What did I watch?

The music videos absolutely floored me! Grin how amazing were they? Cat lady and her husband sitting gushing over their video while the film maker was sitting trying to hold in all the cringe Grin

That funeral speech! Shock who the hell jokes about their husbands testicles at their funeral??? With his mum there? And why wasn’t his mum appalled? (Was she high? She looked high) and then the singing? It was at this point I decided it was definitely all staged and they were actors. But no. It’s all real.

What about sleazy McMaster crook Lowe sleazing over the new nanny right to his pregnant wife’s face! Ewww. How are women attracted to these men?

The interesting thing about this was that all the people owning cats were abusive and exploting the cats

Joe Exotic was using the cats to make money, leverage over vulnerable people (ex-convicts, drug addicts, with nothing), get husbands.
Antle- money, leverage over women (young inexperienced vulnerable women) for sex and 'wives'
Baskin - fame, money, power. Her sanctuary is a zoo by another name IMO.
Lowe - leverage over women and sex (cats in the hotel, the nanny (!), swinging), money, power.

I wondered why the toothless husband didn’t get some new teeth instead of yet another gun or car!

It was extraordinary viewing. I wonder how much of it arose because it was in Oklahoma - a poor and less resourced area. There is no way that if a man disappeared like that in say London that they wouldn't be taking DNA and forensic samples from the car, the tigers enclosure, the sewage/cess pit whatever it was. I doubt that you'd get a conviction of murder to hire on those thin grounds here. It sounded like a put up job and false entrapment when you listened to the supposed hit man and Lowe's conversations. He may have deserved the animal cruelty charges but the murder for hire seemed unjust to me- he was just full of hot air on that one.

Ah yes - I'd lumped it all together. It's the same point though. Florida is famous for unexplained missing people dumped in the swamp and eaten by gators.

@Noeuf the new husband was really creepy I thought. That bit when he sang to her. and the bit when they kissed on the lips with those furry tiger hats on.

They both creeped me out tbh - Carole and her husband.

I started watching it and fell asleep during third episode. I won't reisit, don't think it's my sort of thing but good for those who do like it. Netflix is wonderful as is Amazon Prime and the telly!

Which is the same exact path Travis was headed down,but he killed himself before "that' happened.
He was only 19 when he arrived at GW and stayed there bc he was supplied with endless amounts of meth and pot.

Watched the last one today. Not a clue what was going on. They all looked the same - shaved head and facial hair so I got really confused. Surprised Doc was defending Jo. Only realised after reading these threads that Carol had three husbands - I thought numbers 2 and 3 were the same and just flashbacks.

Felt sorry for Shaggy, got confused between Doc and Pen and Teller. No idea how Joe and his magic cock entrapped so many beautiful young men who surely could have found love in a less complicated set up

I have just watched the final one where John talks about attractive nannies and getting "Lauren" back in the gym after she gives birth. I was genuinely Shock watching it.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all.
He comes across as all fur coat (ha!) and no knickers. I don’t think Lowe has any money to even pay for a nanny. Maybe a couple hundred $$$ to pay someone to pretend for the show but I think he’s always just surviving from one scam to the next.

Me too. Seems I WANTED the tigers to eat everyone except the one person they DID try to eat who was the only one I didn't want them to eat.

It was very frustrating.

I've just watched the Louis Theroux one in iPlayer. It's like a different place. Grass, staff, clean Jo seems normal etc. Wonder whether he was hustling Louis or if something changed after 2011

I’m watching louis’ doc now. Tim Stark is a piece of shit. Those animals are terrified of him. I bet he uses a cattle prod on them. He definitely uses some sort of pain inflicting implement. They have that fearful look/behaviour when he approaches.

Joe is almost like a different person and the zoo too. They’re all wearing uniforms. Joe giving other zoo owners lessons! I can only assume the drugs took a hold and destroyed his brain in the time in between louis’ doc and the tiger king doc.
