I think you have to just accept that the social distancing is going to make it awkward and just ignore it.

CherryValanc · 14/03/2021 11:32

The pram social distancing from.the car was taking it too far mind 😄

What was the out come for the young man that got burnt. I feel like it wasn't concluded.

FoonySpucker · 14/03/2021 11:34

No sign of Jan thank goodness!

But...

Faith was really annoying. Why was she tracking Lev when he was in the bloody staff room?

How many days is Grace going to spend sitting out in the car park waiting for her mum who spoiler alert never turns up on time, if at all.

It's all gone a bit "teen photo story". Have the home-schooling kids been tasked with writing the script?

I agree with @SoupDragon that the social distancing just is what it is and can be ignored. I'd like to say that it is better than not having any episodes at all, but based on the last couple of weeks' nonsense I'm not so sure Sad

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/03/2021 11:50

I couldn't get over Connie suggesting having a get-together with David/Ollie and Faith/+EDD. Highly unlikely!

Good point. I'd forgotten that bit.

Did anyone else wonder if the excruciatingly giggly ultrasound scene was going to result in a baby being discovered?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/03/2021 12:15

I did wonder what the point was of that scene @FoonySpucker. Maybe Grace has been brought back to facilitate some change in Connie's priorities? Can't otherwise see the point?

Nith · 14/03/2021 15:54

I find Connie annoying enough without also having to deal with her daughter in the permanent cast. And surely if she's already being traumatised by flashbacks to her accident, becoming a paramedic is a staggeringly stupid idea?

spiderlight · 14/03/2021 16:00

@FoonySpucker - Yes, I was fully expecting either a surprise baby or Grace to wait until her mum had gone and then keep scanning herself to find one that she suspected was there.

I think someone said that the lad who was burned was on ITU but was expected to recover.

Optimist1 · 14/03/2021 16:12

I've never been very keen on Faith, but last night she excelled herself in her ridiculous behaviour. I can imagine in her position, suspecting Lev of fancying any male in his vicinity and tracking his whereabouts are just about understandable (if somewhat OTT), but cornering him in the paramedic staff room, ripping off her top and demanding he proves he's still attracted to her? And when he doesn't rise to the occasion (pun intended) she decides that she doesn't want to be with him? OK, but don't take yourself straight to Dylan's boat, love - that's cruel.

Nith · 14/03/2021 16:31

That was particularly ridiculous when they were in a room with glass partitions the blinds for which Faith hadn't even bothered to close.

SoupDragon · 14/03/2021 16:32

Why didn't coughing woman die? The fact that she was just Not Pregnant goes against everything Casualty stands for!

FoonySpucker · 14/03/2021 17:24

The guy got his burns because he was rescuing her (in the mistaken belief that she was pregnant). She was trapped under a very heavy table which he had to lift off of her ankle so that she could move.

Not so much as a limp for the entire episode.

HettySunshine · 14/03/2021 20:33

Also, she was his best mate's mum. Surely he would have rescued her anyway, baby or not. So the whole 'if he dies, it's your fault' was a bit daft.

And poor Dylan seems set to have his heart shattered again. I can't imagine him and Faith settling down in rebound bliss somehow.

spiderlight · 14/03/2021 22:52

Was anyone else gutted when Faith went to the boat and we didn't get to see Dervla?

SoupDragon · 15/03/2021 08:08

I did think "Dervla!" As she approached it. Maybe next week (fortnight) when we see the morning after...

Fromage · 16/03/2021 21:08

Is anyone else only watching Casualty for the fun of this thread? Grin

JimmyJabs · 16/03/2021 22:02

I've been watching it almost since the beginning, but at the moment it's more like a duty watch than something I truly look forward to.

purpleme12 · 16/03/2021 22:06

I hope it goes back to the brilliant programme it was when all this social distancing is over

CherryValanc · 17/03/2021 10:42

It should do. I think there's just so many limitations now its too restrictive.

FoonySpucker · 17/03/2021 12:29

The limitations/restrictions make it slightly odd to watch but they are no excuse for the woeful/unbelievable/never in a million years story lines.

JimmyJabs · 17/03/2021 13:18

Yes - I feel like the quality of the storylines had started to decline even before the restrictions on filming, but their implausibility has been highlighted by the fact that the characters can't react in the ways they normally would. Take the Faith/Lev situation. That scene where she took her top off in the paramedics' staff room was silly, but it could have been less so if Lev had been able to reach out to her, try to touch her, take hold of her arm to stop her leaving etc. Instead of standing 2m away and saying "But I love you!" He's managed to be married to her for however many years and father three children with her, surely he could have done better than that?

purpleme12 · 17/03/2021 13:26

And when Ethan and Fenisha were talking about moving in
Just how Fenisha was. Just seemed unnatural

bruffin · 17/03/2021 13:30

Lev's character has changed beyond all recognitition

I also think they have forgotten that Ethan isnt new to looking after babies , didnt he look after Cal's daughter a lot until they discovered Cal wasnt the father.

SoupDragon · 17/03/2021 13:55

@purpleme12

And when Ethan and Fenisha were talking about moving in Just how Fenisha was. Just seemed unnatural
I think that's because they possibly weren't actually taking to each other. Lots of scenes are shot separately for each actor and I think this makes it look unnatural no matter how good the dialogue and the actors are. Something about the clear lack of eye contact I think.
SoupDragon · 17/03/2021 13:57

I'm just gritting my teeth and ignoring it.

Strangely, I don't think Holby is suffering as much from the Covid restrictions. I wonder if it is the bigger set?
