Its possibly the injections were separate and the fire accidental. Though why they were injected I have no theory for if the fire was an accidental thing!! Unless Kate did it (because of years of emotional abuse) and wanted it to look like Tom did it. Death wasn't the intention - fire started and they all died

The fact the police man didn't know the layout of the upstairs could fit into it being an abusive household (never let upstairs- doors with padlocked etc).

One thing I do predict is annoyance on this thread at the ending!! Tends to be the way with these threads: get over invested, come up with mad theories, don't like the ending not being like any the elaborate plot created!!

I wonder what happened with Charlotte's birth and if it was the nature of the birth that caused her disability.

We don't know the issue - perhaps celebral palsy?

The GP referred to a traumatic birth then he also said her depression was normal due to hormones.

In my mind that statement was a little odd.

If it was traumatic and something happened or a mistake made that caused the disability then that could very well be the reason for Kate's depression.

That would be situational not related to hormones or PND.

Wonder if it's deliberately true to life though or just accidentally. Tramanatic birth needs more help than PND does. Post-traumatic stress is what should be dealt with (as well as the possibility of PND).

Her GP seems odd to me

Why was it that the front of the house was completely burnt through? Did it start in living room? Whereas the parents and children’s room (or the room that was locked anyway) seems to be untouched apart from smoke damage

Yes there may be something to do with the yobs - even if it’s just an avenue that gets investigated but is just a distraction.

Regarding the locked bedroom

We only see 1 bed in the when the forensics team are working inside

There may be other beds there that we don't see.

It looked like Emily had a caretaker role with her- we see her pushing her when they were returning from the dance.

I rewatched the part in the store with the padlock.

It looked that way of first because of the editing .

First she picks it out and then later when we see her put something in her bag that was when she was walking away from the register so she was presumably putting that or her purse back in her back after paying for it.

Yobs are a red herring I hope would hate to watch 4 episodes only for it to be random violence... but then I’m the fool that watched the whole first season of dr foster thinking “there must be more to this than just an affair!”

If he's going to be nasty, I think they might have made him out to be sweet and nice in this first episode, so it would be more of a surprise. They showed him hissing furiously at Kate - although I think most couples have the odd exchange like that, however rarely.

I don’t get the injections. How would someone do that? Wait till they were asleep and then stick it in their arm? If so, and not one of the family, it’s woukd have had to have been someone with a key to the house if they haven’t found signs of a break in, which I don’t think they have.

Oh, and how come no-one has home security cameras on these things??

I think that after episode 2 we will have a lot more information to go on- as it stands there are too many unanswered questions.

Method- we don't know this yet, was it the injections or the fire?
Post Mortem and toxicology results needed.

Motive- not enough information to go on. Speculation only at this stage regarding the parent's relationship, mother's state of mind, possible affair or abuse.

Opportunity- this would seem to be one of the parents based on proximity but could be an outsider. We keep coming back to the injections- who would have been able to administer these to everyone?
