Is anyone else watching?
Couldn't see another thread for it. I'm hoping it's going to be good.

Cassie was terrible, can’t believe she won!

EttyG · 04/10/2019 20:35

Who would have thought when the chocolate hotel episode was on and Cassie designed that awful room that she would go on to win the whole show Hmm

Halsall · 05/10/2019 00:13

I caught up with it today, too. I didn't really care who won because I felt neither of the two finallists should have been there.

On balance I guess Cassie was the better decision in that she didn't make the same ridiculous mistakes Frank had kept making before (being massively disorganised, running out of materials/measuring wrongly). And his bookcases for the client's husband who was a 'huge reader' were completely absurd - I've got more books than that just in the pile next to my bed.

Cassie's bedroom was a shocker, though. There's a way to use old furniture that doesn't scream 'tatty' - unfortunately I'm not sure she's quite found it. And those wicker lampshades....😱

covetingthepreciousthings · 05/10/2019 07:07

I was in either the Nikki or Ju to win camp, I can't believe either of those two made the final, let alone Cassie winning.

I disliked her since the shop challenge week and she completely ignored the client wanting Terians (?) fabric choice for the curtain & it all led to Terian leaving that week which all seemed very unfair. I'd have liked to have seen her go a bit further.

I wonder if there will be a S2, I wish they'd adapt the format if so.

Ooh if anyone wants another interior show to watch I've just seen 'Your Home Made Perfect' is back and it's in the same slot as this, so this coming Wednesday 8pm!

Did anyone watch the last one? I thought it sounded an awful concept, but actually really enjoyed it.

Following families who want to completely redesign their homes, then two architects draw up plans and then the family get to see the designs with virtual reality goggles on Grin

I can't believe the ripping up of tiles, only to be replaced by Lino!!?

Or am I hideously out of touch?

NCTDN · 05/10/2019 08:44

@covetingthepreciousthings I live 'your home made perfect '. I spotless like to be on the programme but our house is too normal to be considered.

I too was horrified that floor tiles were replaced with lino!

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2019 09:10

I really gasped about Frank making (sorry having made) those weird 'wallframes' of paintings, WHY???? And not bothering to put up PROPER shelves for the bookworm husband of the client. Of course he shouldn't have won.

mydogisthebest · 05/10/2019 09:20

I do agree that Frank's bookshelves were pathetic. Both me and my DH are avid readers and we have book shelves everywhere including a spare bedroom with floor to ceiling shelves on 2 walls!

I still much preferred his kitchen to Cassie's and both his bedrooms. I loved the wallpaper in his spare room.

Cassie's nursery was good but the bedroom was absolutely awful. I really don't know how the young couple liked it. I am in my 60's and tend to like old stuff but I wouldn't want my bedroom to look like that. Her living room was ok but, as the judges said, absolutely no storage. Even without a baby surely everyone needs storage?

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2019 09:43

What's with the unmade bed look? Not exactly clever is it?

spongedog · 05/10/2019 10:11

Thought the series was dreadful and by the end couldnt care who won. But I do know I wouldnt be hiring any of them. Whereas Interior Design Challenge I felt you got to know the designers and to see their skills, even if it wasnt what I would want in my own home. Very disappointing series.

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2019 10:35

Yes I know, I think that the producers are to blame, Michelle the judge seemed a bit rushed and unhappy. Once again it's the "not having enough time" because it is thought by the producers that the audience wants some sort of jeopardy.

funmummy48 · 05/10/2019 13:43

Just watched the final and am staggered that Cassie won. She has such poor taste and total tunnel vision. That kitchen island was pointless and full of hazards for a cruising toddler. What mother is going to be comfortable breastfeeding in that low hanging basket chair? How much dust is going to gather along those non-shelves in the lounge? Frank’s design was better and there were other, much more worthy contestants.

AndromedaPerseus · 05/10/2019 17:53

I preferred the previous format where there was 2 interior designers as final judges rather than just Michele who had the final say. I agree with pp that she misses a lot of the detail and loses the bigger picture about who has been consistently good throughout the process. I also dont understand a lot of her reasonings about why some should leave or stay. I hated Cassie’s Hotel chocolate room and the barbers shop which she was wholly responsible for. Her designs in the final was Meh and the master bedroom looked very studently especially replacing the wardrobe doors with fabric

AndromedaPerseus · 05/10/2019 17:54

Agree with previous pp: trying to breastfeed in the hanging chair. That is so not going to work

360eyes · 05/10/2019 21:51

Does anyone know which bar Cassie would have made over as a part of winning the final? Would like to see what she did with it.

hilaryguineapig · 06/10/2019 09:10

Meh. I would have loved to see what Jerome and Kyle would have done.

Too many team challenges, not enough money or time, need more consultation before and feedback after with clients. I loved the inclusion of commercial spaces but would like more homes or public spaces would have been great.

I didn't like either apartment. I likes Cassie's panel and shelving but the colour was vile. Really didn't like Frank but I liked his kitchen and bench, it was better suited to the family Cassie was designing for.

They don't need to show all contestants in every episode. They could be scored rather than a knock out between two people?

I love that virtual reality thing.

ppeatfruit · 06/10/2019 11:13

Yes Hilary You idea is a good one, but it's too tame for the producers nowadays, they want nail biting cliff hanging types of endings and judgings, it's stupid but I suppose it's to atract the youth Hmm

funmummy48 · 06/10/2019 11:53

@360eyes I think it’s the Dorsett Hotel, Shepherds Bush. Frank mentions this on his Instagram account.

rosegoldwatcher · 06/10/2019 20:37

@covetingthepreciousthings - Thank you for the heads-up. I loved the first series of Your Home Made Perfect (and have a little crush on Robert Jamison!)
PS - I could not believe that Cassie won! (Think it could have been because Matthew Williamson's aesthetic style is similar to her's.) Frank had better answers to the judges' questions and, I believe, a more professional approach to designing.

MinesaPinot · 07/10/2019 14:12

I thought it was a disappointing series all round. Me and DH watched the first 2 or 3, and then picked it up again for the final. Couldn't have envisaged either Frank or Cassie being in the final, particularly after the disaster that was Cassie's hotel bedroom earlier in the series - all that dreadful draping and her 'would you need to clean it?' comment.

I much preferred the format of The Great Interior Design Challenge, so they can bring that back as quick as they like Smile

showmethegin · 08/10/2019 07:42

Cassie has released images of her hotel bar refurb on her instagram...

MonsteraCheeseplant · 08/10/2019 07:59

I loooooved The Great Interior Design Challenge. Bring it back now!!

EttyG · 08/10/2019 09:24

Hmm interesting to see the bar. I wonder what the brief for the bar was... maybe they chose the winner based on who had the best fit for the contract, so were after quite a specific style. Which the viewers wouldn't know about.

Michelle's comments on Cassie's post though Confused 'absolutely no doubt in my mind I made the right choice'. I think she knows a lot of people disagree with her choice!

bibliomania · 08/10/2019 09:29

Agree the format isn't satisfactory - much prefer The Great Interior Design Challenge. I want proper information about the brief plus the pitch.
