OP posts:

I’m sure Kate complains plenty in private though especially if the rumours about William are true

She wouldn't be human if she didn't but she gets it right in public.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/10/2019 10:34

That’s my point Mrs The complaints are made in private not in the public arena. Have the royals learnt nothing after Charles & Diana’s interviews?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 22/10/2019 10:55

Both my birth parents died when I was a child and I found the period of time around getting married and having my first DC was an emotional rollercoaster. I have a lot of sympathy for Harry as a result.

As a child you can only grieve as a child with childish emotions. As you get older you revisit and reprocess your grief as emotions mature. I found having my own child was really quite triggering, but ultimately it forced me to deal with emotions and feelings I was denying.

I hope Harry is accessing the support he needs and I hope he comes out the other side.

It is perhaps worth considering that William might have experienced similar emotional upheaval around the birth of his first child, but is several years on and I'm wondering if he is now impatient with Harry, not realising that H is having to deal with this stuff according to his own timescale. (Projection much Smile)

Having said that, I hope Harry never forgets that he, Meghan and Archie nonetheless are amongst the wealthiest and most privileged families in the world.

I can't help but notice how quick posters are to excuse William using the press to deliver a message, while vilifying Harry for doing the same. Why is that?

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 22/10/2019 11:22

WineOrGinOrBoth I was agreeing with youSmile

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 22/10/2019 11:26

I can't help but notice how quick posters are to excuse William using the press to deliver a message, while vilifying Harry for doing the same. Why is that?

Perhaps because Wills isn't seen complaining how hard it is dealing with the press while talking to them. He can't have it both ways.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/10/2019 11:28

Blush Mrs I’m a bit dense this morning

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 22/10/2019 11:32

WineOrGinOrBoth it easily gets lost in translationGrin

FenellaMaxwell · 22/10/2019 11:40

Yeah, god forbid she be equal in the marriage. Why doesn't she know her place? She’s not an equal though. Not when on public duty, anyway. He’s the royal and she is his spouse.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 11:42

“Perhaps because Wills isn't seen complaining how hard it is dealing with the press while talking to them. “
He can preach about the environment while taking private jets and having 3 children though....

SenecaFalls · 22/10/2019 11:52

What she actually said was not many people have asked if I am ok

I think this is an experience that many new mothers have. Some of the commentary in the US has heightened this aspect, that often new mothers don't get the care, including self-care, that they need in the first months after birth, especially for a first-time experience.

And I agree about the comments Camilla & Fergie had to put up with was a lot worse.

They didn't have to contend with racism. And many of the negative comments, especially in response to media coverage, have been fueled by racist and xenophobic attitudes, even if not expressed outright. The vehemence, often excessive in relation to the matter being expressed, is often the first clue, with coded language closely following.

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 11:56

She’s not an equal though. Not when on public duty, anyway. He’s the royal and she is his spouse.

If he's not bothered, why are you?Hmm

Encyclo · 22/10/2019 11:57

There's no parity as far as I can see. William and Kate jet off to an eyewateringly expensive summer holiday in Mustique. No biggie, they're rich they're Royal, it doesn't register with the public.

The Sussexes go on holiday and they're lambasted.

Every element of the Sussex holiday is picked apart. The Cambridge's could have flown private too, we don't know because they're simply not scrutinised in the same way.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 11:59

The use that she considers herself Harry’s equal is o e of the things the GBP don’t like about her. We love a bit of forelock tugging to the toffs......

Encyclo · 22/10/2019 12:04

amp.theguardian.com/environment/2019/jan/22/david-attenborough-and-prince-william-take-world-leaders-to-task-on-environment

Before anyone tells me William isn't a hypocrite and doesn't preach about the environment

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 12:05

Its jealousy.

Nobody wants to be in Kate's shoes, but Harry is the one who should be able to have the perks of royalty without the downsides, and he is cute compared to William. So who will get him? Probably some impossibly posh English rose, so none of us peasants ever really stands a chance. Then this mixed race American actress swans in and takes him. Cue everybody getting angry. Bloody foreigner coming in stealing our man. Let's turn on him now for all the things he and the RF have always done, but we're only now looking at because we're obsessed with Meghan because we want to be her.

Legomadx2 · 22/10/2019 12:14

@BertrandRussell I do wonder what sort of friends you have, the sweeping and vicious remarks you so often make about the British public!

Do we HONESTLY love a bit of forelock tugging to the toffs? Or does it just suit your pro-Meghan agenda to say such claptrap?

mrscampbellblackagain · 22/10/2019 12:15

Do people really find Harry cute? This is the most shocking thing on this thread Wink

MissEliza · 22/10/2019 12:24

@Ali1cedowntherabbithole that's a good point. I'm sorry you had to go through that as a child. I think Harry is clearly struggling with not having his mum around. It's very sad to see.

nmc99 · 22/10/2019 12:29

What I'm struggling with is the fact that Megan came across to me in that doc as portraying herself as a doe eyed innocent, who is being picked on by the big bad British press. I'm sorry but she is a divorced actress, she has presumably faced the challenges of being a newlywed before and also presumably seen the worst of what Hollywood has to offer. From what I've seen the American tabloids can also be brutal. I'm not sure what to make of any of it, Harry certainly I've never seen looking more miserable and it is a real shame, if true the breakdown of his relationship with his brother and his wife which seemed warm and friendly.

I also don't think she has faced anything worse than camilla, Ferguson or any of them really.

derxa · 22/10/2019 12:30

but we're only now looking at because we're obsessed with Meghan because we want to be her I really wouldn't want that. I'm quite happy with my lovely overweight DH.
Being part of the RF sounds like my idea of utter hell. I think having servants in the house would be awful for a start. You could never relax. Meghan can never just pop out to a mother and baby group, go for a walk, go to the shops etc. And that's just for starters.
Her British friends warned her and she didn't listen. Diana and Fergie knew the Royal Family from childhood and even they were crushed by the system.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 12:31

“ Do we HONESTLY love a bit of forelock tugging to the toffs?”

Yep. That’s why Boris Johnson’s Prime Minister! Grin

Legomadx2 · 22/10/2019 12:34

@BertrandRussell he wasn't elected, as you know perfectly well.

Come on, you can do better than that!

SenecaFalls · 22/10/2019 12:38

Do we HONESTLY love a bit of forelock tugging to the toffs?

I think some of you do (not "we" because I'm American) otherwise why the objection to Meghan walking in front of her husband because he is royal and she is the spouse.

Encyclo · 22/10/2019 12:53

Hard to argue that logic
