Did DT have puncture wounds in his arm too?
Yes, we saw them photographic it. Not sure the mum did though.

I’m enjoying it, not confused at all.

Freezer, me too! I didnt think the ex and the dead teacher looked alike, or the post mortem guy and the GP.

The dead teacher clearly doesn't like her MIL so that might play a part.

What did policeman's wife take out of the drawer? DH said they were drugs. She didnt seem surprised by them so maybe they were hers.

It was very hard watching, those 3 body bags. I hope they dont have flashbacks to the fire

Thank you all, yeah that makes sense it was the locks she was buying

Report
MrsEricBana · 10/01/2020 23:45

She wasn't surprised because they'd been smoking weed in the garden in the flashback

Report
MadeForThis · 10/01/2020 23:50

I thought she stole the locks but might not make a difference.

Also wondered why the drunk guy was so sure David tenant was responsible rather than the wife as the others suggested.

Think it's going into how interconnected their relationships are. Affairs, ex's, friends and enemies. Small village with a past. Might also tie into how similar some characters look. Interchangeable.

The policeman investigating the murder is also strange.

Did he try to rescue the kids first? I missed that bit. Surely he knew the house well enough.

How long ago was the car accident? On the daughters 5th birthday.

I agree everyone looks very similar, I thought David tenant was doing the autopsy too. Very confusing

Teacher was having an affair with DT's wife I thought. Least felt that was implied

I was confused by the pathologist and thought it was Davie T to begin with too! Was thinking surely he’d not do PM on his own family!

Love seeing Dunlop on the tv. Funny seeing the police car just sail down Main Street when there’s usually cars parked all down it and you’re reversing back and forward letting folk through before you can go Grin

Didn’t she steal the lock? I didn’t see her paying Hmm

I thought Matthew McNulty did a brilliant Scottish accent and I’m Scottish, if I didn’t know he was really English then I never would have known he wasn’t really Scottish!

Really enjoyed the first episode, looking forward to next week. Think there will be lots of twists and red herrings to come.

I agree that the characters were confusingly similar. Totally thought DT was doing the post-mortems on his own family until virtually the last scene.

Looking forward to the next episode.

It's got a small community Broadchurch vibe about it, even down to the local cop being friendly with the deceased.

Report
Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2020 08:58

The other main Broadchurch vibe is the annoyingly invasive music. Lots of complaints on Twitter about sound levels again.

Do these everyone knows everyone communities where the GP, all the teachers, and the police officers all live in the actual community actually really exist anywhere these days?

Sad
I was waiting to watch this all week. Change of plans meant I went out and I forgot to tape it.

Overall I think the acting is decent. Though much credit to the actor playing the firemen carrying out the body bag it was gut wrenchingly realistic. He's small nuances were devastating andhe gently laid her down.

I'm in Ireland and can watch the All 4 player @beanaseireann The BbC iPlayer doesn't but All 4 app works for me.

I was confused by the ages of DT's daughter's. The two youngest seemed to be in the same class at school so I thought they were twins but then they kept talking about the mum's PND after Charlotte's birth so maybe not twins after all. Iris and Charlotte were the younger ones I think, can't remember the older girl's name.

Thank you Squigean

Bunnybigears · 11/01/2020 09:50

I think Charlotte was the disabled daughter. It was a small village school so maybe mixed age classes?

Report
Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2020 10:36

I genuinely did not notice the disabled child! And I am normally really observant. It makes sense, though.

Report
Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2020 10:37

What they talked about was depression 'after Charlotte' so that makes sense if Charlotte was badly injured in the crash.

Agree that fell isn’t Scottish. And Deadwater Fell is a real place. In Northumberland.

I quite enjoyed it, and wasn’t confused at all about who was who. I was a bit squiffy on wine though, so maybe that’s the way forward for you lot.Grin

Yeah regarding the Ceilidh dance, why couldn’t DT have told the producers, etc that Scottish people don’t all do this?!

It’s like Scotland isn’t attached to England with the way they act about us sometimes, I’m surprised they weren’t all wearing kilts and eating haggis shouting ‘och aye the noo’ all over the place! Confused
