Has anyone else seen the first episode?

I watched all of season 1 again yesterday in preparation.

Merry Streep was really good and I love Reese Witherspoon.

I had predicted Celeste might be pregnant this series but apparently not.

We never get to see myrel on the stand!!

Knittedjimmychoos · 15/07/2019 17:17

For those watching via now tv when does... Last episode show? Assuming there is one Shock

LoseLooseLucy · 15/07/2019 17:50

The final episode is on next week.

ReeReeR · 15/07/2019 21:16

I just watched this week’s episode. It’s not bad, is it, but I still think something needs to happen and only one more episode.

I can understand NK reacting how she did on the stand. Lawyer or not it would be difficult to deal with the questions about some of the things she’s done.

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2019 21:58

Wow! That went from blah blah to fabulous in one swift episode!

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 15/07/2019 22:23

Just watched the most recent episode & I still love the series. Think it's great to watch how they're all unravelling following Perry's death and thought Bonnie's speech to her mum was heartbreaking and explained a lot.

Love Renata and can't believe her dirty dog of a husband with the nanny. What's it for going to take for her to divorce him?

I like the pace as don't see the need to rush it through. Would quite like there to be another series as love the cast and the houses and scenery!

Oblomov19 · 16/07/2019 11:31

Watching episode 6. Think it's a really cheap shot, in the trial, to suddenly have Celeste sleeping with 6 or so men, that the viewers knew nothing about.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/07/2019 13:52

suddenly have Celeste sleeping with 6 or so men

But there have been flashbacks throughout with unrecognisable men having sex with Celeste. I assume the storytellers feel they’ve satisfied that particular bombshell.

This series has been so uneven, and knowing that the director’s “mood setting” scenes were somewhat snipped and that Series 1 director Jean-Marc Valée (?) was brought in to tide things explains a lot.

I’m sure the final episode will be a corker, but directorial changes aside, I can’t quite believe the writing of Series 2 came from my beloved David E. Kelley and Liane Moriarty. They know better.

And they need a Series 3 to make it up to the viewers. Grin

The flashbacks were so quick and dark that I assumed they were of Celeste and Perry. I thought she was remembering their troubled sex life. Obviously it wasn't, but I don't think it was at all clear.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/07/2019 14:27

don't think it was at all clear

Nor do I. And I’ve zero idea what the endless waves with Bonnie are all about.

sillysmiles · 16/07/2019 14:40

Interesting though in Bonnie's speech about not loving her husband -who's name escapes me now.

Yabbers · 16/07/2019 14:46

Did I miss how Renata and Madeleine, who were sworn enemies, suddenly became friends?

AliceRR · 16/07/2019 15:02

I assumed they became friends after the night that Perry died as it bonded them together in their secret

I didn’t realise Celeste had been sleeping with these men either. Was it supposed to be when Perry was alive or since he died?

alltoomuchrightnow · 16/07/2019 15:27

NK went all Australian again in court.

Oblomov19 · 16/07/2019 15:31

The sexual flashbacks? I thought they were all Perry. I didn't realise any of them were other men.
I thought it was just one - the bar man, who met the two sons and MJ when MJ bought the boys back early.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 16/07/2019 15:34

Must be after Perry died as the photos were taken by a PI hired by Meryl.

tenthreginald · 16/07/2019 15:42

We're probably supposed to think they're of Perry because that's actually who she's thinking of when having sex with these other men. She misses only him.

ShagMeRiggins · 16/07/2019 16:01

By the way, sorry if this has been mentioned before, but the Meryl Streep character is called Mary Louise, which is Streep’s real name.

I remember this because Cher thanked Mary Louise Streep when receiving her Oscar for Moonstruck. The two had previously worked together in Silkwood and become friends.

I’m sure the character name is by design and it made me smile.

Oblomov19 · 16/07/2019 18:02

I couldn't find any Celeste men flashbacks in 4. In 5 right at the beginning there is a clip of Celeste dazed : seeing one man, possibly 2, in a toilet, and then ML closing the door. But 6?

Oblomov19 · 16/07/2019 18:13

I hope when Celeste gets Mary Louise in court, ages got something really good.

Even if she shows that Mary Louise was ..... neglectful, drunk? allowing Perry to accidentally/purposely kill his younger brother? Will that be enough?

supercee · 16/07/2019 18:19

I know, Celeste better pull it out the bag to make this series worthwhile.

Dear me, what is it with all these shows that never live up to the second season and beyond. Nicole needs to stop mesding with her face now. kylie has the same look about her and Im wondering if they use the same surgeon? Thats how interested Ive been watching this.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/07/2019 09:15

I’d thought the sex flashbacks were all Perry too.

Bonnie’s husband is Nathan. Who we mercifully didn’t see this episode.

I’m still not sure what the point of her mum’s visit has been. And as if there wasn’t someone nearby in the hospital when she read the letter to her mum who overheard her confession?

I thought before that Madeleine and Renata had a school yard relationship and were friendly enough before the strangling stuff with the kids, at which point Madeleine defended her new mate jane and Renata was understandably hurt and defensive. But as the two career women they seem to have more in common and once the strangling mystery was solved and then Perry died they got back to before with the added bond of what happened on top.

Not a clue how they’ll wrap it up and pacing wise at any rate I’m a bit disappointed Moriarty put her name on it at the moment.
