In what way can it be described as 'entertainment'?

I seriously, don't understand why people happily sit down to watch the carnage, the immolation, the screaming children.

What is wrong with people?

I can't cope with it either OP. Nothing inherently wrong with a ripping yarn, and I remember being enthralled at the drama of court and torture of Anne Boleyn's lovers, when I was a teen but not to my taste now.

Hellen, if you'd taken a few minutes to read, you'd see that I am sitting in bed waiting for DH to finish in the shower.

I recognise that 'attention to detail' can derail rhetoric.

And a bit more attention to detail would educate you into realising that my issue is that you are allowed to watch it, who have no issue with the nastiness of it.

Maybe, I don't really want to be on the 46 bus alongside you tomorrow, like I don't want to be alongside the person who spent most of last night wanking to just 18 year olds being filmed doing hardly consensual sexual acts, on video, for cash.

Both 'choices'.

It's fiction you know. Yes screaming, frightened children is horrific to witness as is, I'm sure, actual burn injuries. But GOT is fantasy not fact. Dragons and zombies and so on. If you don't like is switch off.

It was me who wrote the complaint to eastenders and writing get a grip with each word on a new line hasn’t made me rethink. Studies show the huge impact that viewing violence has on children’s behaviour and EE which is pre-watershed is full of aggression, screaming and shouting, murder, rape etc etc. Censorship isn’t for the sake of people who make sensible viewing choices, it’s for the safety of young or vulnerable people.
Anyway, back to GoT, don’t want to derail.

I watched some of it but didn't like the number of sex scenes (very aimed at men) and extreme violence. It got a bit boring as many series do after several.

I watched a bit of a couple of episodes...it made me feel sick.

I don't know how anyone can watch it and find it entertaining - I think there must be something very wrong with people's brains.

I suppose there must have been people back in the Roman era who also had a problem with watching people being ripped apart by lions for fun. I expect everyone treated them with similar respect to that which the OP is getting on here.

Well, OP, don't worry - history will judge continue to judge those who find the sight of human suffering entertaining....and history will know that it wasn't all of us.
