On my recent binge re-watch, I was struck again by how much the Sands View social worker who supposedly committed suicide at the infamous suicide spot looked like Dot in a long wig. I cba to search for it again, but honestly! he's a dead ringer.

It is shocking to Ted in a, whispers, jumper.

I've lost track of who's who a bit. Who is Ryan?

Ryan is the scallywag boy from series 1 who was doing drugs deals and burner phone deposits on his bike. He has resurfaced, grown-up, in series 5 as part of the OCG and was responsible for slitting the throats of Maneet and Corbett - lovely boy not

Ryan memorably yelled, 'Ya bent bastard!' at Gates as he lobbed him a burner phone!

What's this exam that Ryan is going to be doing?!

As discussed on the last thread, the general thought is that Ryan's going to be joining the police.

Corbett is deffo brown bread. I'm not so sure about Dot though, plus don't forget there are BENT COPPAS from previous series in the clink - Hari Baines, Maneesh Prasad for example. So they might have a role on Sunday. I am still praying every night that Nige will come back, hobbling in on his fake walking stick and demanding 'four things: Im-Mu - Ni- Ty" . If only....

The Northern Irish link needs to be clarified. Hastings like the battle was in the RUC and had a period of unexplained sick leave at the same time that Corbett's natural mother was abducted by the IRA. It's a well established fact that by the time of the 80s the IRA was heavily involved in gun running and organised crime so they would easily link to the OCG ( Long Good Friday, anyone?). I'm still scratching my beard about that.....

Sam is deffo trying to get info from Steve. Poor Steve and his ED, if only he could get back together with Nicola Jolly Rogerson. They were nice together.

Jackie's body is smothered in Gates' DNA and that evil witch Kill Biggelow has harvested Ted's DNA either from shagging him (I hope he said his Hail Marys afterwards and for several days) or from his toothbrush/comb etc in the bathroom in his hotel room.

Moffat was the Fed Rep for Thandie Newton's character in last series.

He's now left the police and set up in this Kettle Bell consultancy thing.

He tracked Ted down at the beginning of this series, knew Ted was in financial difficulties and offered him a way of recouping his losses. He then lied and said he didn't put the money in the envelope.

He's another wrong 'un in the conspiracy to fit Ted up.

Thanks, I'll look up the last series, how did he know about Ted's finances, was he involved when Denton exposed it.

Do you know what might be interesting is if DNA from Steve is on the body and Ted gets to go free, and we suddenly all know that Ted really is bent.

AMM was too annoyingly smug and the comments about her being fast tracked are a red herring- she isn't going to be bent is she? Maybe she will help clear ted next series.

Maybe H isn't one person and that is why he/she has been so hard to pin down. Maybe it is a sort of HQ with Moffat, Gill and one other person.

I think Kate has been rather quiet this series, and may be up to no good

As the whole story has, forever, depended on sleight of hand and obfuscation, shouldn’t we, when someone says “I’m going to prove Hastings is H” actually hear “I’m going to see what you all do and who trips themselves up if I pretend I think Hastings is H”?

I don't think H is a person. Maybe it's a group, or a place, or a system? Ted said when talking about it 'If you're going to use that term', which struck me as a weird way to talk about a person.

George were those her words or did she say I am going to find H? If so then yes you are right we should think that - I fell for it that she was going to frame Ted, hook line and sinker

Have finished rewatching series 3.
My favourite & best bit is Kate riding shotgun on the lorry with a machine gun chasing Dot. In fact I think it's the best bit of LoD ever!
Two things in the last episode jumped out on me plus something else earlier on.
• Hari Bains had a phone delivered by a boy on a bike. Ryan?
• Lingering shot on a property board in the grounds of Sand View Boys Home stating luxury apartments or something coming soon.
• Dot taking taking the bullets for Kate when he jumped in front of her when the gunman in the car opened fire on her. 5 mins before that whilst waiting for his getaway car telling Kate to go now before she gets hurt or something like that.

The last point makes me think that a theory that a pp had (which was it's set up by the female police officers aiming to get rid of all the bent male coppers) is a strong possibility.
However adding to that line of enquiry I've a theory that 'H' is not bad or OCG (unlike everyone thinks he is.)
H is undercover out to expose the sexual abuse of children by people in power. Therefore H is either Kate or an amalgamation if Kate/Gill/Lisa.
Why Kate? She's the expert at undercover & makes me think of James Bond.
Finally JM likes his play on words so I think the surnames are a possible clue?
• Hastings = Battle
• Fleming = discovered penicillin which saves lives & changed the world.
• Cottam/Cotton = on a thread/string
• Arnott = is he or isn't (are not or are is)
• Morton = knows more as in more on it.
