MrsPellegrinoPetrichor

"The accents are ruining it for me" I can't understand why this is an issue.

"I don't get the connection between Imelda Staunton's situation and the missing girl's family."

Imelda Staunton is playing the mum of a girl who is missing. That's the connection.

eccentricalice · 10/09/2019 19:36

Even if you don't know the case I think it's fairly obvious what the connection between the two girls could be!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2019 20:56

I just have visions of policemen Martin shagging naked in love actually

And cab driver was Mathew in ee - think he covered windows in foil to block voices

Anyway still enjoying - if that’s the right thing to say about a true love story

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 10/09/2019 21:00

Thanks Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2019 21:08

HER druggie daughter is missing or maybe dead

PancakeAndKeith · 10/09/2019 22:24

Imelda Staunton is playing the mum of a girl who is missing. That's the connection.

But the connection isn’t obvious. The two stories don’t seem to cross. One girl missing years before who is reportedly still alive. Another girl who is possibly kidnapped.

I did see that They Walk Among Us had a two part special but I didn’t want to listen as I don’t know the case.

mintich · 10/09/2019 23:21

@pancakeandkeith there was a huge search straight away as she was a homebody and going missing was completely out of character for her. It was all over Facebook on the sunday morning for people to start searching

EachandEveryone · 11/09/2019 00:26

Is her dad the serial killer from Corrie?

southeastdweller · 11/09/2019 07:14

No, he played Owen in that.

I agree with you south, Paul Nicholls played the young man with schizophrenia in East Enders. Joe Absolom is playing Christopher Halliwell in this programme.

Piggywaspushed · 11/09/2019 17:35

Who was Joe Absolom in EastEnders? He was in it, definitely.

Piggywaspushed · 11/09/2019 17:40

Ah, he was indeed Matthew. And I do get him and 'Joe' (can't do the accent she had! ) confused. 'Joe' was the schizophrenic played by Nicholls. Matthew was the one framed by Martin Kemp when he bumped off Saskia.

EastEnders at its finest!

Clawdy · 12/09/2019 10:45

He also plays the lovely Al in Doc Martin.

desperatehousewife21 · 12/09/2019 20:57

Which is back on with a new series this month!

I have no idea how this story ends I have never heard about it before so am watching fresh.

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 12/09/2019 21:42

Joe? Don't you mean JawWink

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 12/09/2019 21:44

I've just googled as I'm sure his mum used to call him Jaw (Joe) but apparently his name was Matthew. So ignore me Grin

Piggywaspushed · 13/09/2019 07:06

No, that was the Northern actress with Paul Nicholls! Don't worry ; I thought that too until I checked. I think the confusion arises because the actors looked similarish and one is called Joe irl!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/09/2019 20:17

WHo is watching tonight ?

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 16/09/2019 20:47

Me - watched the first 2 episodes earlier today and feel so scared. I don't know the true story at all but have a horrible feeling about it all.

courtlee · 16/09/2019 21:16

Watching Smile

FatherFintanFay · 16/09/2019 21:42

I read somewhere once that Joe Absolom looks like a cross between a young Malcolm McDowell and a meerkat, which is true, but he's putting in a great performance here. He's very intense and believable. I read this is the same writer that did Appropriate Adult a few years ago, which explains the quality of the dialogue.

As someone who works with PACE, I've been watching while cringing because I can see exactly where this is going to end up. I don't actually remember the case because I think perhaps it wasn't a prominent national news story.

baldisbeautiful · 16/09/2019 21:46

Chilling to watch but the camera work is giving me a migraine

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 16/09/2019 21:49

What's PACE?

southeastdweller · 16/09/2019 21:59

Imelda Staunton was brilliant in the last scene tonight.
