Christmas Day...

Merry Christmas Corrie Fans...
And those who watch through habit.

Rita's in the floor, Derek's in a bind, Gemma's had babies and is going out her mind.
Nick is grimacing nicely, and Sarah's forgot the plot.
And we're all just gathering around and hoping Dev gets shot.

Not sure they will go for a DV storyline at the moment, as they are still doing the Geoff - Yasmeen coercive control thing. I'm hoping Maria is beginning to see the other side of him, and will ditch him.

I feel sorry for Liam. Maria seems to have shacked up with a whole range of dubious blokes in his short life.

Report
qazxc · 28/12/2019 09:18

Liam is also totally ignored by family members, such as aunty Michelle.

Oh yes good point clawdy. Interesting that we didn’t see Geoff and Yasmeen over Christmas as statistically Christmas sees an increase in DV incidents due to drink and stresses/longer time spent together. I know Yasmeen is Muslim but Geoff isn’t so would have been celebrating.

I often watch Corrie with headphones on thanks to noisy neighbours, thin walls, kid trying to sleep etc. It's surprising how much ambient noise they add to Corrie. There's usually traffic noise and voices in the street etc etc. Can't always hear it through TV speakers

But the traffic noise for the bistro makes no sense given the location.

Someone at Corrie must be a Nick Drake fan, my ears pricked up at Day Is Done at the end with Michelle leaving. He was a beautiful talented singer and songwriter in the very late 60s early 70 and we had his song Northern Sky played at our wedding.

I agree Traceybeaker the Rovers is always empty and is totally lifeless, particularly when like you say compare it to the Queen Vic or the Rovers in classic Corrie. Years ago you would see main characters in the background even if they were not involved in a storyline, not now though, Corrie can’t even be bothered to higher extras, party scenes are excruciating! the Queen Vic has extras that have been there for years who are recognisable to the viewer, it adds to the realism.

Didn't take long for Michelle to go from Schemer back to Victim, did it? Her default role is self pity and always looks so weepy.
Please don't bring her back!

Did Michelle go to Ireland to be with Vicky or her parents?

Report
Susiesoap7 · 29/12/2019 10:29

''Twas absolutely rubbish!
Where do they keep Gemma's four babies, are they in a cupboard! Where is chesney?

Report
eggandonion · 29/12/2019 13:21

Isn't chesney busy making kebabs, is there a chip shop too or do yo get chips from the kebab place? Is Cathy still working in the kebab shop? Or just ches?
Michelle is in Ireland with both family and Vicky. Ireland is tiny, and very far away to Coronation street writers. As are Scotland, Wales, Liverpool and Birmingham. Does Michelle have any Irish cousins, half siblings, etc?

I thought Michelle was Irish.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 29/12/2019 17:43

She is.

eggandonion · 29/12/2019 18:56

I think her parents brought the kids up in England, Manchester if not weathefield, but retired to Ireland. My nice next door neighbours brought their kids up in Middlesex, and retired to Ireland.

She’s technically British and Irish if she wants to claim both nationalities. Her parents are Irish but moved to Manchester, along with Johnny and his wife, after they married and had Michele and her brothers. So whilst born in England she is Irish too.

Report
CoolCarrie · 29/12/2019 21:29

Why doesn’t Johnny have an irish accent if he was born there, and brought up there, casting is wrong there

Report
WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 29/12/2019 21:41

Because he’s lived in Manchester for the guts of 45-50 years I suppose. My uncle has lived in Canada since his early 20’s. He’s in his mid 60’s now and you only ever get a hint of his NI accent when he’s home and around all his brothers and sisters.

Perhaps the background noise in the Bistro is the noise of trams passing overhead? They are meant to be just a few doors down from the tram stop.

It's just so ridiculous at the moment. Why is stupid slow sehhhraaah running the factory. She doesn't have a single gcse, only ever worked in the rovers and now they're trying to make her into a hot shot business woman. Carla she ain't. I read somewhere that she's having to wear double platforms to even be in shot because she's tiny. So many characters with a 360 character change - Peter, Carla, that awful pharmacist working in the cafe, gary, yasmeen, Rita (acting lovely when she's surrounded by friends) , and trying to make tyrones Nan into Blanche. It's ridiculous and no one cares about any of them. And don't get me started on awful gemma, her awful brother and mum. I stopped watching earlier this year because it was all about this awful family and I can see gemma is still getting the most screen time. Awful awful show. So sad when you think back to the amazing stories we used to have based on simple family life.

As for the acting skills of fizz, Amy, chelle, Nick and Maria.....

Pharmacist? Have I missed something? Confused

Pharmacist? She was a nurse wasn't she?
Gave it up for the glamour of working in Roy's..

@ChilliMayo

No, its definitely not trams. you can tell when one of them is supposed to be going past.

This is definitely M6 noise!

I thought yer wan was supposed to be working nursing shifts and the odd shift in Roys, because of some financial issue. Half the time I wonder if I imagine back stories, and I can't follow criminal plots. I can't access the classic series, it would be great to watch while ironing.

The new family Mum is a nurse, she's working in the cafe as she left her last job when they moved and she hasn't been able to get another one yet (although I don't know why as Wetherfield General always has at least one street resident in it!)

As for Sarah, she has experience of the industry after running her brother Stephens fashion empire in Italy.
