Has anyone else seen the first episode?

I watched all of season 1 again yesterday in preparation.

Merry Streep was really good and I love Reese Witherspoon.

I had predicted Celeste might be pregnant this series but apparently not.

I'm using the wow in the opposite way.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 22/07/2019 12:30

Not telling anything! 😂😂 You all must be strong

TokyoSushi · 22/07/2019 12:55

Argh!! It's going to be a long wait until 9!

breakfastpizza · 22/07/2019 13:04

I enjoyed the second series, but without Meryl I don't think it would have been worth watching.

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 13:26

Willie Nelson was the only good part of that entire series 🙄

Knittedjimmychoos · 22/07/2019 17:05

Meryl has so beautifully encapsulated the gas lighting, impervious cold Mil.

ConfCall · 22/07/2019 17:05

The stellar cast is the only thing that stopped S2 being a total dud for me. Actually, the first ep was strong. It went downhill from there.

lazymum99 · 22/07/2019 18:29

No wow factor there for me. Acting good but storyline tedious and predictable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2019 18:37

So s2 was a waste of time

And finally the girls go to the station to confess ?

So now needs a s3

supercee · 22/07/2019 21:02

I've just finished it. Will wait until it finishes at 10pm.

RuggerHug · 22/07/2019 21:37

That.....That was IT?!?

Clawdy · 22/07/2019 22:13

I found it quite a satisfactory ending. No loose ends, just as well as there is not going to be a third series. Then Janis singing in the final moments......!

Encyclo · 22/07/2019 22:26

Renata, demolishing worthless Gordon’s trainset was a particular highlight for me 👏👏

Artesia · 22/07/2019 22:33

Were they going to confess? I wondered if Bonnie had something to do with her mum’s second stroke, and she was going to confess while the others supported her. She gets the “punishment” she feels she deserves, without having to reveal what happened to Perry.

Clawdy · 22/07/2019 22:48

No, pretty certain it was the Perry confession. No point in the friends turning up just as support, they wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near as she was questioned, if it was the mum thing.

nowifi · 22/07/2019 22:57

I actually liked this series. But confused by the ending, are they going to confess or...? Either way if there's no s3 I guess we'll never know!

PurpleDaisies · 22/07/2019 22:59

I was so disappointed by this. They should have stopped after series 1.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 22/07/2019 23:07

I thought this series was slow in general but liked the last episode, esp the courtroom scenes when Celeste cross examined ML and the scene when R smashed the train set.

LoseLooseLucy · 22/07/2019 23:08

I thought it was bad really, no proper storylines with the other characters, and a cliched court case. The ending of them going into the police station was cack, although I thought for a moment Bonnie was going to drive her car into oncoming traffic.

EachandEveryone · 23/07/2019 00:11

That was a total let down. So predictable.

supercee · 23/07/2019 07:04

Yeah a bit of a letdown wasn't it. Glad the court case went the way it did in the end and the way it went for Madeline and Ed.

Poor season all round though.

The end I took from it that Bonnie was finally free of her mother, free of Nathan so the only thing she had to wrap up was Perry and was going to hand herself in.

Piffpaffpoff · 23/07/2019 08:45

I can now expand on my wow...

I though the court scenes between Kidman and Streep were excellent and I liked the outcome there. I thought Renata finally letting it out and going postal on her husband was superb. I was glad Jane stayed with that bloke. Madeline and Bonnie - whatever.

But, then the final bit as they went to the police station, I just thought ‘meh’.

historysock · 23/07/2019 08:49

I also
Quite liked this season-not a patch on season 1 but still enjoyed it.
Loved Renata throughout. Thought the courtroom bits were excellent.
Annoyed about the ending as I guess we'll
Never really know what they are actually going to do-is Bonnie going to confess? Are they all going to confess (in which case what's the point in the rest of it? Custody case, renewal of vows-all for nothing if you end up in the slammer for manslaughter and perverting justice 🤷🏽‍♀️). As I don't want it all to have been in vain I've decided that Bonnie confesses manslaughter, they all back her up and she gets a suspended sentence -because I hate an unhappy ending!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2019 09:45

There will be a s3

And we will watch it as cox want to know the ending 😂😂

The court case was fab !!! She gave mil it good !!!

MsLumley · 23/07/2019 10:00

They should have kept it to one series. Series 2 was just dull and predictable. Liane Moriarty is a brilliant storyteller but maybe she should stick to books rather than screenplays.

That said I did think Celeste's court room scenes were excellent and wish they'd lasted longer. As a PP said, this series was held together by great acting but the storylines were crap.
