Does anyone know when this will be aired? Last year it said expected first week of May but can’t find it. Paranoid I’ll miss it, I love that series

And does anyone know what happened to Child of Our Time and Born to be special (not sure that was the name)? Are they still going?

Thanks!

I meant z listers but it auto corrected to a! They're definitely not A listers!

HollowTalk · 04/06/2019 18:03

I liked the comments - just because someone's not massively famous it doesn't mean their views are invalid. The way the programme had touched so many people's lives was very, very moving.

Did anyone think Boris Johnson's dad was an absolute prick? He had no input whatsoever in their family life.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/06/2019 18:23

There was an article in The Times (weekend edition methinks) about the Johnson's nanny. Think both parents were very hands-off indeed from what she said.

I thought it was nice to have a real mix of famous(ish) people commenting.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/06/2019 19:31

I'm just sick of the lazy "let's watch other people watching TV" cheap telly infiltrating everywhere. You could see only about half of them had ever watched the series before.

southeastdweller · 04/06/2019 20:56

Were you tempted to give him a big hug?

Not then, but that was a few days before I rewatched 49 Up and 56 Up. I was in tears watching his segments.

Looking forward to tonight.

Name Changed for this. I follow this programme with great interest as I lived on the same street as Neil as a child, which is actually shown when Neil is riding his bike as a 7 year old, wearing his school uniform. His younger brother was in the same class in school as my brother (Woolton County Primary), and I was a few years younger again. We used to go to each other's birthday parties, and we still have some old photographs of them. The family moved away when we were still quite young. My parents, and others, were so upset when they watched how Neil's life took such a bad turn some years ago - but it seems things are looking up for him now, fortunately. Eagerly awaiting tonight's update!

Fresta · 04/06/2019 21:26

I'm watching with interest as I love catching up- especially with Neil. Back in the late 1980s my Social Studies teacher showed us 7up and we all had to choose one of the children and make predictions about them etc. I chose neil. She then showed us 14 and 21 up and I remember being so surprised at how his life turned out. I've followed ever since and am so pleased things started to turn around a bit for Neil.

I wonder how they will continue this programme as inevitably they will be dwindle in numbers Sad.

It's pretty scary how people age- you don't notice it day to day but seeing these people change is quite dramatic!

GiantKitten · 04/06/2019 21:37

Several have dipped in and out but only one is not listed this time - posh Charles

GiantKitten · 04/06/2019 21:39

I actually really enjoyed the talking heads (really not Z-list Confused) programme yesterday - their instinctive reactions to things the kids said in the early programmes, & then the tears over Tony’s mum, esp from the men Sad

Frangipane · 04/06/2019 21:50

Oh, poor Nick.

Fresta · 04/06/2019 22:05

Oh, how sad - did it say if his cancer treatable or is it terminal? Really hope he can recover! Such a bright man!

Fresta · 04/06/2019 22:10

I thought Sue looked amazing still- she's hardly changed over the years and aged very well! Looks like she's had a happy life so far!

EleanorReally · 04/06/2019 22:14

What a great speaker is nick, all four very inciteful, so interesting

southeastdweller · 04/06/2019 22:20

I thought Tony was kind of set-up to talk about Brexit.

Yes, Sue looked great and I agree with her 100% about how hard it is for younger people these days. It's nice to know she's still with Glen.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/06/2019 23:03

Just watched - this time they all seem much more open and less hesitant which must be to do with age and it was incredible to watch because they seemed much more like their 7 year old selves than they have over the years. Michael is their friend now.

Nick's story was heartbreaking. Sue hasn't changed at all.

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/06/2019 02:10

I used to know Neil really well. Before we were introduced I was asked if I'd seen Up and not to mention it!
He was an extremely hard working local activist. He campaigned on all kinds of local issues and when he stood to be a councillor he stood in his ward and not in a winnable area. I was so pleased when he was elected. I'd say he was a little eccentric but just very genuine.

Roussette · 05/06/2019 18:29

I absolutely love this series because it is my age. I have watched every one and just find it emotional because of being the same age I think.

What a lovely guy Nick was. And I'd love to go for a drink with Sue!

I haven't watched any slebs talking about this, I only want to hear from the participants

derxa · 05/06/2019 21:16

Ah Bruce. Bless him

viques · 05/06/2019 21:39

Bruce was always my favourite he had me from " my hearts desire is to see my daddy".

I actually met him while he was teaching at the boys school in Bethnal Green, and he was lovely. I was so happy that he met someone because he always seemed so lonely. He seems to have had a special life, I hope he has his hearts desire.

SouthWestmom · 05/06/2019 21:46

sorry Bruce

viques · 05/06/2019 21:56

Oh goodness. That was a shock.

viques · 05/06/2019 21:58

NOw my eyes are leaking. RIP LYnne.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 05/06/2019 21:59

Goodness - that was so sad.

derxa · 05/06/2019 22:01

Absolutely fascinating. Every life valuable.

Mustbetimeforachange · 05/06/2019 22:06

How fascinating. Age has given them all insight, what a wonderful thing. I've been watching this since I was a teenager & I love it. I thought they all without exception seem like lovely people. So sad about Lynne.
