I was a lurker on the last thread, I didn't post much, but I loved all of your comments. So the last one was full, here's another one

OP posts:
Honeyroar · 17/09/2019 04:09

Yes I think it was underwhelming too. I just lost my friend from cancer and everyone reacted, even if it was to completely ignore her out of embarrassment 😒. My friend never had a hospice mentioned to her until the point where hospital could no longer do anything and she was really poorly either. Perhaps that was just her.

eddiemairswife · 17/09/2019 08:28

On a lighter note, Did I hear that Gary was project manager for the factory refit? Is there no end to the man's talents?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 17/09/2019 08:30

Yeah they’ve once again done the storyline really badly. Same as when she was going through it the first time.

PleasedToSeeYou · 17/09/2019 09:05

I was thinking the same eddiemairswife, it's ridiculous, he will be running the bistro next

QueenDaisy · 17/09/2019 11:34

Honeyroar sorry for your loss, I’m sure your friend appreciated your friendship when she needed it the most xx

desperatehousewife21 · 17/09/2019 13:47

I also thought the reactions were really shit. Even Beth’s she was barely crying and she was a bit ‘oh no...’ Hmm what?! If I’d found out my 25yo niece was going to die in a few months I’d be honestly reeling. Chesney’s reaction was the worst he’s not exactly a casual acquaintance Confused

ajandjjmum · 17/09/2019 13:54

I thought Tyron's Nan's reaction was really well done.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 17/09/2019 16:11

Evelyns reaction really reminded me of the old school generation receiving bad news. My nan and the like never wailed and broke down, it was always matter if fact but still caring and loving. I think Evelyn got that sentiment perfectly.

She is becoming a highlight of Corrie.

Honeyroar · 17/09/2019 19:42

Thanks QueenDaisy, that's a nice thing to say.x

Yes I thought Evelyn's reaction was lovely.

eddiemairswife · 17/09/2019 20:26

Maureen Lipmann is a good actress who has been in a variety of parts during her career, unlike many soap actors and actresses, who seem to go from soap to soap.

Deadringer · 17/09/2019 22:04

Ah I thought Beth looked very upset, devastated but trying to hold it together, exactly the way i would be.

QueenDaisy · 18/09/2019 08:30

Honeyroar You’re welcome, people who experience cancer are scared & good friends are hard to come by Flowers

Dieu · 18/09/2019 23:55

God forgive me for saying this, but I absolutely cannot stand the character of Sinead. She's so bloody wet. And that voice!
Great acting from the actress who plays her but I hope it won't be a long battle Wink

Redglitter · 19/09/2019 01:00

God forgive me for saying this, but I absolutely cannot stand the character of Sinead

I dont think theres anything wrong with saying it. I cant stand her or her drippy husband

Dieu · 19/09/2019 11:09

@Redglitter

Grin Thanks, but it felt a bit wrong in the context of the cancer storyline!
I totally agree with you though.

millimat · 19/09/2019 12:48

As heartbreaking as it is, I think the Sinead story line is very well played.

nildesparandum · 19/09/2019 23:10

Sinead gets on my nerves. They could not have chose a worse character to have terminal cancer.Even before she was diagnosed I could not stand her, always whining and moaning in that irritating voice, and her husband just makes it worse.
Where is her mother in all this anyway?

Mollypolly2610 · 20/09/2019 00:21

I said this last night. Her mother came to her wedding then just pissed off????

Honeyroar · 20/09/2019 07:47

It happens in real life too though. My friend who just died from cancer hardly ever saw her mother, and she never visited once the whole year she was ill, then played the "poor me, I've lost my daughter" role afterwards. TBH my friend was relieved she didn't come, she had enough to cope with as it was.

I hope they don't drag this out until Xmas though. It's too far away and it's too painful.

And I really hope Daniel doesn't fall into Bethany's arms too quickly, it almost looks like he could now. THAT would be a shocker of a storyline!

woodhill · 20/09/2019 08:04

On a lighter note, I'm still trying to work out the layout of Norris's house and the stairs. It looks totally different. We never saw the front parlour bit before?

NCTDN · 20/09/2019 14:40

@woodhill me too. I want to see the view from the front door.

Honeyroar · 20/09/2019 16:09

Id like to see a floor plan and photos Rightmove style for all the houses, just to work out how everyone fits in.

BotOff · 20/09/2019 16:10

T

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 20/09/2019 16:24

This is my understanding of what they’ve done to Norris’s house.

They’ve taken the bottom half of the stairs and turned them 180degrees so you’re arriving downstairs into the living room. (Where Norris hadn’t a dining table) heaven knows why as they’ve basically just lost a shit of living space. they’ve also removed the wall between the living room and front room So it’s all open plan like Devs and they have the dining table at the front like Dev. Then in the space where you walk into the house and what would have been the bottom half of the stairs they’ve made it a hallway And added double doors into the open plan living space. (Again- why???)
