Very good acting

Sad both girls were killed but kinda assume they were or no story :(

But puzzled ya he said to daughter sell your story. Change your name

PancakeAndKeith · 17/09/2019 22:47

He said to sell her story because it was some way of some good coming from it I guess, in the sense that she would have money.

dottypotter · 18/09/2019 14:21

drags on better over consecutive nights or cut out all the adverts and make it a shorter series. How depressing that a man who has his own daughter wants to kill someone else's and bring all that grief to them. Would he like that done to his daughter?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2019 14:59

Often killers have the perfect family

But yes sad. Has own daughter And partner has children

Look at the Wests for example. They had their own children but killed others.

I have no idea what accents the original characters have, so I can't say that the accents in this bother me at all.

pinkribbons · 23/09/2019 21:27

Tonight's is really sad SadSad

TheZeppo · 23/09/2019 21:30

It really is. I think Imelda S deserves all the awards- you can really feel all her emotions.

Italiangreyhound · 23/09/2019 22:43

I was in tears tonight, it was so moving but I was also so very angry. I wonder if there is any campaign? There must be other victims. The Police Officer deserves a medal and yet he has been hugely let down b y the police. And Becky's family, how tragic.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 23/09/2019 22:54

Agree @Italiangreyhound.

DropZoneOne · 23/09/2019 23:27

I felt for Becky's mum in tonights episode. To know that she was able to get her daughter back because of how the police conducted the search but also that the killer can't be held to account for the same reason.

I don't get the dad at all, is he just completely selfish? To lie about seeing her for all those years and then make a formal complaint.

I'm not warming to Pilot Pete either, it's coming across like he's very controlling.

Rachelover60 · 23/09/2019 23:29

Yes, I like it but not sure I completely understand it all.

.......

Agree. She is great.

Italiangreyhound · 23/09/2019 23:38

DropZoneOne Yes, all so tragic. I thought Pete was being kind with the dad last week but I felt he totally took over with the funeral. That stupid phrase he used. I cannot imagine saying that to someone who had lost a loved one, let alone a child. Maybe the mum did not want the funeral to be simple. Sad

Italiangreyhound · 23/09/2019 23:39

Rachelover60 what don't you understand about it? Those of us who've read the story on line may know what you are asking.

purpleme12 · 24/09/2019 07:51

He is controlling. Not a nice person. I thought he was off last week too. I mean I just thought him offering to identify Becky was off because of the way he did it. It didn't come across like he was being kind. Was he horrible in real life? It just seems a bit strange to have that in the story

PrincessScarlett · 24/09/2019 09:06

It's so awful to think there are potentially other victims who will never get justice.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 24/09/2019 09:39

So true @PrincessScarlett.

I said last week that I thought Pilot Pete was controlling as I didn't like how he was about identifying the body.

Also thought the doctor was so inappropriate asking her such personal questions when she was already in such an intimate and vulnerable situation.

fussychica · 24/09/2019 11:42

I like it but it is soooo slow. Acting good all the way round. Steve definitely took the correct decision in my opinion but even if you didn't know the facts already you would have seen the downfall coming. Madness.

Bellasblankexpression · 25/09/2019 13:51

Just caught up. So sad. I hate Becky’s dad I don’t know if he was like that in real life but the way he’s been portrayed is not flattering. Why would he lie about seeing her then try to deny it?

I also feel so frustrated on the detective’s part. Joe Absolom is doing a great job - when the police officer asked if she was dead because he had referred to her body, the casual way he said “yeah” chilled me. And the way he was quite chipper about helping them find the spot for Becky too.

PancakeAndKeith · 25/09/2019 20:06

What was the relevance of the disgraced policeman who killed himself?

NoisingUpNissan · 26/09/2019 14:03

Yes I was wondering if he were like that in real life too

PinkDaydreams · 26/09/2019 16:49

@PancakeAndKeith yes I was wondering the same. No more has been mentioned about him?
And I too have been thinking was Pete like that in real life and if they are still together?

MeanMrMustardSeed · 26/09/2019 17:23

It’s a brilliant series. For anyone interested, a lot of the info for the writing of it came from Fulcher’s book - Catching a Serial Killer. It was highly recommended to me many months ago and it’s brilliant to see this programme. I am so so angry on Fulcher’s behalf though.

MontyBowJangles · 26/09/2019 23:02

Just caught up on this week's episode and found this thread.

I'm local to Swindon and knew lots about the case at the time.

I'm wondering if they kept the bit in about David Ainsworth commiting suicide in to show that Steve Fulcher had just lost a friend in a shocking and sudden way. Perhaps they're hinting that Steve Fulcher may have not been thinking 100% clearly. Though I completely agree that what he did was the right thing.

I thought they might mention the suicide again later on in the series or link it to something. If they don't, I think it's incredibly insensitive to David's family to just pop it in there for no apparent reason.

Wiltshire Police do not look good, and our criminal justice system is so infuriating at times. Why on earth should a murderer who pleads guilty get 5 years taken off just for admitting he did it?! I get that it's massively helpful for the victim's family to not have to go through a lengthy, painful court procedure, but I don't agree anything should be taken off the sentence Angry
