Has anyone watched this?

Agree @WhoWants2Know that mentioning something seen in the trailer isn’t a spoiler.

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 21:39

I have never seen a trailer for this. I never watch live TV, indeed this is the first thing I have seen on Channel 4 for ages.

I did not know that prisoners wore orange in the U.K. I thought that was America. Over here they used to wear grey or blue, or at least they did when I was last inside.

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 21:41

I imagine the programme has been sold to the US?

Alpacathebag · 19/01/2020 21:56

If Emily was running through the woods in her pyjamas on that night then she can’t have been dead at 9.30 ish, so either Tom is lying or Dylan saw them another night, but how did the pine needles get there if so? Tom may have seen them “dead” much later.

Werking · 19/01/2020 23:42

I think Tom’s lying about things or omitting to reveal them. Maybe he did the injections and did himself as a ruse but a lower dose. But I don’t think he meant to kill them. And I don’t think he was involved with the fire. I think the fire is someone else.

I’m not sure if it’ll go this dark, but something made me wonder about Tom & Kate being involved in a paedophile ring, or even a swinger’s group held at their house. That could be a reason why the girls were locked in, and maybe the keys were thrown away with the receipt by mistake as Kate was distracted (a stretch but you never know!)

ChicChicChicChiclana · 20/01/2020 00:08

I've just watched the trailer. It looks like an ordinary orange jumper to me.

hazandduck · 20/01/2020 00:13

Talking to a friend about this today, we both thought it so strange that Dylan the druggie kid lied...but then thought that maybe Kate was running away as well, and maybe he’s not lying and there will be an extension of that scene where Tom catches up to them both? So he isn’t lying we’ve just not been shown it all yet..:

peanutfoldover · 20/01/2020 02:40

If my extensive knowledge on the system is to be believed (and it’s based on what I’ve seen on telly so must be true) I think you wear any colour scrub/boiler suit type outfit whilst being held in a cell if your other clothes/nail clippings/pubic hair etc are being cellected and sent off for forensic testing. But ultimately, if convicted, you end up in prison wearing grey jogging bottoms (pulled down slightly so most of your pants show) and a grey jumper (this is based on Gareth Malone’s The Choir, so again is 100% fact)

peanutfoldover · 20/01/2020 02:41

@hazandduck that’s a good theory!

ChicChicChicChiclana · 20/01/2020 05:10

I agree Hazandduck. I said in a pp that we aren't shown everything and this could be one of those irritating times when the viewers are deliberately misled for intrigue or plot twist purposes.

CheekyFucker · 20/01/2020 07:49

On remand they can wear their own clothes. The 'prison uniform' only comes into play when they are convicted.

Namethecat · 20/01/2020 08:49

Prison bod here.
Yes prisoners are allowed to wear their own clothes but many choose not to because of the washing.
When you come into prison you are given pants, socks, joggers, and a top (yes mostly grey but where work a few dark burgundy ones as well )
When it is laundry day they are collected in a big heap and taken off to the laundry (in the prison )
You are sharing the clothes, they do not have names on so you just get re issued you size.
Most jails do not have the facility to wash individuals personal clothes. (Having said that some jails might have domestic washing machines on privileged wings for individual washing.
Remand prisoners are expected to hand in their personal clothes to their visitors ( once checked) and for visitors to replace.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 20/01/2020 08:53

So can anyone else watch the trailer and see if they think there is a spoiler of Tom in custody on there?

Namethecat · 20/01/2020 09:03

In my first sentence I mean remand prisoners Apologies.

CheekyFucker · 20/01/2020 09:03

Yes. Although it is hard to tell it is a prison top. This is not the jumper he was wearing in the fire, although it is almost the same shade of orange.

Steala · 20/01/2020 09:41

Dylan was lying. He said he was in a group and he could see Tom by the light of the fire. The clip showed him alone in the dark.

I suspect injection site etc might be a red herring/ inadequate knowledge within the team/ easier for dramatic effect. I don't think viewers are expected to have the level of medical knowledge displayed on this thread. Either way, I can't see someone trying to revive them, then padlocking them in the room, throwing away the keys and going for a lie down.

Steala · 20/01/2020 09:44

We have assumed that the items:receipt, keys, candles etc are from the bins or car, but wasn't there a scene of candles and other debris strewn in the woods? Perhaps the forensic scene and realisation that Kate bought the lock is much later in the timeframe, after Dylan pointed the police to the woods as part of the crime scene?

Werking · 20/01/2020 10:00

I don't think viewers are expected to have the level of medical knowledge displayed on this thread.

Grin Grin

Yes I think we have to bear in mind that some creative decisions are made for mundane or practical reasons, or for no real reason at all and due to a lack of research.

CheekyFucker · 20/01/2020 11:08

The realisation Kate bought the padlock is half way through the first episode, when the other GP is being interviewed by the Police at the station. Steve is watching the CCTV from the store at the same time.

The things in the wood cake much later - empty Nox cartridges and other rubbish. Not the same rubbish as in the bag.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 20/01/2020 12:44

I think there are a lot of red herrings being shown to through us off the currently non-existent real story line. There's too much going on.

I'm surprised we're this far in to the thread though and no-one else has commented on DT's terrible hair/beard dye job.

beanaseireann · 20/01/2020 15:26

StuckBetweenDarknessandLight
We were all too polite to mention it. Smile

Piggywaspushed · 20/01/2020 16:45

That's an orange jumper! He was wearing it a lot in Ep 2! I think they have used that in the trailer deliberately to throw us off the scent/misdirect us. I thought while watching the programme 'why is he wearing that manky jumper?'

CheekyFucker · 20/01/2020 16:57

@Piggywaspushed it isn't the jumper. It is cotton. The trailer for this coming week has the full orange outfit and he is shown in jail.

CheekyFucker · 20/01/2020 17:04

Here is a better picture of the prison jumper. Note the prison officer in the background.

I thought it was only in US prisons that orange is the new black!!!!
