Here is a new thread for when the old one is full.

My DP thinks it's not Jackie Laverty. He reckons it's just the gang's modus operandi to keep bits of bodies as blackmail insurance

Interesting - because I can’t see any relevance of Jackie Laverty now given Gates is dead. Maybe just a bit of fun for the longer term viewers? Or so we realise that Terry is the same guy despite being a different actor?

I don’t think Kate can be H. Too much they couldn’t explain away.

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/04/2019 17:33

It wouldn't make sense for Kate to be H, didn't Dot indicate a name beginning with H to her by blinking as he was dying? (Although it could be a place and he might still be alive of course)

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2019 17:34

I have to admit that I didn't notice that Terry was a different actor. Blush Shows how much I notice what's going on (I also didn't spot the return of Ryan!).

I'm not sure why they'd need to announce it in some way though. Maybe the original actor was busy / isn't acting any more, but the character is still needed. Plenty of soaps have had actor changes for characters; it would be rather odd to draw attention to it as they're still the character.

I don't think Lise and Corbett are related.

WhoWants2Know · 22/04/2019 17:58

The level of violence in the earlier series was grim, but it felt strategic- things happened for a reason.

In the first series, with the fingers, they were torturing for information and trying to send a message. With Laverty, I guess they wanted to kill her quickly but also leave lots of blood at the scene, so it was clear that something dodgy was going on to put Gates under pressure.

But why make Hilton's death look like suicide, only to later discount it by leaving Maneet there?
Why cut throats with Maneet or John, when they have access to loads of other means? It seems like it would have a big risk of leaving DNA all over the place.

Is it that the OCG is less tightly controlled now than it was in Tommy Hunter's day, and things are getting sloppy?

StoorieHoose · 22/04/2019 18:00

I could be a different flat with another vulnerable adult with a different person in the freezer. The UCO could have coerced lots of vulnerable adults into stuff for them

StoorieHoose · 22/04/2019 18:00

*It not I

WhoWants2Know · 22/04/2019 18:05

Stoorie I thought that. They didn't need the character to be the same person or have the same name- just establish a pattern that f targeting vulnerable adults to make use of their flats.

(Sadly, this is a very real phenomenon, and something seen I've seen more than once during home visits with vulnerable adults, but not to the extent of bodies in the freezer.)

shivermetimbers77 · 22/04/2019 18:06

I wonder if Lise is related to Jackie Laverty/Tony Gates... hence the reminder of Jackie's body...

shiveringtimber · 22/04/2019 18:07

Please learn to spell, FFS!Angry

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/04/2019 18:09

@shivermetimbers77
More and more I think this too.
Am catching up on S1 as it’s the only one I’ve not seen; there are references to them being together 20 years before S1 and the age would fit with Lise. I get the impression even though I’m only on episode 3 JL and TG are supposed to have been forever lovers but were never officially together IYSWIM, possibly making the putting of a love child into care “easier”.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2019 18:25

They didn't need the character to be the same person or have the same name- just establish a pattern that f targeting vulnerable adults to make use of their flats.

But in this case it was needed for the storyline that it was Terry as the JL in the freezer reminder was wanted. Maybe they even moved him to the bed flat as they wanted him to keep an eye on the printers. I see no problem with changing the actor; I really don't understand the angst.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/04/2019 18:28

Jackie was engaged to Tony when they were in their 20s. She was the estate agent who sold him his first flat & that's how they met.
Jackie then ditched Tony for a millionaire, Andrew Laverty? They are now divorced hence her rekindled relationship with Tony.
Tony said it took him a couple of years to get over being ditched by Jackie.
I'm thinking Jackie was reeling Tony in from the start thinking he would be useful, and also knowing that there was unfinished business between them.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/04/2019 18:31

Can you tell I watched most of series 1 last night (until blooming iplayer chucked me off just at the point Ryan was waving the bolt cutters at Steve Arnott's fingers. )

diddl · 22/04/2019 18:36

"because I can’t see any relevance of Jackie Laverty now given Gates is dead."

It's all connected though isn't it?

The man who laundered money for her is part of Lisa's gang isn't he?

How senior is Hastings & how much more senior can you get?

I thought that this was a "right to the top" level of corruption.

veeboo · 22/04/2019 18:37

Long time lurked to this thread and totally obsessed.

I dint think Lisa is an UCO but maybe an informant? I think if Hastings is running her it will be all recorded (he does things to the letter of the law, the letter!). I'm more swayed to him being straighter than straight than H but there will be more about his past to come.

Also...did anyone notice Mrs Hastings lived in A and Terry was in flat B? Same building? Owned by H or the OCG? They focused on the letters too long for it to be irrelevant.

HiItsClemFandango · 22/04/2019 18:40

I think Lisa is working undercover for Hastings and nobody else in AC12 knows about it. That's why he was so quick to sit down to type and spelt definitely the way he did. I reckon Hastings is trying to find H/the leader

30not13 · 22/04/2019 18:40

Still Shock from last nights show

Tatleen definately ;) being made something of. Always in shot, lots of lingering.

HiItsClemFandango · 22/04/2019 18:41

Another theory I've seen is that H is a place not a person

Line of Duty definately part 3.
diddl · 22/04/2019 18:48

Lots of people have suggested it might be a place.

Or perhaps the codename of an operation?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/04/2019 18:49

Has series 1 been linked into any of the following series? (Aside from corruption)
2/3/4 were very obviously linked - tbh my memory of 1 is sparse

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 22/04/2019 19:01

I think the point of the women being trafficked is to see quite how far they are willing to go - it exposed Corbett but Lise is still in there. I'm not sure what else could have been used to illustrate it, and as has been said it wasn't gratuitously done (the throat cutting was much worse). And I'm quite sensitive to these things, I couldn't watch Baptiste for instance.

veeboo · 22/04/2019 19:07

If H isn't a person it means we've been fed a lot of red herrings. Kate specifically asks Dot for the name and the initial of the surname. This is a theme throughout series 4 too. Not impossible but would leave me wondering mother of God whyyyy

MargotMoon · 22/04/2019 19:09

Anyone think it was ridiculous that Hastings didn't suspend Arnott? He ignored the order to arrest Corbett after the man had admitted kneecapping an innocent woman. Regardless of whose wife she was there is no way that Hastings or Kate for that matter would not discipline him for insubordination.
