Lola and Peter and then Jay saying they hadn't split up really made it clear that that's going to cause problems, didn't it? Could do with less underlining of likely future plots! Grin

tobee · 13/03/2020 10:02

Poor old Whit. She's not my favourite character but I was nearly sobbing out loud there! Sad

Mrsjayy · 13/03/2020 10:09

The poor girl needs a break doesn't she Sad

SoupDragon · 13/03/2020 11:03

I thought it was quite clever how they had Whitney telling her 12 year old self what to look out for etc. It reinforced how the abuse happened and how it affected her

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/03/2020 11:09

I actually thought that final cell scene with Whitney and her younger self was very impactful. A bit of a departure from usual (as with Ben and his muffled hearing).

Mrsjayy · 13/03/2020 11:18

Oh yes the scenes were fantastic the but i just thought it was really dark for half 8 at night .

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 11:18

Lola and Peter and then Jay saying they hadn't split up really made it clear that that's going to cause problems, didn't it?

I half expected Lola to yell “WE WERE ON A BREAK!” Ross from friends style. Grin

TBF he did actually tell her to forget him, which any normal person would take as the relationship being over.

Whitney talking to 12 yo self was brilliant. Very well done and I think would make some children going through similar take notice.

The80sweregreat · 13/03/2020 13:47

Lola is leading Jay on a bit. Cake and eat it springs to mind.
The Whitney/ Chantelle stories are very very grim. Whitney one was ok but anyone who didn't know her background , or what happened years ago , may be a bit confused by it as she was mumbling away. The young girl playing her did a credible job and did look a bit like her younger self.
Chantelle needs to get out soon. It's so horrible watching it all. Mitch n Karen will go mad when they find out the truth.
They will feel bad for thinking she was ok.

tobee · 13/03/2020 14:21

The scenes with Stuart and Rainie in the restaurant looked like they had a strange filter on the camera.

The pale blue colours in the Whitney prison scene, and 12 year old Whitney's pyjamas really added to the feel of it. Cold and disturbing.

Also the prison warden is very familiar but I don't know why.

EdinaMonsoon · 13/03/2020 14:24

I found both the Whitney scenes and Chantelle's scenes frighteningly real & heartbreaking. Whitney trying to protect her younger self, soothing her, telling her to ignore his claims of love. And Chantelle's fear was palpable but also the actor who plays Gray portrays a narcissistic abuser incredibly accurately. I cried a lot. I don't usually cry at EE. The scriptwriters have done a brilliant job.

The80sweregreat · 13/03/2020 14:31

Rainie looked shifty and Stu looked green (a bit like Shrek! )
I wonder if Rainie is already married or something? She really over reacted there.
It was an odd little segment; will they split up now? Two proposals this week and both were no!
Patrick's wife is back and I still don't know her name! Her and her son are both so dull.

SoupDragon · 13/03/2020 14:35

Isn't Rainie still married to Max?

SoupDragon · 13/03/2020 14:35

PAtrick's wife is Sheree.

The80sweregreat · 13/03/2020 14:53

Oh yes! Rainie married Max just to get custody of baby Abi but it's ok now as baby Abi has disappeared!
How much I forget.

SoupDragon · 13/03/2020 14:56

I'm not sure why she looked so aghast at Stuart's proposal. He knows she's married to Max surely?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/03/2020 15:02

The colour of the glass in the restaurant made Stuart look puce.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/03/2020 15:03

I suspect Suki's eldest is going to be Chantelle's saviour.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 15:27

The restaurant looks like a really miserable place to have a meal. It’s so poorly lit. It’s like they’ve shoved some tables and chairs into a church that’s been shut down.

I reckon suki husband was abusive and that’s why she wants all her kids around her before he gets released from prison, to help protect her. And this is why kheerat will spot the signs of abuse with Chantelle.

Dieu · 13/03/2020 16:06

Fuck me, last night was depressing. It was well done, although EE could never move me to tears.
Wish I had Whitney's willpower for dieting GrinWink (sorry).
Has anyone noticed that all the restaurant ever serves is burgers, with chips in baskets?!
I really feel for Chantelle - and at least her acting is getting better. I agree that Suki's eldest will be her guardian angel.
By the way, is Keegan's limpy walk a tough guy thing, or is he genuinely impaired?!

tobee · 13/03/2020 17:17

The restaurant, to me, looks like it would be freezing cold with no heating! Amazed they ever have punters! Who's actually doing the cooking these days?

The most horrible thing with Gray's violence is that he's careful to not mark her face. Talking of Keerat and her, didn't Ash see her bruises on her arms when she had her miscarriage?

tobee · 13/03/2020 17:18

True about the food Dieu I thought it was supposed to be Asian fusion?

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 17:33

Do habiba and iqra not work in the restaurant anymore? I know iqra works with Keegan so maybe not but I thought her sister still did. But I don’t think she cooks- just serves? So who is the chef? Confused

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/03/2020 18:39

It would be good if Chantelle got away from Gray without some other bloke being her saviour. And with Whitney I’d really love it if Christie was brought in to represent her.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 18:44

Agree re man savour. If she needs a saviour it could have been any of the women on the square who’ve experienced abusive men themselves. Her own mother for example!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/03/2020 20:20

I thought whitney and younger self scenes were done well

Shame karen didn’t have her key. Bout time the abuse was found out

Yes assume peter and Lola slept together

£200 on engagement ring. No wonder raine was 🙀🙀🙀🙀

Sure I haven’t seen any corona talk yet. They need to slip in a few scenes
