True nibdedibble

Who called the emergency services? Was it just Jess?

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:16

lamalama
We are led to believe that it was his burn getting dressed I think. Does anyone remember where he did actually get burned? Does seem an odd place to burn yourself on a big fire.

Squigean · 19/01/2020 10:20

Think a counsellor has been mentioned already mentioned so not so much a spoiler.

But would prefer spoilers to be kept off this thread. There was on earlier, before Friday's episode, about seeing pictures of Tom in prison, giving away he would be arrested.

lamalama · 19/01/2020 10:23

@Breathmiller definitely odd place to be burned. Hand or outside of forearm maybe but the inside of the elbow? 🤔

longtompot · 19/01/2020 10:39

Did Steve (is it, Jess’s pc husband) know Jess and David Tennants character having sex before he went to see the other drs son? I’m going to rewatch them today, just wondered if anyone could remember.

The other thing I am unsure about is why the girls rooms, which was behind the padlocked door, was covered in plastic, with no smoke or fire damage? In the first episode I thought this was due to Charlotte already being dead, and the room being preserved by her parents.

Was the fire on the same day as the beach birthday party?

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 10:41

Kate was found on the landing, a little further along from the girls bedroom door. Fully clothed.

Both Kate and Tom were given CPR - not that either of them could have been saved with that feeble floppy arm effort. Kate looked past resuscitation - her death stare was chilling.

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 10:42

I don't think that's a spoiler (how can there be spoilers when no one ahs been able to see the programme in advance?). The counsellor has been referenced in the dialogue. I say that as someone very sensitive to spoilers. It's a bit like in Cold Feet how Adam and thingy had an extended conversation about her mum : clearing the way to her making a signposted appearance this week, I imagine.

They introduced the ex friend from out of nowhere this week who had crucial info about Tom. I have watched a lot of these things and they always do have that sudden intro of someone we have not seen or been watching much : so all eyes on new characters, the other doctor, the head, the wives of the aforesaid?

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 10:43

Steve knew about the shag before he spoke to Dillon.

The beach was some time before the fire.

EnidBlyton · 19/01/2020 10:43

seems strange that they had the three girls in one room, in such a big house

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 10:44

I think the spoilers are often in the trailers and publicity photos, which is annoying but the programme makers will only release the info they want to tease us with! You can find out details about next week's episodes in TV listings, but they'll never say whodunnit!

EnidBlyton · 19/01/2020 10:44

no the fire was after the ceilidh the beach party had been sometime before culminating in a car crash.

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 10:45

There was some visible smoke damage in the girls room, but the fire had not reached them. The wall behind the bed was streaked with grey, for example. All three girls had been in there. This was shown by the video on the bedroom.

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 10:49

Oh yes. DT said he had got her help after Charlotte - antidepressants and counselling.

Quite horrible that a Medic would practically push alcohol on someone with depression.

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:51

Could the old friend just be in there to help Jess figure out that Tom has done this before? So supporting her view of him being a controlling person.
Shows he's always been like that. Even when he talks about how great his relationship was with Kate way back. Even at the beginning of his relationship with her he was having (controlled) sex with her friends when they were vulnerable.
Again proving he's not the good guy in the relationship that he's trying to show.

Kate could be depressed and have anxiety due to being in an abusive marriage with a gaslighter.

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 10:51

He really did seem to force it on her, didn't he. It was a big glass!

ChicChicChicChiclana · 19/01/2020 10:52

I think a poster was just guessing that Kate's counsellor might appear. But I do agree that the mention of Tom in prison was quite a spoiler. Frustrating!

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:52

controlling sex not controlled

CheekyFucker · 19/01/2020 10:54

Burn was on the same place where the dressing was. Inner elbow. Very odd. I think I remember Iris (?) saying he had been poked by the fire?

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:54

Yes Piggy
And how many had she had before that? And did he either know she had been drinking all day or even have been the one who gave her that too?

JessJonesJumps · 19/01/2020 10:55

I thought the plastic in the girls' room was placed there by forensics to preserve evidence?

What I can't work out is where in the timeline was the day they were sitting outside the house drinking and smoking - was that the day Jess and DT had sex or was that just another random day?

The little boy burnt his arm on the fire at the ceilidh.

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:56

Ahhh...thanks cheeky
Maybe then it's no more a sinister plot line than to have Jess talking to him.

She is handy with injections though I suppose

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 10:57

I can't work out that timeline either. In fact, I don't know that lovely decking and kitchen was Tom and Kate's house until someone else said it was. No one ever lives in scruffy houses in these 'dark side of the middle classes' dramas!

Breathmiller · 19/01/2020 10:59

jess

Is that a 3rd day? The day that Jess came round with wine because she wasn't pregnant? They got a bit pissed together then they ended up in the garden having a smoke with Tom there.
Was he videoing it to show what a pisspot his wife is? More proof of her instability? And he's shown in a good light, talking to the kids.

EnidBlyton · 19/01/2020 11:05

hmm, perhaps Tom was filling her glass, the bottle was full, as she copes better once she has had a drink

Werking · 19/01/2020 11:06

The reference to a counsellor comes solely from a post @ktel1 made on this thread on 14/01/2020 at 23:07:

*ktel1

I don't think this is a spoiler but let me know if it is considered to be one.

I was looking at the cast on IMDB and as I said earlier there are quite a few characters yet to be introduced

One of them is a counsellor so it looks like Kate may have been seeing a counsellor and perhaps grew close to him.

The actor is Phil McKee- he was in another good Scottish drama I watched recently- Traces.*
