Anyone watching?

The two youngsters had a maturity beyond their years.

The Latin dancers were a bit out of sync. Why didn’t the young lad start with the rest?

Didn’t see the first duo - cooking food.

I agree, getting a bit samey, in that we are ending up with he same old 'usual suspects' as we had last year.

Redonion123 · 25/01/2020 19:34

So the auditions are over.

Who do,you think will win the series?

Redonion123 · 25/01/2020 19:38

For me, the winners will be either Harrison, or Brothers of Dance.

herecomesthsun · 25/01/2020 19:38

The one that stuck in my mind was the clown.

Redonion123 · 25/01/2020 19:40

That’s Harrison,

Figgygal · 25/01/2020 20:12

Those renako lads should have got through
They were amazing

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 25/01/2020 20:18

Three surprises for me. Ryan, I don’t get him. And I was surprised nobody picked Jordon the tapper. I had also forgotten the Duo boys that Mathew picked.
I loved Dark Angels tonight. Delighted Oti choose them. I also love Vale and the ballroom couple, so a very strong team Oti.
Harrison is fabulous, He should do well.
Brothers of dance all fabulous dancers, delighted to see them get through. Was also delighted to see Queens get through.
And I do love the Wizard of Oz kids.

Who will win?? I’m going to say Dark Angels. With other finalists likely to be Wizard of Oz kids, Brotherhood of dance and Harrison. I could also see Vale in the final. I think these should all handle any theme thrown at them and continuously bring the wow factor that will have people vote for them.

I wonder if they will keep where they have dance captain dance with their dancers in the final? I hope not, it limits the dancers if the dance captain is not strong in that dance style. Think Cheryl last year.

MidsomerBurgers · 25/01/2020 20:45

I want Harrison to win. So far anyway.

jay55 · 25/01/2020 21:23

Not such a strong week, I think Otie had the least good options to choose from, no standout storytellers.

NancyDrewCrew · 26/01/2020 06:24

Brothers of Dance, Harrison or Ainsley to win it whichever get to the finals as they for me had the strongest auditions and the audition piece is repeated in the final
If they end up the final three then 1st Ainsley 2nd Harrison and 3rd Brothers of Dance

Todrick - Dancepoint (somewhere over the rainbow) contemporary
Ryan (look what you made me do) commercial
Ainsley (shine on you) contemporary
Cheryl - Brothers of Dance (wicked game) contemporary
The queens (does your mother know) jazz
Lily and Joseph (rise up) contemporary
Matthew - Ross and Travis (Jump/wanna dance with sby) street
Harrison (game of survival) contemporary
Hannah (here with me) contemporary
Oti - Vale (bird box number) contemporary
Michael and Jowita (lollipop, rockroundclock) latin
Dark Angels (street crew)

I think the queens will be out early as well as Michael and Jowita and Dancepoint.

TreeTopTim · 26/01/2020 06:43

Why do they only allow 12 people through to the final, it just doesn't seem enough. So many good dancers went home yesterday.

NancyDrewCrew · 26/01/2020 07:01

TGD youtube views so far

Dancepoint ? (nan vote)
Ryan ? (lgbtqiapk vote)
Ainsley 165k (Todrickstans)
BoD 294k (I still hate the red jumper)
The queens 330k (what do I know? And will the 'gran' appear again?)
L+J 2.4 million (babywarz?)
R+T 19k? (cute boy teen vote)
Harrison 1.2 million (scary clown)
Hannah 186k (ooh a ball)
Vale 2.3 million (Bird box was a big meme)
M+J 229k (she was cute, he'd be better not talking)
Dark angels 41k already (i-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t shit hustling)

Have to say scary clown on Strictly Glitterball in full IT garb would crack me up. never gonna get it

Final 12.
NancyDrewCrew · 26/01/2020 07:21

So if some of the above from dance schools etc have their own choreographers do they get to choreograph each week? Are the mentors involved beyond seeing the routines in practise? If they themselves do choreo can they choreo their own?

Just watched all 12 again. Dancepoint were better than I remembered.
Harrison should do a Pluto from Us routine, he does the fast crawl ridiculously well
Ross and Travis made me smile (and Matthew's response)
Michael and Jowita would fit seamlessly into Strictly
Ainsley still moves me
And Ryan? I am not even sure I am ready for Ryan but living for Todrick's reaction

(I am suffering from insomnia rather than overinvested. I watch on iplayer but use fast forward. Curtis's face annoys me)

Ellmau · 26/01/2020 09:09

I doubt Harrison will be a clown every week. Not sure he will stand out without that gimmick?

Redonion123 · 26/01/2020 10:10

Providing he tells a story every week, he’ll do well. Some of the other contemporary dancers did a lot of dancing, but there was no Meaning to their dance. Not sure if I have explained that well.

Thinking of Strictly, Oti’s dances are always good because they are choreographed well, so even if she had a poorer dancer, the overall performance would be good. Other pro’s were less talented at doing this.

TechnicalSergeantGarp · 26/01/2020 15:28

Jelli and Harrison are from Jennifer Ellis's studios (I think). She does some great themes so I think Harrison will be different every week.

I like Harrison, Brothers of Dance, Dark Angels, Vale and the gymnast with the ball.

I love seeing the a group of dancers perfectly syncronised. Other than Harrison, I rather a group than a solo dance won.

I didn't know there was a £50K prize to the dance studio. On insta last year Jennifer Ellison talked about choreography. I think the dance studio team choreograph with input from their judge.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/01/2020 16:09

Harrison has an impressive Dance track record!

This is from his bio which may be 1 or 2 years old.
He is a English Modern Champion, 4 Times World Champion, All England X2 Winner, He is Merseyside, Cheshire, Hartlepool and Montgomery Yorkshire TDCI Champion in Ballet, Modern and Song & Dance, Janet Cram Special Award Winner, Move it FreeStyle Stage Winner, and he has performed on Move It Main Stage Twice.

In addition, he has played 2 roles in Matilda at West End, appeared in Peaky Blunders s1 & s2, along with other TV work.

I expect very interesting things from him!

Add to that Jelli will bring learning from Harry & Eliyah’s experience last year. (As will Dane Bates for Brothers of Dance)

LittleAndOften · 26/01/2020 17:16

Just caught up on Iplayer. Harrison was a finalist in The Next Step On CBBC and he was amazing. I think he's astonishing and may well win. I was gutted that all-male contemporary group of 5 didn't get through. My personal favourites are The Queens I just loved their quirky style and want to join!
I think individuals do better in these contests as they can get their personality across more effectively than a group. Ultimately its all about popularity when there's an audience or public vote!

Oblomov20 · 26/01/2020 20:48

1st of all, the 4th day of auditions was the poorest. So Oti was left to choose last and had the poorest choice.

Well. But then, I got a few of the choices wrong. Eg I couldn't believe Oti chose the couple.

And there were a couple of other choices that I said 'no way' !!

cordelia16 · 26/01/2020 21:13

I'm not really thrilled with any of Todrick's acts tbh. And I don't see how Oti is going to manage two large groups. I actually think that each dance captain should have a solo act, a pair, and a group. Seems like that would be fairer ... and more interesting to watch.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/01/2020 21:38

Oti might have less to choose from, but I think Dark Angels could do very well. Their precision in unison was unmatched by any other team.
Ballroom is a style I know nothing about. But I presume Oti must see great potential in them.

LittleAndOften · 27/01/2020 12:50

@cordelia16 totally agree about managing the types of act better. I also think there are too many contempo/acrobatic acts and not enough diversity of styles.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 27/01/2020 14:01

Indeed there could be more diversity.

7 contemporary acts!

I included Dancepoint and Hannah here.
1 commercial (Ryan??)
1 Jazz
2 Hip Hop
1 Ballroom

Oblomov20 · 27/01/2020 17:00

But joe public doesn't want diversity (and no I don't mean Banjo group of dancers) of styles.

Remember when Matthew suggested/considered taking the lovely gentleman of a man - "yeah but tap dancing is really unappreciated" - ie the public don't appreciate the skill, it's not mainstream drivel with jumps and tricks = I won't win the completion!!

Oblomov20 · 27/01/2020 18:44

My favourite bit - was the Banjo first teacher, all in yellow act, with the short trouser leg, when he did the extended head spin at the end!
