Just saw his Instagram story where he has come out as gay. Very well written letter. Hope he and his family are ok.

Not surprised in the slightest. There was whispering about him in the gay community in the 80s when he was still in the broom cupboard on weekday afternoons.

Dreadful for his wife and kids though.

I've known PS was gay for over 30 years. It was an open secret when I worked in the media. I'm surprised it's taken this long to come out, as it were.

I didn't see this coming and yet I am not surprised in many ways. He is speaking now on This Morning and he is very aware of the pain this causes his wife. She has clearly known for a long while.

Call me cynical but the timing of this announcement is interesting, it seemed like the tide was turning against him with rumours of his bad behaviour and his popularity waning a little...
