point I decided it was definitely all staged and they were actors. But no. It’s all real.

What about sleazy McMaster crook Lowe sleazing over the new nanny right to his pregnant wife’s face! Ewww. How are women attracted to these men?

Yes he seemed so different. Travis was there in the background and the staff were all perky. It was 2011 wasn't it. I think the Carole Baskin stuff took over for him.

Yeah he seemed to become totally fixated on Carole. Although you could tell in the Louis doc he was already really stressed, talking about money worries and saying he would kill all the animals if he had to close. PETA were already targeting him and costing him money, and Louis even mentioned how stressed he was asking “are you always like this?” He was particularly jumpy/agitated that day when Louis asked that. So you can see the start of his spiral. I can see his in the midst of all the above, a bit of negative attention from an “uppity woman” could become the target for all his stress and anger. Carole wasn’t a big faceless organisation like peta- she was just one woman so in his head I could see why she would be the easiest target for him. And he just let it take over his life.

Omg at that conspiracy meme and at the post earlier saying the alligators belonged to Michael Jackson - wtf!

They were all so venal and unprincipled and drug addled and sad really.

Carole is definitely ruthless, I agree and also Joe was set up but it’s hard to feel sorry for him. The Travis scene was so shocking. His mum was off her head as well but I don’t blame her.

We binge watched over 2 days. I hope Antle gets shut down too. And Carole.

Saff was the only person I would buy a drink for. They came over well.
The whole thing was a car crash. I wanted to stop watching but salute the way the narrative was driven/edited - you would have thought it was a telenovella. You couldn't have made half that shit up. It made for an incredible binge watch with a very good conclusion, bringing it back to the animals. Well done Net of Flix.

I finished this in two nights. Oh my days it was compelling stuff. You genuinely couldn’t write it! I definitely agree that all of them were abusive...manipulating vulnerable people at their lowest. Joe having the wedding to his new husband Dillon with his dead’s husband’s Mum there was so crass! The whole thing was bonkers. I do think Joe was set up but the way he treated the animals was so cruel. Pulling that cub away Shock it wouldn’t surprise me if Dillon leaves him now he’s in prison.

Carol Baskin with the faux laughter whenever her ‘missing’ husband was mentioned was bizarre. Her being a prostitute makes a lot of sense. She didn’t really practise what she preached with the care of her big cats though, they were still in tiny cages. There’s a tiger in a wildlife park near us, she has a huge amount of space to roam around in.

I am loving all the memes about this. This is my favourite.

After a bit of reading up on it I'm glad to say it seems her animals actually have a huge space and those tiny bits are for feeding and so they can do things in the larger spaces as needed.
Also a lot of evidence against joe that was unseen which makes sense with the jury returning so fast.

Penfolds I think the H that ‘disappeared’ was very wealthy. She moved most of his assets into her own name when he went missing, her children said they hardly saw any of it when he was declared dead. It wasn’t clear if her new husband was wealthy.

TBF to carol- her husband had actually removed his children from his will because they had apparently come after him for more money when his divorce from his first wife was settled. They didn’t think she got enough. By the sounds of things they were all money hungry.

The Tiger King and I was a bit crap, even for an aftershow/reunion thing and I normally like Joel McHale.
It was too pally, totally ignored new info that's out : Doc raid, Tim Stark trial, Joe's request for presidential pardon, his mum's suicide, Carole's refuting of content bigcatrescue.org/refuting-netflix-tiger-king/
Very odd really - I would have preferred a more factual one and wonder whether they are just trying to keep everyone sweet in case they end up doing a sequel. Ah well.

Me too tiara so I watched Louis Theroux's encounter with him on iplayer instaed - it's also on netflix I think - and it was much more satisfying, like a prequel.
