Yes, I agree there's more to come from Osborne.

And Jimmy Lakewell.

So many story lines still to tie up in the final series. Carly, Jackie, Sands View, Danny's list ...

Oakenbeach · 06/05/2019 10:40

I agree that Lisa seems to have got immunity in return for nothing! I think Gill gave information about more than £100k man, as at the end it said her evidence led to prosecution (s) plural - it's just that £100k man is the only one we were told about.

For Lisa to have realistically got immunity she would have had to have shopped someone bigger than her in the OCG/Police conspiracy.... not ‘small fry’ like Moffat. The only plausible explanation is that her immunity had been ‘arranged’ by someone bigger and more corrupt!

Invisibleiink · 06/05/2019 10:44

Was there an 'innocent' explanation for Ted turning his phones off from 3pm? The next couple of hours were to get to the laptop shop, granted, but why didn't he switch them back on after that?

With the £50k couldn't Mrs Corbett just use it for normal cash transactions over the next however long - it would take a long long time, but could be done? I agree Ted was taking a huge risk in offering it to her - won't she go to Kate and Steve? (assuming that's what's in the envelope - maybe it is misdirection and in fact it is a possession of Anne Marie's, with Ted using a recycled envelope.)

JamesBoredom · 06/05/2019 10:45

I’m also inclined to believe that whoever it turns out to be next season, they’ll be sitting on Ryan’s interview panel.

Cockadoodledooo · 06/05/2019 10:53

Anybody else waiting for the new series to start with one of Ted's excellent sceptical faces to Steve asking "are you sure you've not taken too many painkillers fella?!" about the Morse code shizzle?! Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/05/2019 11:03

Maybe Steve's painkiller addiction will get out of control by the time the next series comes along - that could make him vulnerable to OCG blackmail.

beanaseireann · 06/05/2019 11:09

I was disappointed in the finale.
How many police officers were killed in this series ?
And Lisa just gets a slap on the wrist and a new life, Gill gets a new life too but not one she likes, too downmarket for her.
We still don't know who the top dog is.
Is it Sindwhani or DCC Andrea Wise. ?
LadyKylieShagworthy called it on the 22/4 at 11.15 on a Mumsnet Line of Duty thread, as did NewModelArmyMayhem at 8.14 on the 22/4
What was the point of Sam and Steves rekindled romance ?
It's a pity Ted didn't get a bit of SteveArnott ( ED) when he was with Gill.

tinstar · 06/05/2019 11:14

What was the point of Sam and Steves rekindled romance ?

I think that was partly to show that his back injury is still causing him problems (in the bedroom department as well as him obviously still being in pain). And also to make the viewer wonder if she was up to something/connected with the OCG.

Piggywaspushed · 06/05/2019 11:15

I think loads of stuff like the laptop, Banks, and the spelling was put in by JM as evidence that Carmichael would use to prove Ted was H.

Once he wasn't, Jed hopes we no longer care, I guess.

The £100k for the PP who asked : we know Moffatt definately gave Ted £100k for the dodgy property deal. It was 50k that was found, hence Moffatt's sneer when asked about it by Kate/ Steve/ forgotten who. It was one of the dangling causes that was resolved : Ted has squirrelled it away. But - had it all not kicked off- there was no clue as to how he was going to square that with Moffat by returning half... hmmm..

RaffertyFair · 06/05/2019 11:18

The lap top shop was a massive risk surely? Hastings clearly had secure hiding places because the other £50 K wasnt found. Walking in knowing there's cc TV round every corner seemed crazy

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 06/05/2019 11:19

I wanted to know this too.
As soon as gill bungalow started saying they hadnt got the correct authorisation code (??) to search Teds room i thoughtshe was covering her own arse as somewhere her dna or fingerprints were going to be found on something and it wasnt just to protect him.
And Rohan and Andrea Wise are definitely hiding a whole load of stuff!

Charley50 · 06/05/2019 11:29

Lol at the 321 clues. I know some of y'all hate moaners but there just wasn't the characterisation or back story in this series, compared to the others. Arnott and Kate had very basic lines the whole series.
I felt a bit sorry for Arnott that his ex walked out when he couldn't get a hard-on. Bit harsh!
Agree the witness immunity was ridiculous.
I think Arnott will maybe get addicted to opiates. But then again maybe not.

DarlingNikita · 06/05/2019 11:46

I felt a bit sorry for Arnott that his ex walked out when he couldn't get a hard-on.

The way this scene was played, I thought she realised he didn’t want to come out of the bathroom and face her, so she just left to spare his blushes as it were.

Other points:

No details into how Kate and Steve resolved it. No break out scene. No explanation about Lisa. No greater understanding about Corbett. Ted just let off???? Kate and Steve got Gill’s name from the Op Peartree officer off the record; there was a twist on the breakout scene with the gang electing not to break Gill out; we got everything we needed about Corbett, no? And Ted is on a final written warning, not exactly let off.* Lisa, I’m not sure what further explanation we need?

Don't believe he was watching porn or that he would feel the need to hide his pc even if he was. Why would he think anyone would even look for it? I agree, this was quite implausible. There must be more to come out in the next series.

I don’t get what Moffat was bribing Ted for? Also still not clear on why they talked about fifty grand but then there was 100 grand. And where was the rest of it?

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 11:48

I don't think she walked out on him. I think he wouldn't leave the bathroom so she eventually didn't have much choice but to go home.

I liked the way the series ended by contrasting Kate and Arnotts' commendations with their rubbish home lives, but I hope series 6 is better for them.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 06/05/2019 11:58

I am a bit Hmm at the constant confusion by some posters of the four male Asian characters who do actually not look alike.

Simon Bannerjee, nice PC (we assume) on the beat who wanted to help Ryan in series 1:
lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Simon_Bannerjee

Manish Prasad, thoroughly nasty bent copper in series 2 who tried to kill Lindsey Denton. Had a police photo ID that did look a bit like Dr Ranj. Is on AC12’s board of shame and is one of the herd of immunity:
lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Manish_Prasad

Hari Bains, bent but not evil copper from series 3 who is being controlled by Dot. Also I think on the AC12 board of shame. Think he got a prison sentence:
lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Hari_Bains

Rohan Sindwhani, Police and Crime Commissioner, Gill’s boss (since series 3? I don’t think he got a name check then so maybe it was a different one):

Totally agree - especially when one of those confused is a poster who claimed that people who were being critical hadn't been concentrating enough ...

RaffertyFair · 06/05/2019 12:09

I think the money is the strongest evidence that Hastings is not part of the Gang of 4.

It only makes sense if he was clean. He needed the money because he was in debt. It would either give the ocg a hold over him with which to blackmail him into working for them or a means of framing him because the notes were forensically linked to other cash known to have been used by the ocg previously and so leave the real remaining leaders safe.

RaffertyFair · 06/05/2019 12:12

Ted never admitted to it being £100K.
He hid the other £50k and we are presumably meant to assume he gave it to Corbett's widow and children

Yup. Perhaps they need to 'concentrate harder' if more than one Asian character is too confusing for them

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2019 12:17

I think he was going to use half himself, but then found out who Corbett was, and felt guilty / horrified about Anne Marie's 'wee fella' also dying in a violent way. He then decided his widow and daughters needed the money more than he did.

Getting rid of £50s is challenging though; a fair few places don't take them!

TheweewitchRoz · 06/05/2019 12:18

Good point @RaffertyFair

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2019 12:18

Yup. Perhaps they need to 'concentrate harder' if more than one Asian character is too confusing for them

Especially as the photos on the board all had their names clearly visible beneath them. And none said Simon Bannerjee!

TrixieFranklin · 06/05/2019 12:25

Assuming he gave the full 50k to Mrs Corbett, he may have kept enough aside to get back on his feet a little / for his Mrs

LaganBubbleCruises · 06/05/2019 12:27

Jackie Laverty's body

Ted's DNA was put on Corbett's body to frame Ted for his murder ,he could have claimed it was revenge for the attack on his wife . Adding Jackie to the body bag would have proven a link between the OCG and Ted .

Or Terry finally got to do his Iceland shop

IntentsandPorpoises · 06/05/2019 12:29

@Isitmybathtimeyet

Sorry, genuine error. You know there is actual scientific research showing that people find it harder to distinguish and identify faces of different races.

www.theguardian.com/science/neurophilosophy/2011/aug/15/people-other-races-look-alike

And its a really long time since I've watched series 1,2 and 3.
