Is anyone else watching?
Couldn't see another thread for it. I'm hoping it's going to be good.

Cassie was awful in this episode (and all the rest to be honest). She should have gone home for imposing that dreadful wallpaper. However, I can't believe Frank spent over 4 hours badly painting a lampshade!

Lurleene · 12/09/2019 00:04

Oh no Kyle, I had him pegged as the series winner.

I was kind of surprised at the judging compared to the Chocolate Hotel. At the hotel practicality was a real consideration in terms of cleanliness, turning the room round etc etc. Yet this time in a holiday home people will be staying for longer, eating, drinking, partying, larger groups..and the rooms were all very dressed, lots of fripperies, plants to keep alive and not one mention of how impractical it would be to keep it all up to standard.

360eyes · 12/09/2019 06:51

Agree with Lurleene

I think this programme has been inconsistent at times. I am a bit frustrated about the budget and the contestants having very little time. That's why the rooms all look like IKEA rooms (although I'm always on a budget, so suits me fine).

Agree with the best team, but disappointed to see Kyle go before Frank and Cassie. I'm not keen on either of their contributions. Frank just seems to put wallpaper everywhere and I'm just not keen on Cassie's love of the old and gaudy, but I guess she is the one more likely to find new trends in the future because of this.

Think Ju has the title already. If she doesn't win, I will have lost faith in this programme.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/09/2019 07:09

On a positive note, I loved the winning lodge. The bedrooms were fantastic; if they spent 20 minutes editing the overload of accessories in the living room that would have been so much better.

Goatrider · 12/09/2019 07:10

I agree that there was far too much 'stuff' in both of them. The living rooms were crammed.

The winning one was the best but it wasn't that good. For one thing, it didn't seem to have enough seating for 4 people.

I missed them being given the brief, but they said the target market was groups of women over 30. Shouldn't all of the bedrooms have had single beds?

longwayoff · 12/09/2019 14:36

No! Wrong person bring him back and send the other guy home!

Cocolapew · 14/09/2019 14:22

Started to watch the interior design challenge on Netflix, it's so much better. Wish they would bring it back.

redchocolatebutton · 14/09/2019 15:14

chalets - what's the point, it's basically a caravan.

I didn't think I would like to go on holiday there. all the talk about bringing the outside in - when all that was outside were other chalets and the tarmac road...

longearedbat · 14/09/2019 16:11

Yes, I couldn't understand the attraction of having a balcony by a road. I would have put the chalets the other way round, but perhaps the view from the rear is crap.

MrsGrindah · 14/09/2019 16:18

Far too much crap everywhere.
I hated the bedrooms if the winning team..I think they had a 60s hospital vibe about them.
Agree it was good to set the sofa facing the view BUT what happens when you want to watch TV?
That woman banging on about textures annoyed me, even if she is a famous interior designer.

And I think... this might be the winning lodge, but the only thing remaining is the curtains!
It's exactly the same layout when comparing pictures, but obviously been completely repainted etc again..

Just seems like a massive bloody waste of resources and time! Confused (I know it's for a tv show, but still!)

Good detective work coveting!

So they put back the bog standard furniture but kept the wallpaper, fire surround, awful headboard and lamps! And oddly enough cleared out all the clutter. I’d like to see what happened to the other lodge.

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/09/2019 18:03

I hated the losing lodge bedroom, they reminded be or hi di hi and old Butlins and not very warm and inviting.

LIZS · 14/09/2019 18:06

They even kept the naff ikea lampshade! Back to practical brown leather sofas.

rosegoldwatcher · 14/09/2019 19:35

The Great Interior Design Challenge - Series 2, 3 and 4 is also available on Amazon Prime.
Can't find series 1 anywhere though! (Sarah Moore from Money for Nothing won that one.)

Cocolapew · 14/09/2019 22:38

I can't believe they kept the wallpaper Hmm

longwayoff · 15/09/2019 11:26

But - white sofas for the 'girls weekend' chalet? Red red wine la la la . . .

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/09/2019 11:47

I would never buy a leather sofa for my house, but for furnishing a rental etc they would be top of the list. The white sofa made me laugh, it would be trashed in 6 months.

TrashPanda · 15/09/2019 11:57

I don't think they have pictures of the winning lodge on there, as all the 2 bed ones have the same pictures with the same curtains.

Yes I think you're right, which is a shame, as I'd love to see what they kept from those rooms..

TrashPanda · 15/09/2019 12:14

It definitely would have been nice to see what they kept

Here's Nicki's blog post about this past weeks challenge.

For a cosy night in I love a corner unit, they have put the awful sofas back in. I agree that leather is practical but that style didn't fit either brief. I don't like all of the teaming up, that's why we can't see how the designer's style has evolved.

Wrong person went, I'd love to see what Kyle would have done next, Cassie and Frank bore me. God help whomever get Frank in the team up next week.

I'd like more time given so the job was less half-arsed.

hilaryguineapig · 16/09/2019 20:46

Thanks for the links to what the caravans look like now. I agree, can't believe they kept that wallpaper. All back to bland.
