Has anyone else seen the first episode?

I watched all of season 1 again yesterday in preparation.

Merry Streep was really good and I love Reese Witherspoon.

I had predicted Celeste might be pregnant this series but apparently not.

I really recommend Sharp Objects if any of you haven’t seen it. Slightly darker than BLL but Sharp Objects was much better than season 2 of BLL

I liked it but thought the ending was too ambiguous- wtf? Really unsatisfying.

Loved Renata going loco on the train set, I would have done too. It made me laugh.

Liked the Ed and Madeleine ending and Jane’s ending but ultimately it was an unsatisfactory last episode imo

EdWinchester · 28/07/2019 19:53

I liked it, but mostly for the acting - from everyone apart from the Bonnie character. I cared little for her and the acting was flat.

The storyline was a bit silly.

Am I the only one who watched it and found the fact Perry died after being pushed down 10 stairs entirely implausible?!
I’ve fallen down 10 stairs carrying a load of washing Grin other than a few bruises I was fine. I mean, I know they were concrete but it just seemed really un believable.
The book was more realistic in that he was shoved over the edge of a balcony with nothing breaking his fall.

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 19:27

Presumably not concrete steps though?

CakeNinja · 30/07/2019 19:39

I was just a bit flabberghasted that falling down 10 relatively wide gently steps would come across as being deadly!!

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 19:55

Concrete though, big difference and banging your head too.

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 19:56

“There is a fall on stairs every 90 seconds in the UK, and an estimated 250,000 non-fatal accidents which are serious enough to merit a trip to A&E. It's the most common area of the home for us to receive injuries, and an estimated that 58,000 children have accidents on stairs every year

AlbertWinestein · 30/07/2019 20:05

I loved it! I even enjoyed the unraveling of Bonnie. The casting of MS was genius. It was a bit of a slow burner but it was good.

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 31/07/2019 07:20

.

sonsmum · 31/07/2019 09:54

It wasn't just the falling down the stairs that killed him. Something impaled in his neck as he fell. We had to freeze frame to spot that.

CakeNinja · 31/07/2019 12:00

@sonsmum that makes way more sense than just falling down some really non steep stairs! Thank you 😊

Procrastination4 · 31/07/2019 15:23

Season 2-didn’t like it as much as Season 1 and the ending was rather flat. Didn’t like season 1 as much as the book. If there’s a season 3, I don’t think I’d bother watching it. Meryl Streep and the soundtrack were the best things about this one. “Jane”s fringe was distracting, Bonnie and her flashbacks were annoying (can’t even remember if her painful mother lived or died!) and Madeline’s renewal of vowswith her poor betrayed husband was too cosy altogether. Celeste-I just wanted to shake her, apart from the final courtroom scene, where things livened up a bit.

Deadringer · 06/08/2019 00:49

I just finished watching this and I really enjoyed it, not as good as season one certainly, but still worth watching, especially for the wonderful Meryl Streep. I read the book between seasons and thought it was terrific. I don't see how they could possibly stretch another season out of it, but I will watch it if they do.

Benjispruce · 11/08/2019 18:33

I have just found series 2 having only read the book.I love it even though it moves the setting from Sydney to California. The casting is great, the soundtrack has me hooked.

Benjispruce · 11/08/2019 18:34

BTW in the book Parry falls over a balcony from a bar stool, not down steps. The flashbacks were confusing me.

ChessieFL · 12/08/2019 07:01

I’ve just finished watching this and I loved it! I thought it was just as gripping as series 1. I didn’t even notice Meryl’s teeth until I read about them on this thread. I’m really disappointed there won’t be a third series.

I did think it was going to end with Bonnie dying in a car accident on her way to confess though.

Benjispruce · 12/08/2019 10:13

I noticed the teeth straight away. Meryl was great. Passive aggression at its best.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/11/2022 20:08

This is now on sgsin

Wasn’t sure if I had seen it but found this thread and I’ve replied so guess I have 😂
