I'm re watching season 1 at the moment they threatened Gates with his DNA all over her body and also the knife they slit her throat with. After they did it, they knocked him out and grasped his hand around the knife handle and then when they kidnapped him the knife was frozen with her body and they said they'd let the police find her smothered in his DNA.

Bearing in mind Gates is now dead, I'm not sure what that will achieve now! Or maybe they just have no use for her now?

Right rewatching Series 3.
The Sands Views Boys Home is possibly one of the keys to all this: my theory is that Ted possibly could have been one of the coppers that heard about the abuse claims but didn't believe it at the time.
Ted was also a friend & fellow mason in the same lodge as Patrick Fairbank (former Chief Superintendent now residing in HMP Blackthorn for taking part in the abuse in the boys home)
Ted feels guilty & also bad about being hoodwinked by a former friend & colleague, hence him wanting to take *'every bent copper' down'.
That's why I think Ted is innocent.
Not sure how Jackie Laverty fits in but I think there is some connection to the people involved in the child abuse at the boys home.
I also think Dot was lying when he blinked at the letter H to point suspicion elsewhere.

Yes! The H&S guy at work brought my work equipment to my house so I can WFH while I'm recovering from surgery and he has a new, black, Range Rover. I asked the IT guy who came with him if they were going off to deal drugs on their way back! 😂

Haha I’d have said a lot worse than Kate did if my DP had spoken to me like that. Seemed like a fairly normal interaction for a couple in those circumstances and not particularly out of character for Kate.
