Definitely a tear jerker this week. Poor little Warren.

I guess Teddy isn't in it much as he's only little - if he isn't twins there will be a limit to how often they can use him (obviously there is still a limit if he is played by twins).

I think New Doc is a wrong un. Did they really just hand over pethidine for period pain back then??

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 10/02/2020 07:27

What's up with Baby Dr Turner with his drugging of nuns and sighing out of the window?

BikeRunSki · 10/02/2020 07:29

I had pethidine in labour in 2011, it was amazing!

Winterfishing · 10/02/2020 08:05

Next week: new doctor and naughty nun go on a drug fuelled rampage. No hot trifle is safe.

My nan used to smoke sobrani- tried to get a pack for her funeral last year but they were very hard to find

MyBootsAreMuddy · 10/02/2020 08:55

I got the vibe that new doctor was feeling lonely when he looked out if the window. The midwives, hang out together, chat and have a laugh. Poor new Doc has nobody.

Mrsjayy · 10/02/2020 09:35

Last nights was really good a proper weepy sobbed Sister Mj garden was lovely it was a bit series finale though. I didn't know you could get pethedene in pill form it must be a controlled drug these days yet Dr Mcnulty was throwing them about like sweets,

ShiveringCoyote · 10/02/2020 10:15

Showing my age now but seeing as it was August the trifle could have been in an attic room which in big old houses would be like a fridge. It was the norm in my childhood. The teatowel would have been cold as well and kept the trifle cool during transporting.

ssd · 10/02/2020 10:19

I missed the trifle bit but the end bit with all the babies lying down in the garden was lovely.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/02/2020 10:23

it was a bit series finale though I thought that but then the trailer for next week came on.

Mrsjayy · 10/02/2020 10:29

We were surprised by next weeks trailer really thought it was finished.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/02/2020 10:31

Poor new Doc has nobody

Is he going to be a love interest for Trixie?

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/02/2020 11:02

Is he going to be a love interest for Trixie?
I can't see them together, he hasn't got a sports car and doesn't even pretend to be posh, he probably wants to work in poor areas like Poplar. I know she was engaged to the vicar but only wanted to be a vicar's wife if she could go to a parish in a naice village and she has ramped up the glam considerably since then.

Mrsjayy · 10/02/2020 11:08

Surely he is earmarked for Val?

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/02/2020 11:20

They would be a much better match.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/02/2020 11:22

Yes true - I'm just struggling to see the point of trixie, she's so badly written and was wondering if she'd get another decent storyline since it's been ages since the alcoholism.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/02/2020 11:41

I didn't click that Warrens mum was the same one that Valerie had had an argument with and don't remember the kids getting German measles.

What's with the colour photos? Colour film was so very expensive in the 60's.

Mrsjayy · 10/02/2020 11:50

Ive seen coloured family photos from the 60s I think they were developed for special occasions Lucille gave them the film didn't she?

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/02/2020 11:53

I have colour photos taken in the 60s. My parents were a bit better off than Warren's parents but I can understand why they would splash out for a one off like that.

The children with German Measles were commented on in this thread as the advice given was to go home and watch television for a few days (even though there was nothing to watch in the daytime then).

Nottobesniffedat · 10/02/2020 12:03

To be fair from May's point of view there was an emotional strange woman in her face shouting at her in a language she doesn't understand. The adoption supervisor should have staged the meeting better.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/02/2020 12:12

Hasnt May been with the Turners for about 18months. Not seen her Mother for a long time before that. About 5 years old. Would a five year old really remember her Hong Kong life in any detail? I know my 6yo DD has no memories of living in the UK prior to last summer, we left when she 2.5.

Mrsjayy · 10/02/2020 12:23

NoI don't think May would remember much and she was also in an orphanage before being brought to London so likely too young to recollect anything.

SoupDragon · 10/02/2020 12:25

I think they did make valid points about May's mother and what would happen when her employers discover she has a child and what the consequences of that would be for May.

Very difficult situation.
