Is Val not 'too old' to marry a young doctor?
I'm not going to let facts get in the way of my predictions!!
......
I don't see how, they'd both be mid to late twenties.

BeyondReasonablyDoubtsLots · 28/01/2020 17:09

Come to think of it - that pigeon was tidy looking and had an especially teal head...

Winterfishing · 28/01/2020 17:50

Not just a sex dungeon, a teal sex dungeon.*

Stop it, I've already had one post deleted! Stop
tempting me into naughtiness.

JustDanceAddict · 28/01/2020 17:55

I knew it was bird fanciers’ lung - have seen to many medical dramas!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 28/01/2020 18:04

I think the Turners kids are weirdly well behaved, especially the little girls who conveniently always get on, never fall out, are always playing nicely etc 🙄 I keep forgetting they have another baby as well!!

StarspaXxX · 28/01/2020 19:36

Also, I thought Shelagh told Doc to eat his supper 'before it gets cold'... passive aggressive, much?

Mrsjayy · 28/01/2020 19:58

She might snap over pledge the stairs and Dr T might have a terrible accident 😂

Squigean · 28/01/2020 20:32

Weren't they student doctors? So early 20s.Val's about late 20s I'd say. Ancient!!

(Though to be honest, I'm not too sure of the average of a woman at married at in the 60s. 25ish? So not she's not really accident!!)

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2020 20:52

@squigean DM was 26 when she got married in 1969. This was considered to be very old indeed. When she was 24 her mother, my DGM, asked her if there was something wrong with her (I suspect she was asking if she was gay).

Mrsjayy · 28/01/2020 21:02

I think they were qualified but doing community training

AppleKatie · 28/01/2020 22:07

Junior doctors I think they said, so yes mid 20s is probably accurate. There was definitely flirting so I don’t think in the fictional reality of CTM these days a romance would be off the cards.

Squigean · 28/01/2020 22:55

They'll be a similar age then. So I feel justified in my predictions.

Though I might swap to Dr Turner having his accident in the real sex dungeon. Shelagh will push him off the sex swing in her fit of rage.

Bluerussian · 28/01/2020 23:00

Squijean, they were qualified doctors looking to specialise, they often do courses and placements on the way.

Squigean · 28/01/2020 23:05

Well now we've sussed the ages, you watch my predicted story unfold

Bluerussian · 29/01/2020 05:28

I can't wait!

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 29/01/2020 06:33

Would Val would have to stop working - my mum had to give up her teacher training as it wasn’t the done thing for her to carry on.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/01/2020 06:48

I can't recall that Barbara stopped working but there again I think she died not long after she got married?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/01/2020 07:04

Shelagh works. Chummy worked. Barbara did.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 29/01/2020 07:07

Of course. Brain freeze this morning

MrsSlocombesPussy · 29/01/2020 07:09

Chummy carried on working after marrying and having a baby.
There was a time when women were forced to give up certain professions after marrying, I think, although I don't know if that applied to nursing, or if it still happened in the mid 60s.

SoupDragon · 29/01/2020 07:11

My mum married in 1960 but didn't "have" to give up work until she had her first child in 62. I say "have" but I don't know if she was made to, wanted to or just through social convention.

Squigean · 29/01/2020 07:47

Wasn't it for public service jobs?

PerpetualStudent · 29/01/2020 08:28

But wasn’t Val a nurse or definitely did something official during the war? Even if she was only 18 right at the end of the war in 1945 she would be minimum 38 in the current series set in 1965?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/01/2020 08:35

She was a peacetime Army nurse

PerpetualStudent · 29/01/2020 08:37

Ahh, makes sense now!
