I think CTM has put my ddsoff having babies I still remember Dds face when a womb fell out was early series it was a bit graphic 😁

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/01/2020 16:01

My grandson wS 5 or 6 watching a Christmas special, one of the earlier ones. After a particularly difficult birth he said 'Well I'm never going to do that!'. We assured him he would never have to. Grin

Mrsjayy · 13/01/2020 16:14

HA bless him Grin

SoupDragon · 13/01/2020 16:58

I got the ectopic.

From the pain in the shoulder? 😂

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/01/2020 17:49

Shoulder pain can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 13/01/2020 18:09

Soup yes. Not that this programme is predictable or anything... Grin

SoupDragon · 13/01/2020 18:11

Shoulder pain can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy.

I know. That's the point.

I'm virtually a lead consultant due to my training on Casualty, Holby City and Call the Midwife.

Mrsjayy · 13/01/2020 18:15

I thought it was her gall bladder i would be rubbish in Holby

SoupDragon · 13/01/2020 18:20

You need to watch more crap medical dramas. I'm hoping for a qualification in fake forensic investigation after this season of Silent Witness.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/01/2020 18:45

I thought the 😂 was because the idea of shoulder pain being a symptom was laughable.

Squigean · 13/01/2020 21:14

I've just watched and got ectopic immediately too. Though I'm not too up on the far reaching effect of gonorrhea and didn't know it could cause joint pain, so I looked it up. Not going lie, I wish I hadn't.

Is anyone else finding this series really boring so far (including the Christmas episode)? Or is it just me? I normally love it. 😔

WineOrGinOrBoth · 14/01/2020 08:04

A bit dull. Love Fred & Violet but little dull.

FredaFrogspawn · 14/01/2020 08:53

It does seem to have lost its sparkle a bit. The different stories are not as well woven into a satisfying whole programme.

I wonder if they just need some new ideas, though they have covered just about every birth issue possible by now!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/01/2020 09:06

I think it's become a bit 'write an episode by conditions' now.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/01/2020 09:08

I suppose there needs to be more diseases/conditions/social problems now as the birth rate had dropped by this time due to the pill and there are fewer people left in the slum housing.

FredaFrogspawn · 14/01/2020 09:09

And more people giving birth in hospital by now too.

FredaFrogspawn · 14/01/2020 09:10

Maybe they should focus on the district nursing aspect more - lots of potential for fresh material there.

Squigean · 14/01/2020 09:22

I'm still liking it; but feel it's definitely drifted too much away from the midwives and the women of Poplar and far to much into marvellous doctor territory.

Clawdy · 14/01/2020 11:12

Think we were more involved in the midwives' lives before too, I don't feel as if I really know them now.

Mrsjayy · 14/01/2020 12:02

The midwives at the moment dont seem to have lives outside their work but they must do maybe it would take up Dr turner s reen time if they had outside stories Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/01/2020 12:05

I agree that the midwives lives seem to be very much on 'pause' which doesn't really fit in with the era they're now in.

NumbersStation · 14/01/2020 12:26

I love Call the Midwife.

Only now, as others have said, it is very much Call Dr Turner.

And I don’t love that.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 14/01/2020 13:58

Unfortunately Dr rubbish turner won’t be going anywhere

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/01/2020 14:52

I could do with seeing less of Dr Gurning Turner and his simpering wife. But I think we are stuck with them.
