Piggywaspushed Perhaps Ryan's main function is to demonstrate timescale as he was a pre-teen child in Series 1 and the poker playing gangster mentioned spending his student loan on gambling. From 12 to 18 or more - at least 6 years.

The man that Hastings visited in prison was the gang member that Arnott arrested in episode 2 (this series). During this visit I suspect he gave up Corbett.

I think Hastings gave up Corbett to the gang as his version of justice, because Arnott didn't arrest him when he had the chance (and he told him to), for the assault on his wife, the death of PC Bindra & the other police officers; and to make sure he doesn't kill anybody else.

By the time Hastings was on the laptop having the chat, Corbett was already exposed. Lise is definitely undercover but I don't think she's working for Hastings.

This is the first program I've watched in the last 18months including a storyline about women being trafficked. Not everyone watches all the other programs listed that have featured this issue. Women being used as sex slaves, housemaids, nannies etc are hidden away out of sight. The men in car washes are seen on a regular basis. I disagree that inclusion of this aspect reduces the quality of the program. Drugs, trafficking, guns, money laundering are the bread and butter for gangs of this size.

For the story arch the gang were having cash flow issues, couldn't sell their drugs or guns so trafficking is the next option, it makes sense.

I'm going to re-watch episode 3.

I also want to know why the bodies been kept for so so long. I feel so bad for that chap not having any use of his freezer.

I thought it was being kept in the freezer to keep Tony Gates in check (in series 1) but he died, so not sure what leverage her body now holds - and if so, with whom?

I wonder what Ryan's studying - Applied Criminology? He doesn't strike me as the studious type so I wonder how he got into a university.

But in Series 2 (The Caddy) Ted basically told Gilly Bigalow to resign before she was pushed because she hid the golf tee plant and also redacted revealing info from Tommy Hunter's (I think) file.

He was no friend of hers and thought she was part of the corrupt network, along with The Caddy, so how come he's had a sudden change of heart and is now supposedly wooing her.

This is the first series of Line of Duty I have watch, bloody love it. I'm trying to catch up with storylines on Wikipedia but obviously missing so much, I think I can carry on with this series though can I?

Just rewatched a few bits from last night. I agree that when Ted typed "I need you to close this down" it was a message to Lise to put a stop to Corbett. I think she is a uco and she and Corbett know each other, either as police officers or they're connected in some way in the past.

It was Ryan who actually cut Corbett's throat so my pet theory that he's a reformed character and working for the good side now sadly goes out the window.

It is odd that they showed Jackie Laverty's body again. I can't work out the purpose of that.

My DP thinks it's not Jackie Laverty. He reckons it's just the gang's modus operandi to keep bits of bodies as blackmail insurance.

Weirdly, LoD doesn't show on Alastair Natkiel's IMDB page. 🤔

Kate can't be H, as it doesn't fit in with previous series. And, as per the last thread, she's not senior enough to be H either.
