Has anyone watched this?

That part is quite unclear.

I think they're referring to the day of the crash.

How she was on that day, only slightly over the limit- you wouldn't have known she was intoxicated etc.

I thought the court case was something that was coming up in the future and the discussion was how that may have been playing on her mind .

Tom was playing down it's importance saying that she knew it would only be a fine.

When the detective chipped in with the 1 year ban I took that to mean that legally based on the circumstances a 1 year ban would be applied

I don't know anything about the penalties applied for DUIs but perhaps there's a scale and perhaps it wasn't her first offence.

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 15:02

The posters in question don't have anything to contribute about the drama itself. Sad really

amaryl · 18/01/2020 15:03

‘She was fine in the day... you wouldn’t have known’- refers to the actual day. They’d had a nice day, you wouldn’t have guessed there was anything wrong.
The court case is pending- the suggestion is that she was concerned about it. Tom was dismissing it as a worry.

amaryl · 18/01/2020 15:04

She wasn’t fine on the day of the crash, there were lots of witnesses to that

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 15:08

I think the only relevant information related to the crash is if anyone was hurt

and apparently no one was otherwise they definitely would have referred to it

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 15:13

He would be angry at her if she had killed the girls

He's too understanding under the circumstances

Before the funeral he says he needs to look his best for her

CheekyFucker · 18/01/2020 15:18

I agree. He was angry with her before, when she was doing nothing wrong. He was nasty. But now he is being lovely about her. Putting on a good act.

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 15:22

When he had that strange look on his face looking at the camcorder on the computer

Could he have found a video on the computer showing something that upset him?

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 15:23

or an email

Piggywaspushed · 18/01/2020 15:31

Well, how rude. I wasn't goading!

By saying obviously wasn't you are the one saying things are clear to make yourself look clever!

I don't think cheeky nor I think we are goading each other, just heard or interpreted things differently! I can see now cheekys reading of it but cba to go back and rewatch.

The fact that things aren't very clear is typical of these kinds of dramas (and may also signify not very clear writing/ acting, I guess)

CheekyFucker · 18/01/2020 15:36

@Piggywaspushed The goading comment wasn't aimed at you.

If it was simple and straight forward, it would be very dull indeed. It is a drama, so there needs to be some drama in it.

Each character will be a suspect at some point, and we will be gradually fed details.

Piggywaspushed · 18/01/2020 15:40

Oh , I know that [smile}. It was the PP who basically accused me of being unpleasant because I took a differing view from you!

Omgyouguyssss · 18/01/2020 15:46

I said obviously to emphasise the fact that you’d just made a decision that what you thought was correct and I felt the same about what I thought happened.

And I wasn’t even referring to you when saying the second part of what I said. If you’re one of the several posters giving it ‘I don’t know why you’re all so confused’ then it’s a coincidence.

nibdedibble · 18/01/2020 15:59

DT is really good at acting like a manipulative emotional abuser, isn't he?

In reality he seems like a very nice guy (I like his podcast and he seems absolutely lovely on it) but he really can turn off the charm in this series.

Dieu · 18/01/2020 16:02

Poor Kate, surrounded by friends who can't keep their pants on!
God, Jess is so bloody bland. How she managed to pull the police officer is beyond me.

Piggywaspushed · 18/01/2020 16:17

I am definitely not one of those posters. I freely admit it's all a bit vague...

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 16:35

That scene where Jess has sex with Tom is awful

He's so creepy

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 16:40

All this focus on the son's injury seems like it must mean something.

Apparently it's a burn from the fire - according to Iris he was poking the fire at the dance.

It's location -inner elbow - the constant references to injections and fire throughout.

There seems to be a lot of time spent on what would seems to be a minor injury , in this last episode showing us the wound being dressed.

Faircastle · 18/01/2020 17:51

Even though I realise most of the community suspect that Kate caused her daughters' deaths, I still find it weird that there were so few people at the crematorium.

Perhaps Tom had alienated and isolated her from all her former friends?

CheekyFucker · 18/01/2020 17:58

@Faircastle I agree. Perhaps it was meant to be family only, and most people respected that, except for the old friend who is out of the social circle.

The head teacher Simon, for example, clearly adored her, and believes she is innocent. The police were not there either which is odd as they usually go to funerals.

MissEliza · 18/01/2020 18:17

@ktel1 I agree about that scene. I actually thought up it when I woke up this morning. It made my skin crawl.

NeutralJanet · 18/01/2020 18:43

DT is really good at acting like a manipulative emotional abuser, isn't he?

There's a recent film called Bad Samaritan where he plays a creepy scumbag, its worth a watch.

ChipInTheSugar · 18/01/2020 19:30

I think the thing with the phone is that he a message comes onto the screen - his eyes are tracking like he's reading something left to right.

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 19:43

I've seen DT in quite a few other things where he was a real creep.

Secret Smile is one that springs to mind although that was made 15 years ago now.

Has anyone here seen the Politician's Husband- with him and Emily Watson?

It wasn't as good as The Politician's Wife with Juliette Lewis and Trevor Eve which was great but it's still pretty entertaining.

He plays more of an arrogant manipulative bastard in that rather than an out and out baddie.

I was just looking at his IMDB profile and he is incredibly busy as an actor .

ktel1 · 18/01/2020 19:45

ChipInTheSugar .

Yes I was thinking something similar, he was reading or watching something on the screen

He looked very concerned about it.

Perhaps he was reading an email- may have been addressed to him or he could have accessed Kate's email.
