I was never a big fan of hers but this show is making me feel very sad. Jade was in her own way quite vulnerable and naive and she was treated horribly by the press. She did some stupid things on camera including stripping off (though the other contestants made no effort to tell her it wasn't the best idea and that awful Kate whatsherface looked positively gleeful) but I feel for her more now than I did then.

And to think she was so full of life and was taken so young is just heart breaking

She was coached in the diary room about what to for tv time.
Also she was a racist. No time for that.

If only Paul Busetti and his friends were held to the same standard as Jade Goody was.

But in their case many are arguing that its only freedom of speech

Working class woman hend to higher standard than middle class man.

The hell you say.

No she wasnt But Bussetti and his friends wernt as vilified by the general public as she was.

Ive seen all sorts of mental gymnastics performed on his behalf such as the free speech card being played.

In court he got away with saying the ninja comment was nothing to do with the Grenfell residents but a nick name for his son.

Do you think people would have been so ready to believe Jade if she had said the poppadum comment wasnt about Shilpa?

And he also got away with saying the paper figures in the paper tower were NOT the Grenfell residents but him and his friends (which is how the narrative got changed that the ninja comment wasnt aimed at Grenfell residents) despite the fact that someone could/can clearly be heard that video saying "this is what happens when you dont pay your rent"

Racism is racism FULL STOP. It shouldnt matter what class the racist is percieved to be from But apparently in the UK it does!

Helena I’m not denying that Bussetti sounds absolutely vile. He was cleared of charges over some technical issue of evidence not being disclosed and uncertainty about who circulated the video.

My point was that it’s a strange comparison to make to try to argue that Jade was vilified more because she never faced any criminal charges over her racist behaviour, whereas he did.

Anyway racism is racism whether it’s a not very bright person from a working class background who holds those views or someone from any other background.

Jades views were disgusting.

His excuses were accepted Jades wouldnt have been

Boris comments about piccaninnies and watermelon smiles didnt stop him from becoming PM.

Its ridiculous to pretend there arent class issues at play here.

Paul Busseti is the guy mocking Grenfell tragedy?
If that’s him, it’s not about class, is it really. Read his back story and his dad was basically a nasty crook (who’s body was found in a suitcase) and he took on the mantle.

Jade was her own person but framed within the context of her awful upbringing. She was ignorant. She was brought up ignorant. I don’t worship her, but you can see how she was set up up as the ultimate ‘chav’ for our entertainment.

Since she escaped criminal charges for her racist behaviour it’s impossible to know.

And yes Boris Johnson has disgusting views too.

I don’t understand the mindset of anyone who seeks to minimise jade goody’s behaviour. She was nasty and racist, and the fact that some other people are too, doesn’t change that.

Im not minimizing her behaviour at all as the last line of my post at 1900 hours shows.

I just watched the final episode and found it very sad. I was in tears a few times.

What she did in CBB was awful and there’s no excuse for what she did and she should never be excused from it. However, watching a young woman die like that and her have to be faced with the prospect of leaving behind her two young boys is heartbreaking.

I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and I don’t know how I would cope if I was told I had terminal cancer and wouldn’t live to see them grow up and leave them without a mother.

No matter what she did in her past she still gets my sympathies.

I just hope, that for lots of reasons, her son’s didn’t see and never do see that documentary.
