I'm sure it will all become clear as the story unfolds most sensible post yet. There's only been 1 episode, it wouldn't be a 4 part drama if it all fell into place on the first one. Patience people 😀

ktel1 · 14/01/2020 17:35

ItsNovemberNotChristmas - of course but for many it's fun to speculate and try and work out what happened.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2020 18:23

I just rewatched and did notice the things people said about

I really must

  1. not mn while watching tv
  2. have subtitles on
  3. the bin emptied showed the padlock and receipt hence the cctv
  4. ivf def mentioned - been a few failed attempts

Ooh, I wonder whether a drama that requires concentration on a Friday night is scheduled to attract those doing dry January?

CassandrasCastle · 14/01/2020 20:10

I do love that we're onto 300+ posts already... Grin

A thought I just had - when DT woke at the end am I remembering correctly that he said something along the lines of "what the hell has she done"?
Not "what the hell has Kate done" 🤔

Wonder if that's thrown in for us as a little red herring - he'd be pretty disoriented waking up in the hospital after sedation!

peanutfoldover · 14/01/2020 20:58

Yes good point!

It’s the other GP’s wife. I’m going to state my case: Kate was having an affair with her GP. His wife and DT both knew. His wife in a fit of rage killed them all. I think she’s a nurse (that would fit).

There you go. After episode one, that’s what I’m putting my money on!

peanutfoldover · 14/01/2020 20:59

Being a nurse would fit with being able to access and administer drugs that is. I’m not suggesting all nurses are murderous obviously!!

Hannahlouise4026 · 14/01/2020 21:14

I’m guessing the word fell maybe refers to it being set close to campsie fells?

Werking · 14/01/2020 21:32

It's been set up so far to suggest that if Kate was having an affair with anyone, it’s Simon the hearts her. Who btw has a gorgeous wife who looks like Kate. I don’t think that necessarily means that they were having an affair; I like a PP’s suggestion that they’d been an item when younger and so had a connection.

Good spot on the “what’s she done” @FlamingOranges I think he probably did mean Kate but it’s got me wondering about his mother, Carol, who Kate has called (or someone using Kate’s phone ...)

Btw the pine needles were only found in one girl’s feet - Iris I think but could have been Emily.

I think the reason that the padlock wasn't discussed at the later gathering is because of the policeman. He was very quick to tell off the GP for bringing up Kate's antidepressants, and he refused to tell even Jess if Kate was under suspicion.

Werking · 14/01/2020 22:30

flouncy yes def could be that, the pine needles transferred from her feel to her pyjamas.

I think Charlotte is key here. I watched it again the other day and noticed how little she was properly in shot in a lot of it. You didn’t see her wheelchair until after the flashback scenes of her at the beach on crutches. Seems deliberate.

Mind you, I will be most miffed if all this back and forth and carefully measuring out bits of information is just for wanky ‘art‘’s sake and doesn’t properly hold together.

ktel1 · 14/01/2020 23:07

I don't think this is a spoiler but let me know if it is considered to be one.

I was looking at the cast on IMDB and as I said earlier there are quite a few characters yet to be introduced

One of them is a counsellor so it looks like Kate may have been seeing a counsellor and perhaps grew close to him.

The actor is Phil McKee- he was in another good Scottish drama I watched recently- Traces.

ktel1 · 14/01/2020 23:10

flouncyfanny- lol

I applaud your dedication.

I have definitely become too invested in this for whatever reason.

I'm now tempering my expectations so that I don't get too disappointed in the eventual reveal.

So many times dramas fail to deliver on what they promise at the start and often posters come up with more interesting plots

TurningLeaves · 14/01/2020 23:16

Why was there plastic in the bedroom? Was it covered up before the fire as though the room is unused or preserved in a shrine like manner? Or is it something the fire investigators do as a way of preserving evidence?

Werking · 14/01/2020 23:32

I suspect that seeing the counsellor was what she did on “Weigh In” night.

I wonder if this going to be Big Little Lies-esque and Kate was having counselling to come to terms with the fact that Tom was emotionally abusing her, and was preparing to leave him. That would explain the pretence of going to Weight Watchers. After all the whole village seems to know she had depression so you wouldn’t think seeing a counsellor would need to be hidden.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2020 23:36

Yes the gin might have hindered as well @flouncyfanny 🍸🍸

Bowerbird5 · 14/01/2020 23:46

A friend of mine saw David Tennant in the Lakes. We were confused too as the title says Fell so after her seeing him and they were still filming I thought it was set in the Lakes but after googling discover it is Scotland and not a bit I know well. Seemed a bit silly to call it Deadwater Fell when mountains in Scotland are Munros and Bens!

TurningLeaves · 15/01/2020 00:03

I thought Tom was a bit creepy when they were at the beach. He quietly told her to go and take the kids, in quite a reasonable manner, then got all shouty when she did just that. Like he was poking her quietly for a reaction then making out she was being unreasonable.

ktel1 · 15/01/2020 00:08

The way he just handed her a glass of wine to calm her down was quite odd.

Especially since he knew she was taking anti depressants or at least I think he knew.

According to her GP she's been depressed for 5 years following the birth and on ADs for a while- only recently reduced the dose.

Definitely not recommended to be drinking a lot at the same time.

ktel1 · 15/01/2020 04:37

Perhaps the injections and fire were 2 separate incidents.

The injections were administered by unknown person for unknown reason but were sedatives only and no one would have died.

Then later while they were all asleep someone else lit the fire which proved to be fatal.

EnidBlyton · 15/01/2020 06:51

Plan to watch it soon, good write up in the Guardian.
