@jamiecooks if I recall correctly that was meant to show that Nige was the one talking to journalists for cash

NotMyPuppy · 29/04/2019 22:50

So excited for this week’s shrine of duty!

jessicawessica · 29/04/2019 23:03

Apparently JM wrote Ted's part to be a bumbling, shambled has been. But changed his mind and altered the character.
I think he's trying to make Ted out to be a bit out of touch....but that we should never underestimate him.

pinkandstripey · 29/04/2019 23:09

Don't think I've seen this mentioned - but ted comes into the room and sets up the nightclub thing after seeing Corbett's phone record map. He looked a bit panicked and then barged into the room with 'go do this nightclub thing' like he was trying to stop them looking at the map - covering up another location? John's phone at his hotel room? Who knows.

RandomlyChosenName · 29/04/2019 23:13

Thanks for the recommendation for Bodies. Just seen episode 1 Shock. Should distract me until Sunday!

BitOfFun · 29/04/2019 23:14

Oh, it's fab! I've watched about five now, I think.

.........ooooh, that's good!!!

barryfromclareisfit · 29/04/2019 23:26

Sorry. Don’t like Ted. Hope he’s guilty and comes to a sticky end.

Jux · 29/04/2019 23:28

I reckon it's that woman who's been chatting up our Ted and fitting him up for retirement. Don't trust her one iota.

Many many thanks to the people on a long-ago thread about something else (GoT maybe?) who pointed me at LoD. Dh and I have now seen all of it from S1E1 - some of them multiple times! - and are so horribly hooked. We are dreading the end of this series - what shall we do then?

boydoggies · 29/04/2019 23:36

Oh my, I have recently binged from Series 1. Last night was dull. Not much information provided and no real gripping moments. I'm still cross they sliced Corbett last week!

CraicMammy · 29/04/2019 23:43

Bill Jiggy Below said she used to be a defence solicitor. She’s going to have every crim’s contact details in her little big black book.

BitOfFun · 30/04/2019 00:02

I have to share this again, because it makes me smile. I think it's because it reassures me, after all the tension, that the real people are actually lovely, kind, and funny. It restores my faith in human nature!

Aww. That's lovely BOF

Imnotbent · 30/04/2019 03:48

I’ve missed the interview scenes this series and don’t see how they can sew this up in 90 minutes next week as there are too many loose ends.

PullUpTerrain · 30/04/2019 05:48

Feels like a long wait till Sunday. Sad

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 30/04/2019 05:54

Now we’re sucking diesel. No fhereories as I’ve come to work out I’m a bit thick compared to everyone else on these threads- never see anything coming. Definitely got an uneasy feeling about Kate though.

EleanorReally · 30/04/2019 06:27

not uneasy about Kate, she is a stickler for rules, its the rest of them getting their scalpels out and wanting Ted gone. Save Ted

CheekyWeeGobshite · 30/04/2019 07:20

not uneasy about Kate, she is a stickler for rules,

Except for in series 2 when she was having an affair with the husband of the witness protection officer and told him to lie so that she wouldn't be implicated.

Hels20 · 30/04/2019 07:33

Agree Cheeky - she isn’t as “good” as she sometimes comes across. Also - in Series 3, I think she fell for Dot’s BS far more easily than I would have expected her to. Steve was always suspect about him. Yes - Kate saved Steve in the end but I found her easy belief in Dot to start with too easy.

popehilarious · 30/04/2019 07:42

Was that genuine though? Not long after she went to ask permission from another female AC head to investigate him. Was never sure how much of that kate/ dot buddy thing was real...

Hels20 · 30/04/2019 07:48

She agreed to follow Steve to graveyard etc with Dot before she went to get permission to go under cover.

When Dot tried to kiss her - she was under cover then. So I don’t think there was ever any attraction to him in that way - but I definitely think she was swayed by Dot and misjudged him - in contrast to steve who never ever trusted him.

Hels20 · 30/04/2019 07:49

And I always found Kate’s reaction around Richard Ackers so wrong - telling him what he could and couldn’t say. Maybe JM was trying to show that even AC get it wrong sometimes. Steve definitely did with the nurse. And also with poor Georgia Trott - going to bed with her so soon after she had been made his partner.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 30/04/2019 07:51

Lovely article on Ted’s phraseology in The Times. (Apologies if not directly accessible.)

LizzieMacQueen · 30/04/2019 07:56

Can someone please remind me where and how we first see Kate in S1.

I did re watch them recently - thankfully back on iPlayer - but I don't have time today.

CheekyWeeGobshite · 30/04/2019 08:02

Yes, I don't really think that Kate is bent, but I do think that none of them is without flaws. I'm never quite sure whether the scriptwriter's intention is to show that AC-12 aren't much better than the bent coppers or that it's very easy to become corrupt because of a few bad decisions. Or maybe both.
