Jade Goody Programme on channel 4

I was never a big fan of hers but this show is making me feel very sad. Jade was in her own way quite vulnerable and naive and she was treated horribly by the press. She did some stupid things on camera including stripping off (though the other contestants made no effort to tell her it wasn't the best idea and that awful Kate whatsherface looked positively gleeful) but I feel for her more now than I did then.

And to think she was so full of life and was taken so young is just heart breaking

She was used as fodder by the tv companies and the gutter press. There was a vulnerability about her but she was also smart enough to grab whatever she could. Very sad that she died so young as she had so much to live for. She looked after her boys and ensured that they would have the education opportunities that she missed out on. She also cared deeply for her Mum and protected her even after the awful childhood she had. She made mistakes but also left a huge legacy.

I can never understand how jade was racist but was it jermain Jackson who referred to the white trash wasn't racist?
I'm sure white trash isn't seen as racist in America. It's our version of 'chav'

Perhaps Jade’s racist behaviour is not mutually exclusive with that of someone else? Perhaps the poster above was basing her argument on Whataboutism?

It wasn’t so much racism as sustained bullying in CBB, and she was the ringleader. Having been on the receiving end of bullies like that I find it hard to consider her a national treasure.

But yeah she loved her kids. Like a lot of parents.

She's from the same area as me. Lots of local shop owners remember her.

When she found out she was dying, she took every media deal she could as she wanted her boys to have a private education. That was her dying wish. It always gets me.

I'm watching tonight and her return to the CBB house with her mum and boyfriend. Obviously the racism thing at the time was what it was all about but watching again now years later it's just awful.....really awful. Why put her and her family in there and do that particular task. I'm am proper cringing watching it.

Danielle is coming across spiteful as is Jo and Jade was not deserving of the media attention. It is just shocking to watch. My heart goes out to those who have loved and lost her but this is difficult viewing.

It was all so manipulated by C4, they are massively to blame with it all. It was never going to end well. I felt like Danielle and Jo instigated it in a way, it's almost like they pushed Jade when she was vulnerable. That is not to excuse Jade but she just came across so naive and ignorant whereas they seemed like nasty bullies

There is another thread about this over on chat and a few of the posters are worse bullies than Jade ever was that's for sure. Vile posters.

I felt the other two girls should have been held to account. Cowards not to have stood up next to Jade.

They are still vilified and hated, their careers pretty much tanked. Jade has been forgiven because she died.

But are they still villafied and hated? Jo O Meara possibly but I have seen Danielle on the front of numerous celeb mags over recent years. "My post natal depression" "My weight loss battle" etc. She was awful on cbb too yet she gets to keep her "fame"

Yes vilified and hated on this thread for one thing. Taking all the blame when Jade is being excused for being manipulatied by the media and having terrible parents. Danielle was a victim of DV. Doesn’t excuse her behaviour but her background wasn’t wonderful either. The three of them were no very bright with not much in common who used bullying a self confident woman they couldn’t relate to to bond over, like bullies often do. The fact that Jade already had her family in there with her as support makes her decision to victimise someone else worse imho.

I was never a fan, but the tabloid vitriol was terrible about her though and it’s very sad she died so young. I’m glad that she at least rinsed every last penny out of the sleazy tabloids that had so exploited her so that her sons had some money for the education she wanted them to have.

This program has now made me want to buy Jades autobiography and to read more about her shit childhood. I didn’t like Jade back then, we were born the same year, and found her to be irritating as hell but god it’s all so sad and didn’t she die on Mothers Day?

Yes she did.
As to the white trash comment Jermaine did not even say trash out loud - and distanced himself from it - he was trying to explain the class system and I think the Goody family (how ironic as they were set up to be baddies) had already used the term as how they thought the others saw them?
