I was a lurker on the last thread, I didn't post much, but I loved all of your comments. So the last one was full, here's another one

OP posts:

Here's an idea. Soaps want to be 'real life', and show heartbreak, death, crime, bullying etc, why can't they have also have a happy family? A family that love each other and, well, just live out their lives having minor upsets. It happens in real life, why not in a made-up drama? Couldn't they just have left them alone from now on?

They only want "real life" when it suits them. When was the last time there was a normal/happy wedding in Corry? Why does there always have to be tragedy, break-ups, etc? That just isn't real life at all.

Same with misery every sodding Christmas. The vast majority of people have happy/neutral Christmases, not disasters, murders, etc.

Clawdy · 12/09/2019 11:08

Yes, the early Corrie series always featured normal families, loving relationships, times of trouble and sorrow, but all pretty realistic. All they do now is harrowing or unbelievable storylines, with the occasional silly or slapstick comedy scene.

Thesearmsofmine · 12/09/2019 11:29

I’ve just caught up on the last few episodes. I thought the last one was very good, very sad and I also had a little cry.

QueenDaisy · 12/09/2019 11:31

I’m more of a lurker on here than a poster, although I do post occasionally.

I also cried watching both of last nights episodes, very moving & well acted xx

eddiemairswife · 12/09/2019 14:20

I'll be glad to see the back of Sinead.I can't stand her big miserable eyes and that awful voice.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 12/09/2019 15:44

eddies I did do a little snort last night when sinead said she wanted Daniel to play the wedding video for Bertie so he could hear the sound of her voice. Grin her whiney drawl goes right through me. Will be glad to no longer have to hear it.

Redglitter · 12/09/2019 16:23

Joxer I laughed at that too when she said that. 🤭

AgentCooper · 12/09/2019 16:30

Lurker here too. I kind of wish i’d watched to the end now because i’d have laughed at that too. As it was I switched off halfway through because I was too upset. I’ve a wee DS of 23 months who loves Bear Hunt. I switched off for the duration of Hayley dying so I reckon i’ll be doing the same here.

I had to put Mindhunter on because I needed something less upsetting. It was that bad.

LHMB · 12/09/2019 16:52

I found it really upsetting too and don't know if I will watch when she dies which I assume will be over Christmas, seeing as they love to put depressing storylines on over the Christmas period, also I'm pregnant and due around Christmas and suffer from depression so think I'll give it a miss

AgentCooper · 12/09/2019 17:16

Spot on Clawdy. The difference when you watch classic Corrie is striking.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/09/2019 17:54

Okay either i have officially gone insane, been Mandela effected or have a false memory or it’s a recycled storyline, but
I could swear we’ve had the Abi and Kev thing before. Where he says he’s too old. They go on a date. She records him chatting shit and get all narked. He finds out and sacks her. Song puts a good word in and she gets her job bAck.

Redglitter · 12/09/2019 18:40

I thought hed already found out about the videos too. I was surprised when she started filming him the other night

AgentCooper · 12/09/2019 20:07

One thing I will say in favour of the Sinead storyline is that it basically jolted me into phoning up and booking my overdue smear this morning.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/09/2019 20:16

I’m sure the producers will be delighted if it even saves one life. @Agentcooper.

I went for one smear 20+ years ago and nothing will convince me to go back. I’d rather not know what was going on inside me. I got up today so that’s good enough for me.
I’m stupid, I know. I just can’t stand anything invasive

Spidey66 · 12/09/2019 21:32

Do it babyspider.

I don't need them as I've had my cervix removed during a hysterectomy but I would otherwise.

I'm not mad on Sinead but found it sad.

nildesparandum · 12/09/2019 21:39

Sinead's voice goes right through me as well. Constantly whining and moaning, the could not have chosen a worse character to give this type of storyline to.
I d not watch Corrie very much so have missed her back story but cannot help thinking where is her mother in all this?

TheDragonFromDreams · 13/09/2019 06:53

@Awwlookatmybabyspider I don’t want to turn this thread into a smear test thread, but please go.

Had mine a couple of weeks ago and it’s really not invasive. Honestly, it was over in less than two minutes and wasn’t at all painful. Treatment you would need if you left it and something were to happen would be much more invasive.

Sorry if I’ve spoken out of turn Flowers

eddiemairswife · 13/09/2019 16:05

Was Sinead's mother Doreen from Brookside or was that her nan?

QueenDaisy · 13/09/2019 18:23

eddiemairswife that was her Nan 🙂

teddyclown · 13/09/2019 20:28

I'm another switching off for the duration of the Sinead storyline (at least) It's all just to harrowing and no longer entertainment 😟
I've watched for years, but the storylines have just become too crazy.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/09/2019 20:52

Ryan: “thanks daddy” Grin Grin Grin

So were to believe Ali has been successfully hiding a drug addiction for a year, yeah?

EachandEveryone · 13/09/2019 20:57

The ali storyline is annoying me

Honeyroar · 13/09/2019 21:32

All Ali story lines annoy me, especially if they also involve his brother or mother as well.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 13/09/2019 21:43

Ryan isn't Ali's brother though. He's just an annoying knob with a pathetic moustache. What happened to him owing Gary money?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/09/2019 21:48

I noticed on Wednesday Ryan said to Maria something like “you’re with the wrong brother” and shouted at the TV “he’s not your brother!”

Why do they keep referring to themselves as brothers?
