The one above is the one we're still missing, so now we need to work out who it is.

My series 5 DVD was dispatched from Amazon in the early hours. Grin

LizzieSiddal · 06/05/2019 07:49

Well I was disappointed because it was so easy to guess who the baddy was. I usually never get it right but I predicted it was Gill last week.
I think that’s the issue now, there aren’t enough police big characters, who’ve we’ve known for a few series, other than the main 3 characters obviously.

We’re not getting the character development that we had with Dot and sorry can’t think of her name- the woman from the Bodyguard and The Durrells.

Rumbletum2 · 06/05/2019 07:54

I don’t understand why “Urgent exit needed” is the standard text. Why not “SOS” or something quicker and easier to type?

Rumbletum2 · 06/05/2019 07:59

I loved it. Roll on series 6 😁

EnormousSexyCrimeUnit · 06/05/2019 08:01

Wasn't the text ore-written? So Gill only had to press send?

EnormousSexyCrimeUnit · 06/05/2019 08:01

Pre-written!

RedForShort · 06/05/2019 08:04

Because Bigaloe gave the idea to Corbett that Hastings was H?
Yep!! Read the Digital Spy article after I wrote that question. Answers a good bit of the sstuff I was unclear on. (Apart from how Steve had the four people not H revelation!)

RhubarbIsEvil · 06/05/2019 08:06

We need JM to do a MN Q&A! No one ask him about biscuits though.

Jed’s favourite biscuits would be Hobnobs.

jellyfish70 · 06/05/2019 08:12

Brilliant twist. Always disliked that Bigolo woman. What is up with that uniformed pc and the knife?

jellyfish70 · 06/05/2019 08:14

Yes pre typed text, she just pressed send. also if she was recording, surely you put the phone on the desk. Would she really not have the ring on silent as it was a burner?

jellyfish70 · 06/05/2019 08:21

Instead, in his dying moments, he decided that he would blink yes to the letter H because H is 4 dots in morse code and he thought they'd work out this meant that there are 4 people at the top?? WTF?? that's like a clue from bloody 3-2-1 confused

So funny!

SummerHouse · 06/05/2019 08:25

I burst out laughing at first when Kate just started saying, “Tap tap. Tap. Tap.” Great work, team.

For a moment my thought process was so.....Tap did it. But who is Tap?

TedsFederationRep · 06/05/2019 08:25

Predictions for Series 6...

Patricia Bloody Carmichael, royally peeved at being thwarted in her career-enhancing mission to prove Ted is H, will bide her time and be back. She is such a passive-aggressive Copzilla. Great acting though.

ACC Andrea "I'm leaning towards muffins" Wise is so complacent, always wanting to smooth things over, but you don't get to be an ACC without a streak of ruthlessness, however hidden. One to watch.

Rohan Sindwhani (who looked incredibly shifty in the closing scenes) is very very nervous about something. He is closest to Gill and to Muffins Wise. At least one of them has something on him...

Gill won't stand living in that rundown area for long. Too much of a princess for that. She'll trade up, by suddenly "remembering" something of great value.

Kate's husband will try to force her to choose between her family and her job. The domestic turmoil means she will be distracted and miss something vital.

Poor Steve will be just as much of a terrier as ever when chasing the facts but his creeping painkiller addiction will mean him not being taken seriously at a crucial point.

ShockHow long will we have to wait for the next series Confused

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 06/05/2019 08:27

Jed’s favourite biscuits would be Hobnobs
I'm thinking they'd be Jammy Dodgers

RhubarbIsEvil · 06/05/2019 08:28

Jammy Dodgers don’t begin with H.

Oakenbeach · 06/05/2019 08:29

And surely if you've confessed to working with an OCG that deals drugs and traffics young women, they wouldn't let you go off chatting to at risk teens?

Yes, it’s amazing how readily immunity is given in LOD!

Member of a merciless OCG that’s killed dozens and just staged a £50m heist but get caught? No problem, appear to be a bit remorseful and cooperate a bit and you’ll be sentenced to chat to some kids every other Thursday for a couple of years.

Bent copper responsible for the framing and deaths of police officers, and working determined for an OCG that has killed dozens and appears one step away from being the UK’s version of a Colombian drugs cartel! No problem... just help with some minor matters that lead to no convictions of note and they’ll realise you’re not cut out for jail and you’ll get to start afresh somewhere new!

It’s almost worth being an arch-criminal!

jellyfish70 · 06/05/2019 08:30

Summerhouse didn't she say "Dot, dot dot" ? I was confused as it was Dot doing the tapping!!! Confused

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/05/2019 08:31

Maybe Ted was going to give the £50K to his ex?

I reckon Ryan (if he's been to university as he intimated in the card game scene) will be doing the fast-tracked 'detective' programme, so will be primed and qualified to show up in the next series.

Didn't like this last series as much as previous ones. The conclusion didn't seem as satisfactory, for one. And what was the point of Jackie Laverty's body parts showing up? It seemed as if previous loose ends were being woven into the plot arc but not very convincingly (and to what purpose?).

Isitmybathtimeyet · 06/05/2019 08:34

As I said upthread, they have a whole bunch of former bent coppers sitting around with immunity but don’t seem to have asked any of them about these senior police officers.

Oakenbeach · 06/05/2019 08:35

Either that or the 4th bent copper (only 4 - what about Huntley, Hargreaves etc... there are loads!) is pulling strings for his criminal mates to ensure excessive leniency.

Piggywaspushed · 06/05/2019 08:37

To me, it felt like JM was tidying up many of his own inconsistencies this series, having read online what some people's niggles are (or perhaps now they film in Belfast). the most obvious example (which led to much debate on here) is Ted's extremely unCatholic name : which was dealt with in clunky exposition in this finale.

Next series, Jed might want to be told in between that the NI RC community definately would not take to a RC member of the RUC and 'trust' him as one of their own.

TedsFederationRep · 06/05/2019 08:40

Maybe it wasn't so much the need to tie in Jackie Laverty's remains to those of John Corbett so much as a need to empty Terry's freezer Shock

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 06/05/2019 08:41

Another thought about the laptop. Hastings went to great care in wrapping it in bubble wrap before he took it to the computer shop. Why, if he simply wanted it destroyed? Even if he was only going to get the hard drive destroyed and planned on keeping the laptop itself the bubble wrap was a lot of effort for a "communications device" that is designed to be portable.

Oakenbeach · 06/05/2019 08:42

Gill won't stand living in that rundown area for long. Too much of a princess for that. She'll trade up, by suddenly "remembering" something of great value.

Surely the only way you get any kind of immunity in the first place is to “remember” something of great value with your testimony in court being the key to the conviction of criminal topdogs, some for just being generally cooperative.

Oakenbeach · 06/05/2019 08:43

...not for being generally cooperative
